Race 1: Cairns Mulch 100 Club QTIS Two-Years-Old Maiden Handicap 950 metres:
1st – MY GIRL’S A DRAGON 2nd – BE WHY OH 3rd – SHE’S GOT SWAGGER 4th – NEED FINANCE

The filly LADY DRUMMER, which had sustained injuries to the near hind leg and hip en route to the race meeting, was a late withdrawal at 12:20 pm on veterinary advice. Trainer Ms. L Ashford was advised that the filly would require a veterinary clearance prior to being permitted to race again.

NEED FINANCE – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Was inclined to race greenly throughout.

ZARA LOUISE – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Raced wide without cover for the majority.

SHE’S GOT SWAGGER - Was inclined to race greenly throughout.

The gelding WE JUST LOVE IT was examined by the veterinarian post-race and found to be displaying signs of mild shin soreness.

Race 2: Brazier Motti 100 Club Benchmark 60 Handicap 950 metres:
1st – RAPT IN RUMBA 2nd – ALL OUT ATTACK 3rd – JACSAID 4th – BESIEGED

BOLT FROM THE BLUE and BIG TOMEE were both withdrawn at 11:00am by order of Stewards as no riders were available.

The gelding HARVEY THE RABBIT, which shifted the near fore plate en route to the barriers, had both front shoes removed, and after being inspected by the veterinarian, was passed fit to start.

GLAURUNG – Was fractious in the barriers. Was slowly away after rearing as the gates opened.

BEARIZAN – Was slowly away.

ALL OUT ATTACK – Jumped awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early stages.

GENERAL BEEJAY – Raced wide rounding the home turn.

MASTER DANNY – Raced wide rounding the home turn.

Race 3: Westco Motors 100 Club Open Handicap 950 metres:
1st – BAR ATTACK 2nd – CHEVAL ARGENTE 3rd – ROSE OF CLARE 4th – LIDEEM

BAR ATTACK – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

ROSE OF CLARE - Bumped with another runner on jumping.

LIDEEM – Began awkwardly.

FRED THE LEGION – Raced wide without cover for the majority.

Race 4: Cairns Fencing Maiden Plate 1250 metres:
1st – CENTREHALF FORWARD 2nd – ZEDAHEEL 3rd – FEVERET 4th – CUT’N’POLISH

SADLERS QUEST – Was inclined to race ungenerously in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Trainer Mr R Baker undertook to notify Stewards should the gelding display any sign of injury in coming days.

DAWN’S DIAMOND – Was inconvenienced near the 600 metres after improving onto the heels of another runner.

CUT’N’POLISH – Hung out badly for the majority. Trainer Mr. R Fransen was advised that the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to being permitted to race again.

Following the running of this event Stewards cautioned Jockey S Wilson in relation to his use of the whip on CENTREHALF FORWARD in the home straight.

Race 5: Cairns Mulch Class 3 Plate 1250 metres:
1st – TESTAMYCOLOURS 2nd – FOUR JAYS 3rd – JUMBO RUMBO 4th – BONNIE BON BON

WICKED THOUGHTS – Was slowly into stride after being crowded between runners on jumping. Raced wide rounding the home turn.

FOUR JAYS – Was caught wide without cover in the early stages.
Was
JUMBO RUMBO – Was inclined to race ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Jockey S Wilson was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of AR137A(3) for excessive use of the whip in the home straight.

CAASHED UP BULLY – Had to be steadied near the 800 metres when awkwardly placed outside the heels of another runner.

BONNIE BON BON – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
