QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT CHARTERS TOWERS SUNDAY 12 MAY 2024 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Sand RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – K. DeanStewards – R. Neal, S. Nosworthy (exc. R4) (Cadet) General: As rider D. Smith was unable to attend the meeting, he was replaced as per the stewards’ summary. Stewards permitted the following overweights:R5 – App. G. Semmens +2.5kg Race 1: HERBET HALL HARDWARE QTIS Maiden Plate 1000m COME ON LET’S KISS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to not having started in an extended period and was passed fit to race. GROVERS PREDICTION – Missed the start marginally due to the barrier failing to open on terms. Club staff were directed to undertake repairs on the starting gates and after testing, were found to be functioning satisfactorily. Raced wide around the first turn before improving forward to the lead. JET STREAM – Dipped on jumping. Rider S. Sheargold reported that the filly laid in throughout. MISS MILDRED – Began awkward. Raced greenly over the concluding stages. Race 2: HAPPY BIRTHDAY ARCHIE RATINGS BAND 0 – 60 Handicap 1000m WINNING SAGA – Began awkwardly. Race 3: HOWARD ALFORD MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 45 Handicap 1200m SOPHIA’S LASS – Bumped with MARTY AWHA shortly after jumping. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the mare to have sustained an injury to the nearside fetlock. Trainer M. McGuire stated that the mare will undergo further veterinary assessment at his stables and was advised that a veterinary certificate will be required prior to SOPHIA’S LASS resuming. MARTY AWHA – Bumped with SOPHIA’S LASS shortly after jumping. Race 4: BRT TRANSPORT & CONTRACTING 2024 BATTLE OF THE BUSH CHARTERS TOWERS QUALIFIER OPEN Plate 1200m AIDENABET – Laid in throughout the home straight despite the efforts of its rider. HALLSIDE HAMMER – Blundered badly on jumping and lost considerable ground. Race 5: WALLY THOMASSON MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1400m MISHANI PERFECTION – Raced greenly throughout, laid in under pressure over the final 50m.
