Race 1: TOWER HARDWARE BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400M
BELLE EXPRESS – Raced in restricted room shortly after the start. Shifted out under pressure leaving the 150m and bumped another runner.
GOLDIES RETURN - Slow to begin and slow to muster speed. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. When questioned regarding the performance, trainer J. Paterson stated that the filly was having its first start on a dirt track and failed to handle the surface today. Stewards accepted the explanation and took no further action.
MURPHYS COAL DUST – Jumped out awkwardly and made contact with another runner. Leaving the 150m the gelding became unbalanced after being bumped by another runner.
KEEP THE CURRENCY – Shifted out marginally leaving the 1000m point.
HILDESHEIM – Travelled wide during the early and middle stages of the event.
HIGHWAY CHILD - Bumped by another runner shortly after the start.
Race 2: PRESIDENTS OPEN HANDICAP 1100M
ELLIE LA VIE - Travelled wide over the final stages of the event. Jockey C. Rogers was fined $100 for failing to weigh in for 3rd placing.
LA CLOISONNE – Jumped in at the start. Hung out over the final stages of the event.
DANA DANCER – Raced wide in the early stages and hung out at that point.
MONTANUS – Bumped by another runner shortly after the start.
PRIVATE DOWNS – Steadied shortly after the start when inconvenienced by another runner.
MOORINGS MAGIC – Jumped in and made contact with another runner at the start.
Race 3: DICK LEEDS QTIS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1000M
Prior to the running of Race 3, the track rating was upgraded to Good (Dirt).
The start of this race was delayed due to GAELIC HERO being difficult to load. Trainer Mr T. Elmes was advised a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of GAELIC HERO.
SEQUAJAKE – Dipped badly at the start and lost substantial ground.
SKIDADDLE – Travelled wide during the early and middle stages of the event.
Race 4: PRICE RITE TYRES BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200M
WHERES JIMMY – Slow to begin. The gelding hung out leaving the 400m turn. Jockey J. Geppert reported that the horse had shifted a front plate during the running.
STRADA TITLE – Held up leaving the 400m and had to shift out to obtain a better run, then travelled wide over the final stages of the event.
Race 5: BOOKMAKERS CLASS B HANDICAP 800M
THAT’S THE PLAN was a late scratching at 3.44pm due to no rider being available.
ZAHA COUNTY - Restrained at the 600m point when shifting in to gain a better position in running.
IT WASN’T ME – Dipped badly at the start and lost ground.
