Stewards questioned Apprentice Ms Shred in regards to the tactics she adopted on the mare in particular the early and middle stages of the race. Ms Shred explained she was given no firm instructions other than to ride the horse forward. After viewing of the film Ms Shred agreed she erred in the early and middle stages and was disappointed she did not use different options available to her particularly approaching the 950m when there was an opportunity to ease behind the pace and take a sit. Trainer and master, Mr A. Bailey confirmed his instructions and was also in agreeance other options would have been more desirable. Stewards after considering the evidence and viewing of the race film admonished Ms Shred and advised her they would expect better judgement in similar circumstances. Ms Shred and Mr Bailey were advised this matter would be referred to Queensland Racing Apprentice Mentor for further tutorial.
