Returning to scale a protest was lodged by B Healey, trainer of third place getter KYRIE ELEISON against first past the post LUCKY LARRIKIN, ridden by G Steele alleging interference rounding the home turn and again inside the final 100 metres.  At a subsequent inquiry stewards found that approaching the home turn LUCKY LARRIKIN shifted out approximately three horses taking KYRIE ELEISON, which had raced four wide up to that point of the event, wider on the track.  Further, it was established close to the line, whilst LUCKY LARRIKIN did shift out under pressure, any inconvenience to KYRIE ELEISON was minimal.  Bearing in mind the half length margin, and the manner in which both horses finished the race off, the protest was dismissed.  At a subsequent inquiry G Steele, rider of LUCKY LARRIKIN, was reprimanded for allowing her mount to shift out under pressure riding rounding the home turn.
