GENERAL
 
Following a steward’s inspection after further rain over night the track was reassessed to be a Heavy (8) at 10.15am.
 
Race 1: HURNEY PARTNERS QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 950 metres
 
LORD POWER – Rider L. Morrison became momentarily unbalanced on jumping.
 
BORLOTTI BEANS – Made the 700 metre crossing awkwardly.
 
ALEXANDRA MARGARET – Made the 700 metre crossing awkwardly.
 
Race 2: ASTUTE FINANCE - DONNIE MARTIN Maiden Plate 1400 metres
 
REDENZO ROMAN – Began awkwardly and shifted out tightening runners to its outside.
 
JESKO – Tightened for room on jumping. Rider J. Baker was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(5) in that he used his whip 15 times in totality which is one more than is permitted.
 
MATTHEW JAMES – Began awkwardly and inconvenienced when bumped on jumping. Laid out for the majority of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be sore in both front hooves. Trainer P. Rowe was advised he must provide a veterinary certificate of soundness prior to its next race start or trial.
 
TEN SCHILLING – Tightened for room on jumping. Over-raced in the early stages. A post-race veterinarian examination of the gelding revealed a laceration to its near hind lower leg and a tendon strain to its near front leg. Trainer A. Bailey was advised he must provide a veterinary certificate of soundness prior to its next race start or trial.
 
KIM ALICIA – Tightened for room on jumping.
 
Race 3: CCW CABINET WORKS OPEN Handicap 1400 metres
 
INCHING CLOSER – Slow to begin. Restrained off heels leaving the 800 metres.

BATTLE CRY – Slow to begin.

EL OF A SAGA – Tendency to over-race in the early stages. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
TENNESSEE BOY – Raced ungenerously approaching the 1000 metres throwing its head in the air.
 
BUXTON – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race.Rider dropped her whip approaching the winning post.
 
Race 4: BUGEJA EARTHMOVING BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1500 metres
 
RIGHT BOWER – As the gelding had competed at Mareeba 14/05/2022, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. As jockey A. Thomson was unable to make the allotted weight, she was replaced by jockey S. Wilson.
 
HOT TOP – Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
BORN TO SUCCEED – Over-raced in the early and middle stages throwing its head in the air when being restrained.
 
Race 5: NQPS SECURITY QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1250 metres
 
DOVI'S DAY – Slow to begin. Rider J. Doolan advised stewards on returning to scale that the bit on the gelding became displaced in its mouth on jumping, placing her at a disadvantage.

WAKE UP SOO – Slow to begin.
 
AIDAN ROCKET – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
Race 6: TOLLY SIGNS QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1250 metres
 
TOP CEEDEE – As the filly had competed at Mareeba 14/05/2022, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
GETITON – Slow to begin. Rider S. Sheargold advised stewards on returning to scale the gelding was reluctant to stretch out on todays track conditions. Rider dropped his whip leaving the 200 metres. A post-race veterinary failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer I. Coleman gave an undertaking to advise stewards should anything come to his attention in the oncoming days that may have had a bearing on its performance today.  
 
SZYMANOWSKI – Slow to begin. Raced greenly in the early and middle stages having to be restrained leaving the 1000 metres.
 
AIR FORCE ACE – Rider J. Baker advised stewards on returning to scales that the gelding felt awkward in its action over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.   
 
Race 7: GRUBBY'S 60TH BIRTHDAY BASH Class 6 Handicap 1250 metres
 
FUDGING – As jockey A. Thomson was unable to make the allotted weight, she was replaced by jockey S. Wilson. Ms Thomson was issued a steward’s direction that she is not permitted to accept rides under 55 kilograms until further notice and able to prove consistency of maintaining a consistent weight.
 
PRIME RULER – Restrained from heels leaving the 1000 metres. Shifted out near the 400 metres brushing LOVE EXPRESS.
 
LOVE EXPRESS – Brushed by PRIME RULER which shifted out near the 400 metres.  
 
Race 8: ORRCON STEEL Class 2 Handicap 1250 metres
 
YOSHI TORANAGA – Lunged forward just prior to the start resulting in jockey B. Thomson becoming unbalanced and as result lost ground.
 
ARAWELO – Shifted out at the start bumping AVATEA and became unbalanced.
 
AVATEA – Shifted in at the start bumping ARAWELO.
 
CUNNAMULLA – Raced ungenerously in the middle stages and had a tendency lay in. Rider N. Day advised that in his opinion the gelding was not comfortable on today’s track conditions.
 
Race 9: HUNT REALTY BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 950 metres
 
REACHFORTHESTARS – Slow to begin.
 
ENDORSE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
STRATEGIST – Slow to begin.
 
ELA BEACH – Bumped on the hind quarters shortly after the start and became unbalanced.  
 
BELLEVITA – Shifted out shortly after the start bumping ELA BEACHon the hind quarters.
 
ENDORSE – Rider N. Day was cautioned in relation to the height of his whip action.
