General
As App. H Philips was to be overweight in race one and subsequently replaced, and unable to claim her full allowance in race three, she was fined the sum of $400 in total under AR92(12). In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account her recent poor record in this regard. Following the running of race three, App. Philips was examined by QAS paramedics and stood down from her remaining engagements, with riding changes as per the race day summary report. App. Philips was advised she would require a medical certificate prior to resuming race riding.


RACE 1: CLASS BHDCP 1000 Metres

JILL’S SHADOW - hung out rounding the hometurn.

YAMANNERS - slow to begin.

MYSTERY ANGEL - slow to begin. Rider reported at scale had a tendency to hang out at various stages of the event.

DESTINY’S DESIRE - made the home-turn awkwardly and shifted wider on the track.

HAYILMATADOR - when questioned regarding the disappointing performance, rider I Coombes stated the gelding was inclined to change stride at various stages of the event, and in his opinion was most disappointing. Trainer G Teal stated the gelding had worked well during the week and was confident of a forward showing. A post race Vet examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.



RACE 2: BENCHMARK 60 HDCP1000 Metres

CAPTASIN CLAYTON – shifted out and bumped another runner a short distance after the start.

HIZOU - hung out rounding the hometurn. App rider A Van Der Sanden was reminded of her obligations to ride her mounts out fully to the line.

GREAT PATIENCE - trainer W Kuskopf was fined $100 for failing to produce the registration card for that gelding. Obliged to steady shortly after the start when bumped by another runner.

RUSTIC PLAY - shifted in after the start and hampered another runner.

FAMECHON BARONESS - slow to begin.

MONTE LAGO - shifted in near the 800 metres and hampered another runner. App C Bayliss was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

CHILLDOWN - bumped by another runner a short distance after the start. Hampered near the 800 metres when another runner shifted in. Raced wide for the majority.




RACE 3: QTIS MAIDEN PLATE1200 Metres

AS Trainer B Robinson was delayed en route to the meeting due to transport difficulties, stewards delayed the opening of betting on this race to allow for his arrival.

CASH’S REJECT - jumped out at the start and contacted another runner.

FLASH DRAGON - began awkwardly and lost ground at the start. At scale, app M Cox reported the gelding appeared to resent the firm going in the early and middle stages and was reluctant to stretch out, however when placed under pressure leaving the 400 metres responded fairly to her riding. App Cox was fined the sum of $100 for excessive use of the whip, which included successive strikes on 2 occasions.

FUSCUS - cast off hind plate en route to the track. When unable to be re-shod, permission was granted for the gelding to race bare behind.

MARKOVER - App C Bayliss was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in near the 500 metres resulting in another runner being checked.

PSYCHO SAID SO - jumped in at the start and tightened another runner.

SHADOW NIGHT - checked and lost ground near the 500 metres when tightened by another runner.

HOLY CLANGER - lost ground at the start when tightened between runners.

SHE’S A UNIT - arrival on course was delayed due to transport difficulties. Examined by the club Vet prior to the start and cleared to start. Slow to begin.






RACE 4: OPEN HDCP 1200 Metres

LE MAX - rider M O’Brien was fined $200 for excessive use of the whip.

SO SURE - raced wide throughout.





RACE 5: BENCHMARK 50 HDCP 1600 Metres

LUCK’S IN - began awkwardly and lost ground.

CHATEAUROUX - improved inside the heels of another runner near the 1400 metres and obliged to steady.

TOUCAN UKELELE - raced wide for the majority of the event.

KING OFJACKS - slow to begin.

TIVERTON - raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event.
