Passing the 500 metres SIGNIFICANT CHOICE (W. D'Avila) was buffeted between HARVEY THE RABBIT (S. Wilson), which shifted in marginally, and MIGHTY BENDER (M. Morris), which was bumped by INSIDE PAGE (R.Thompson), which shifted out when racing in restricted room. ROBBERS ROOST (App. S. Wiseman), which was following, clipped heels, blundered, shifted out abruptly and severely hampered ARMY OF ONE (S. Kaya).

RACE 4: Myer Spring Fashions Class 1 Handicap - 950 metres
1st - MAN AROUND TOWN 2nd - ALEXSTRASZA 3rd - ZINDZELA 4th - ROSIE'S COMMAND

ALPINE GOLD - Whilst leaving the enclosure struck the fence, was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.

DENIS THE DUDE - Began very awkwadly, threw its head back, then struck its rider, (R. Graham), in the face and took no competitive part in the event. Trainer Ms J. Hassett was told that a warning will be placed on the racing manners of DENIS THE DUDE. Subsequently Jockey Graham was examined by the Ambulance Officers and was deemed to be unfit to fulfil his further engagements. Substitutions were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Making the first turn, near the 500 metres, AUSSIE JEWEL raced ungenerously, shifted out and carried EXALTED WARRIOR out onto ROSIE'S COMMAND, which had to be checked when awkwardly placed on the heels of READ ALL AMOUT ME. ALPINE GOLD, which was following, clipped the heels of ROSIE'S COMMAND, blundered and almost fell.

ZINDZELA - Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight.

RACE 5: The People Cup Class 3 Handicap - 1400 metres
1st - STANDFORD 2nd - MONTANA 3rd - RISE TO THE TOP 4th - PRETTY VACANT

THE HAWK ETERNAL - When Jockey R. Graham was unable to fulfil his engagement and no other suitable rider was available, stewards permited Jockey K. Stone to ride the gelding 0.5 kg above its declared weight.

Stewards considered an objection lodged by P. Cullen, the rider of PRETTY VACANT, which finished 4th, against RISE TO THE TOP (W. D'Avila) being declared 3rd placegetter, alleging interference inside the final 200 metres. On the evidence it was established that approching the 100 metres RISE TO THE TOP, when attempting a narrow run to the inside of the winner, STANDFORD (App. S. Wiseman), shifted in and made contact with PRETTY VACANT. However, bearing in mind the minor nature of the interference and the manner in which both horses finished off the race, stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that had that interference not occurred, PRETTY VACANT would have finished ahead of RISE TO THE TOP. Therefore the objection was dismissed and correct weight declared on the judge's placings.

FOUR JAYS - Shifted out at the start and made contact with another runner.

DUKE OF CAMBRIDGE- Bumped at the start.

STANDFORD - Crowded for room shortly after the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

TETE DE SEAU - Made the first turn, near the 1000 metres, awkwardly.

MALIBU ROSE - Made contact with the running rail passing the 500 metres and shifted out.

Rounding the turn near the 500 metres THE HAWK ETERNAL (K. Stone) and DRAGON HART (S. Kaya)had to be steadied when crowded between HYDRIVE (D. Simmons), which shifted in marginally, and MALIBU ROSE (App. K. Aho), which shifted out despite the efforts of its rider.
Jockey S. Kaya pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under A.R.137(a) in that rounding the turn near the 1000 metres he allowed DRAGON HART to shift out when insufficiently clear of FOUR JAYS (R. Thompson), which was carried out onto the running of HYDRIVE (D. Simmons), which had to be checked and lost its rightful running. Jockey Kaya was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence at the expiration of a suspension he incurred last week, namely, 15th August 2015, up to and including 6th September, on which day he may resume riding, in assessing penalty stewards took into account Jockey Kaya's poor record in relation to the Rule.

RACE 6: Alsco BenchMark 65 Handicap - 1900 metres
1st - BLU AXIS 2nd - DATE WITH FATE 3rd - GO GIRLFRIEND 4th - HERE TO DASH

BLANCHARD BLOOM - After being placed in the barriers got its head down and broke through the front gate. Subsequently, acting on veterinary advice, stewards ordered that all bets made on BLANCHARD BLOOM be refunded in full and that the follow deductions apply:

21¢ in the dollar for the win for the winner, BLU AXIS
20¢ in the dollar for the place for the winner, BLU AXIS
18¢ in the dollar for the place for 2nd, DATE WITH FATE
14¢ in the dollar for the place for 3rd, GO GIRLFRIEND

ELECTRIC BLUE - Raced keenly in the early stages.

HERE TO DASH - After being caught wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward forward and take up a prominent position.

Stewards considered an objection lodged by Apprentice M. Kai, the rider of GO GIRLFRIEND which finished 4th, against DATE WITH FATE (Jockey S. Wilson) being declared 2nd, alleging interference in the home straight. On the evidence it was established that shortly after straightening DATE WITH FATE shifted out under pressure and carried GO GIRLFRIEND wider. However, from the 200 metres both horses had an unimpeded run to the finish. Bearing in mind the manner in which both horses went to the line, stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that GO GIRLFRIEND would have finished ahead of DATE WITH FATE. Accordingly, the protest was dismissed and correct weight declared on the judge's numbers.

Race 7: Brothers Lightning Open Handicap - 950 metres
1st - FAST'N'FEROCIOUS 2nd - ONE BAR NONE 3rd - HE'S A LADIES MAN 4th - WISHFUL

ARCATRAN - Trainer B. Williams was fined $300 UNDER A. R. 114 for failing to scratch the gelding by the prescribed time, which ultimately resulted in an emergency failing to obtain a start.

When questioned regarding the poor performance of CHEVAL ARGENTE, Jockey R. Thompson explained that after being momentarily crowded for soom shortly after the start, he had to continually ride his mount along in an attempt to obtain the lead, in accordance with its established racing pattern. He said that when unable to do this, his mount was constantly under pressure and never travelled comfortably. Jockey added that in his opinion the gelding performs better in races over a longer distance and when it is able to dictate the terms in front. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormalities.

WISHFUL - Laid in under pressure in the straight.

ONE BAR NONE - Raced wide throughout.
