SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS: Mareeba, 25th April 2015

RACE 1: Mareeba Mazda QTIS Maiden Plate - 1210m:

Following the disappointing performance of DIPLOMATIC today, stable representative Mr P. Rowe advised stewards that the gelding will now leave his stables.

RACE 3: Mareeba Leagues Club QTIS 3-Y-O Maiden Handicap - 1010m:

Following the disappointing performance of EFFERVESCENT, stable representative Mr P. Rowe advised stewards that the filly will now be leaving his stables.

RACE 1: ANZAC QTIS 2-Y-O Maiden Handicap - 950 metres
1st - ALL OUT ATTACK 2nd - CRAIGLEA DEKEN 3rd - SAGA'S PRINCESS 4th - ZOOLICIOUS

NEWMAN - Aggravated an old wound to its off hind pastern. The gelding was examined by the Club-s veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. At the start lost considerable ground (3 lengths). Trainer Ms M. Preston was advised that a warning will be placed on the gelding's racing manners.

SAGA'S PRINCESS - Began awkwardly.

CALEDONIAN ROSE - Was slow to begin.

ALL OUT ATTACK - Slow to begin.

CRAIGLEA SNAPPY - Raced wide throughout.

BOLT ON BY - Throughout the middle stages raced keenly.

MINNIE STREET - Raced keenly in the middle stages and had to be continually steadied away from the heels of runners in front.

CRAIGLEA DEKEN - Passing the 500 metres hung out, despite the efforts of its rider, carrying I WANNA BREAK FREE wider. Continued to lay out in the straight and proved difficult to ride. Stable representative for trainr K. Johnston was told that a warning will be placed on the gelding's racing manners.

I WANNA BREAK FREE - Passing the 500 metres was carried wider.

RACE 2: Remembering Our Fallen Soldiers Maiden Handicap - 950 metres
1st - LA JINETA 2nd - BELLS A RINGING 3rd - CLASSIC BURLESQUE 4th - PURRFECT TYCOON

PURRFECT TYCOON - Began awkwardly and lost ground, then raced keenly in the early stages.

CARRY ME LAD - Passing the 500 metres had to be steadied when racing tight to the inside of another runner.

LA JINETA - Made contact with another runner passing the 100 metres.

BELLS A RINGING - Was bumped passing the 100 metres.

RACE 3: Happy Birthday Margie Class 6 Plate - 1250 metres
1st - RADIANT ANGEL 2nd - MIATA 3rd - DEL PALIO 4th - BURT

DESTRUCTION - Was fractious in the barriers and then was slow to begin.

DEL PALIO - Was fractious in the barriers, began awkwardly and lost ground.

HARVEY THE RABBIT - When questioned regarding the gelding's poor performance Jockey P. Cullen stated that he was able to take up a prominent position, however in the straight laid in, brushed the running rail near the 200 metres and weakened from that point. Jockey Cullen added that in his opinion the gelding may have got its tongue over the bit.

RADIANT ANGEL - Apprentice K. Aho was reminded of her obligation under A.R. 137(b) to ride her mounts out right to the finish.

RACE 4: $135,000 In Prizes CJC 100 Club BenchMark 60 Handicap - 1250 metres
1st - WATCH THE RED 2nd - I'M MARIAH 3rd - JORDAN 4th - PALMERSTON NORTH

WATCH THE RED and MANDALONG PASS - Bumped on jumping.

Following the running of this race the track rating was upgraded to a Good 3.

RACE 5: Join The 2015 CJC 100 Club QTIS 3-Y-O Handicap - 1250 metres
1st - ONE BAR NONE 2nd - SUNSET IN NEW YORK 3rd - IN HIS ELEMENT 4th - MODEL TO EXCEED

ONE BAR NONE - Prior to the race sustained a minor laceration to the off side nostril, was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.

SUNSET IN NEW YORK - Proved difficult to load into the barriers. Trainer R. Baker was advised that a warning will be placed on the horse's barrier manners. Held up and unable to obtain clear running passing the 200 metres.

SHELLEY CHINA - Hung in in the early stages.

IN HIS ELEMENT - Approaching the 100 metres improved onto heels and had to be shifted to the inside to obtain clear running.

MAGICAL PRINT - Was slow to begin.

TRY ME DOL - Was buffeted shortly after the start.

RICHIE ROCKET - Raced wide throughout.

AVIATOR GIRL - Rounding the first turn, near the 1000 metres, had to be steadied when crowded between runners.

RACE 6: Racing Season Launch 7 May BenchMark 65 Handicap - 1500 metres
1st - FIELDS OF TUSCANY 2nd - STANDFORD 3rd - DATE WITH FATE 4th - TEST THE BEST

FAST 'N' SHARP - Had to be checked when crowded for room shortly after the start.

PACHAMAMA - Raced wide throughout.

KAMARAH - Held up on heels over the concluding stages.


RACE 7: Brothers Cairns Cup on Sale Open Handicap - 950 metres
1st - CHEVAL ARGENTE 2nd - FAST 'N' FEROCIOUS 3rd - STARLISTIC 4th - BLAME GAME

GLAURUNG - Passing the 500 metres shifted in and was tightened for room.

SEEK DE FORTUNE - Held up for clear running rounding the home turn, shifted out and bumped ALL THE TORQUE.

ALL THE TORQUE - Bumped rounding the home turn.

PRETTY BULLY - A post-race veterinary examination of the mare, which was slow to begin and failed to stretch out, despite the efforts of its rider, did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer J. Hassett was at a loss to epxlain the poor performance other than to say that the girth may have pinched the mare and prevented it from stretching out. She undertook to report to stewards if anything was amiss with the mare in the days following the race.

BLAME GAME - Approaching and passsing the 200 metres was held up when disappointed for a run to the outside of FAMILY FREEZE.

RACE 8: CJC Social Memberships Now Available Class 4 Handicap - 950 metres
1st - WISHFUL 2nd - MAURIZIO 3rd - RICH 'N' FAMOUS 4th - ACCIDENTAL

The declaration of correct weight was delayed whilst Jockey S. Wilson, the rider of MAURIZIO examined the photo finish. Having done so, he was satisfied with the judge's placings and correct weight was declared.

ROSE IN BLOOM - Was fractious in the barriers, began awkwardly.

WISHFUL - Raced wide throughout and laid in under pressure in the home straight.

MONDUKE - Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight was held up and unable to obtain clear running.

EREBUS - Near the 200 metres shifted in and bumped another runner.

NINETYNINE PERCENT - Near the 200 metres was bumped by another runner

DIVA DIOR - A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the mare had bled from both nostrils. Trainer A. Bailey was advised that, as this was the first time the horse had bled, it will be barred from racing for 3 months under A.R. 53A, and then only after a satisfactory gellop of at least 1000 metres in the presence of a steward.
