General:

Due to a miscommunication V. Venkaya did not ride at this meeting. Rider replacements were made as per the stewards summary.

Prior to the running of Race 1, Stewards and jockeys conducted a track inspection and were satisfied with the condition of the track with the exception of the 1000m chute. As a result Races 1 and 4 were started from the course proper.

Race 1: BOOKMAKERS MAIDEN PLATE - 1000m
1st – MARVIN 2nd – DREAD LACH MAGIC 3rd – ALEXVMAR 4th-ROLLING ART

The start of this race was delayed when SHE’S IN TOP GEAR was difficult to load and became fractious in the barriers. SHE’S IN TOP GEAR was declared a late scratching at 1.56pm by order of Stewards acting on veterinary advice. All monies invested on SHE’S IN TOP GEAR were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable:

0 cents in the dollar for the win #1
16 cents in the dollar for the place of winner #1
15 cents in the dollar for second place #6
17 cents in the dollar for third place #4

Starting prices are subject to deductions.

Trainer T. Elmes was advised he will need to obtain a further barrier certificate for SHE’S IN TOP GEAR prior to the mare racing again.

ROLLING ART – App. L. Tilley replaced V. Venkaya as the rider of the gelding.

MARVIN – Slow to begin. Shifted out for clear running approaching the 100m.

PUBLIC FORTUNE – Bumped another runner at the start.

DREAD LACH MAGIC - Bumped another runner at the start.

CROISSANTS – Rider J. Rudd reported the mare did not handle today’s heavy track conditions.

TAKE FIVE – Rider M. Hackett reported the gelding did not race comfortably at any stage, which he attributed to the heavy track conditions.


Race 2: LES BAKER MEMORIAL OPEN HANDICAP – 1400m
1st – BELLE EXPRESS 2nd – LA CLOISONNE 3rd – ELLIE LA VIE 4th – STRATEGIC WEAPON

LA CLOISONNE – App. G. Steele replaced V. Venkaya as the rider of the mare.

TESTASCANA – Raced in restricted room for a short distance leaving the 900m, and near the 800m had to be steadied and lost ground. At a subsequent inquiry Stewards could not attribute blame for the incident to any one rider and deemed it a racing incident. Bumped another runner near the 100m.

ELLIE LA VIE - Bumped another runner near the 100m.


Race 3: MURWEH SHIRE COUNCIL CLASS 3 PLATE – 1400m
1st – MUGMARINO 2nd – MOORINGS MAGIC 3rd – SWORD FIGHTER 4th – GENERAL NICK

STAND’N’STARE was declared a late scratching at 10.30am as no rider was available.

The start of this race was delayed when MOORINGS MAGIC broke through the front of the barriers and galloped a short distance before being restrained. The mare was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.

SWORD FIGHTER – Tightened for room at the start.

DOMINICO - Tightened for room at the start.

GAELIC HERO – Slow to begin.

GENERAL NICK – Bumped another runner at the start.

KIRKHEATON – Bumped another runner at the start.

MUGMARINO – Steadied momentarily near the 900m.

SKY DISK – Apprentice S. Chan reported the gelding did not handle today’s heavy track conditions.


Race 4: ANNIVERSAY CLASS 6 PLATE – 1000m
1st – NUDE SECRETS 2nd – GARDER LA FOI 3rd – MARBLE PRINCE 4th – BRITISH BULLDOG

POLAR BLITZ was declared a late scratching at 10.30am due to the track conditions.

SHREK HER OUT – Jockey S. Egan was permitted to ride the mare at 1.5kg over the allotted weight as no other riders were available. Began awkwardly and shifted in.

SKIDADDLE – Jockey T. Banks was permitted to ride the mare at 1kg over the allotted weight as no other riders were available.

FOUR JOY – Began awkwardly, then tightened for room and lost ground shortly after the start.

LOUPPY BEND – Trainer R. Connelly advised Stewards it was his intention to have the gelding ridden in a handy position today after leading at its most recent starts. Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the performance, jockey D. Brown reported that after racing wide throughout the gelding was unable to finish the race off, which he attributed to the heavy track conditions.

GARDER LA FOI – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.


Race 5: LIFE MEMBERS CLASS B HANDICAP – 1200m
1st – RUSTY MOTORBIKE 2nd – FLINERS LUCK 3rd – KEEP THE CURRENCY 4th – LUCKY BOBBY

MIRFAK was declared a late scratching at 10.30am as no rider was available.

ROGER RAMJET was declared a late scratching at 3.30pm as no rider was available.

The start of this race was delayed when ZAHA COUNTY dislodged its rider, broke through the running rail and galloped a significant distance before being recaptured. ZAHA COUNTY was declared a late scratching at 4.27pm by order of Stewards. All monies invested on ZAHA COUNTY were ordered to be refunded, with the following deductions applicable:

2 cents in the dollar for the winner #11
11 cents in the dollar for the place of winner #11
17 cents in the dollar for second place #6
19 cents in the dollar for third place #13
