Prior to the declaration of correct weight apprentice L Dodds the rider of the second placed horse FIRST REGRET wished to view the footage of the closing stages to determine if there were grounds to lodge an objection against the winner ONEMORE TWIST.  After viewing the film apprentice L Dodds lodged an objection 2nd against 1st for alleged interference over the final stages. Stewards gave consideration to the protest and after hearing all the evidence and viewing the footage were of the view that even though ONEMORE TWIST did shift ground over the final 20m, no contact was made and FIRST REGRET also shifted in slightly at the same point. It was the opinion of the Stewards that the interference suffered to FIRST REGRET was minimal if any, and they could not be comfortably satisfied to the degree to warrant a reversal of placings, bearing in mind the margin of a short half head, the proximity to the finish line and therefore dismissed the protest and gave correct weight on the numbers semaphored by the judge.

FLYING SEBA – Slow to begin.

FAMECHON BARONESS – Raced wide early before being allowed to stride forward to obtain a position outside the leader at the 1200m.

CHARZOOKA – After leading, began to weaken passing the 400m and finished a distant last. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding jockey W O’Connell said it was stepping up in distance from 1100m of its last start, and in his opinion it failed to run out the 1740m distance of today’s event.
