Race 1: Mort & Co QTIS Maiden Plate 1000 metres:
1st – CHOI OI 2nd – DINKUMS DARLIN’ 3rd – HELLOW TUCKER 4th – DRAGON TOPS
CHOI OI – Bounded in the air at the start. Raced wide rounding the 800m turn.
DINKUMS DARLIN’ – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide rounding the 800m turn.
HELOW TUCKER – Tightened for room at the start between runners. Near the 800m had to be restrained from heels then raced wide from that point.
CRAIGLEA SACHA – Slow to begin then raced wide rounding the 800m turn.
MOJAVE ROYALE – Began awkwardly.
KAIDA – Shifted in under pressure in the straight.
LORD HAVOC – Jockey D Ballard reported that the gelding could not muster early speed then resented the kick back and hung out in the straight.
Race 2: Tropic Petroleum Patron’s Benchmark 65 Handicap 1000 metres:
1st – EXCEEDED 2nd – MONTH OF SUNDAYS 3rd – MORE THAN WILLING 4th – GHOST TRAIN
SIMON BON ROCKET – Raced wide throughout.
GIRLS WORLD – Raced wide throughout.
BEAU DASH – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
Race 3: Brodie Agencies Corfield Cup Benchmark 75 Handicap 1200 metres:
1st – ALL FIVES 2nd – BELLE EXPRESS 3rd – MISHANI PERSUADER 4th – STAR TRUCE
REIGNING TO WIN – Acting under the provisions of AR45B the 12yo gelding underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
BRUNNER – When no other suitable rider was available stewards permitted to jockey D Ballard to ride the gelding 3kg over its declared weight.
STEINBERG – Raced wide throughout.
PEACE TALKS – Raced wide throughout.
CHEERS BROWE – Stewards questioned jockey S Galvin regarding the poor performance. Jockey S Galvin explained that he intended to obtain a forward position however when runners to his outside showed superior speed and crossed CHEERS BROWE he felt that the gelding was never a winning chance from that point and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg and to be displaying soreness in its neck. Trainer Mr J Morris was advised that prior to racing again he would be required to furnish a veterinary certificate of fitness.
Race 4: Northern Rural Group Bracelet Benchmark 55 Handicap 1200 metres:
1st – COUNTY GOLD 2nd – ICE MELODY 3rd – CLICK UP 4th – DIAMONEEZE
TUNE UP WARRIOR – Was a late scratching at 12.30pm after injuring itself in the float en route. Trainer Mr R Kirkwood was told that prior to racing again he would be required to furnish a veterinary certificate of fitness.
FOUAREE – Slightly slow to begin.
PROUD WARRIOR – Raced wide rounding the 800m turn.
WHAT THE HECK – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
ICE MELODY – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
BILLY JAY – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
WULFIN – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
Race 5: Coffison & Sons Bulk Fuel Class B Handicap 800 metres:
1st – CAN’T FORGET 2nd – ZAHA DREAM 3rd – JESSETTE 4th – BACKTOSPEC
GEARSTICK – Was a late withdrawal after the trainer was informed that the gelding which was first emergency had gained to start however had already left to attend the meeting.
GLISTEN – Was a late withdrawal after the trainer was informed that the mare which was second emergency had gained to start however had already left to attend the meeting.
CAN’T FORGET – Was difficult to load into the barriers.
BACKTOSPEC – Bumped with another runner at the start.
TOP DECISION – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
JOYFUL – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
RAPID QUALO – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
THEATRE BOY – When questioned in relation to the poor performance jockey R Graham explained that after being bumped at the start the gelding settled further back than intended and as result failed to stretch out due to the kickback. He added that after rounding the home turn wide the gelding which was racing ungenerously due to the kickback, shifted in abruptly and made contact with inside running rail and became unbalanced and from this point took no competitive part in the event.
