Race 4: Ritzco Homes QTIS 2yo Plate 1200 Metres:
Trainer Mr T Rowe reported that both SHE’S GOT SWAGGER and WILD AZ WILL pulled up with black eyes.

Race 5: Colliers International Townsville Weight For Age 1000 Metres:
Trainer Mr T Rowe reported that CHATEAU DETTORI had pulled up with black eyes.


Race 1: Winning Edge Presentations Ratings Band 0-45 Handicap 950 Metres.
1st – AUSSIE JEWEL 2nd – HELOW TUCKER 3rd – BAR BABY 4th – PRIMED FOR ACTION

FOURSREAL – Was crowded at the start and lost ground.

Approaching the turn near the 500 metres HELOW TUCKER (Apprentice N Nelson) which was racing keenly, improved to the inside of AUSSIE JEWEL (Jockey F Edwards), then shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider and crowded FOURSREAL (Apprentice M Kai) in onto the fence. Apprentice N Nelson was advised that she should have made a greater effort to restrain her mount rather than improve into a run where there was doubtful room. Trainer Mr R Nelson was advised by Stewards that bearing in mind the racing manners of HELOW TUCKER that he should engage a senior rider at the gelding’s next race start.

Race 2: Mortgage Choice Cairns Benchmark 50 Handicap 1250 Metres.
1st – AVIATOR GIRL 2nd – PHANTOM SOX 3rd – SAGA’S PRINCESS 4th – FAST ‘N’ SHARP

When Apprentice M Kai was dually engaged due to a misunderstanding, Stewards permitted Jockey K Rockett to replace him as the rider of DRAGON HART.

CASHED UP BULLY – Slow to begin.

THE HAWK ETERNAL – Crowded at the start.

SAGA’S PRINCESS – Rounding the turn near the 500m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed tight to the inside of another runner.

JUMBO RUMBO – On return to scale Apprentice K Aho reported that although her mount was caught wide it never travelled comfortably at any stage and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr S Cooper said that the gelding would now be spelled.

Race 3: Edmonton Plumbing Open Handicap 1250 Metres.
1st – GUNDY STAR 2nd – HERE TO DASH 3rd – KAMARAH 4th – CANHEDANCE

MISHANI PERSUADER – On leaving the enclosure struck the fence then underwent a veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.

KING MAGNUSSON – When questioned in relation to the poor performance Jockey K Stone explained that his mount raced keenly in the lead and refused to settle and for this reason the gelding was left without a finishing effort. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Race 4: CSF Industries Benchmark 60 Handicap 950 Metres.
1st – ROYAL PHYSCIAN 2nd – ARCANUS 3rd – HYDRIVE 4th – LADY FOXY

DESTRUCTION – Was a late scratching at 3.11pm after rearing in the barriers and becoming cast. Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all bets placed on DESTRUCTION be refunded in full and all other successful bets made on the race prior to 3.11pm be subject to the following deductions;
17c win 18c place ROYAL PHYSICIAN
21c place ARCANUS
17c place HYDRIVE

Trainer Mr F Wieland said that DESTRUCTION would now leave his stable, however was advised that bearing mind the geldings poor record in relation to its barrier manners it would be required to complete three consecutive successful barrier trials prior to again being permitted to start in a race and if the gelding performs similarly in the future Stewards would consider refusing its nomination.
