VEE EIGHT POWER – Bounded in the air on jumping and lost ground. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. Raced greenly for the majority of the race.
 
LORD POWER – Over-raced for some distance when crossed by another runner approaching the 1000 metres.
 
GO GETABOY – Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
Race 2: FUTURE COMPUTERS BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1250 Metres
 
MY SISTER SAL – As jockey S. Pawsey was unable to make the allotted weight he was replaced by A. Layt. S. Pawsey was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR190(3)
 
KOHEETO – Began awkwardly.

SWANKY SUE – Slow into stride.
 
INDICTMENT – Improved into a narrow run approaching the winning post bumpingWILD IRISH which shifted out and was bumped on the hind quarters before brushing NANTUCKET.
 
NANTUCKET – Brushed approaching the winning post.
 
WILD IRISH – Shifted out slightly under pressure approaching the winning post and was bumped on the hind quarters.
 
CAIERON – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 3: TAB BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1250 Metres
 
BELLE ADELE – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
TOFF ROCKS – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
YOSHI TORANAGA – Over-raced in the early stages. Laid in under pressure near the 200 metres.
 
ROUGH CUT JEWEL – Shifted in near the 1000 metres placing NORWEGIAN WOOD in restricted room. Rider B. Pengelly was reprimanded and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
 
NORWEGIAN WOOD – Restrained near the 1000 metres when placed in restricted room.
 
SERENATA – Restrained off heels near the 700 metres.
 
Race 4: ALBERT PARK PUNTERS CLUB BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1500 Metres
 
STATS – Slow to begin. Restrained off heels near the 700 metres.
 
AS YAWOOD – Shifted in at the start bumping GOLDEN CHANCES.
 
GOLDEN CHANCES – Bumped on jumping. Over-raced in the middle stages.

VULPES – Shifted wider leaving the 1000 metres.
 
HERVOR – Shifted wider leaving the 1000 metres.
 
NOIR JACK – Restrained near the 700 metres when racing in restricted room.
 
Race 5: MAGIC MILLIONS DAINTREE GUINEAS QTIS 4YO Handicap 1500 Metres
 
ROYAL ARCHER –Trainer G. Holt was severely reprimanded in that she failed to comply with a steward’s directive and apply for permitted overweight of the gelding by the appropriate time.
 
MODERN LEGEND – Began awkwardly.
 
LORD OF LIGHT – Crowded for room on jumping and lost ground.
 
KING JESTER – Shifted in at the start crowding LORD OF LIGHT.
 
SPIRIT MEISTER – Over-raced for a short distance approaching the 1000 metres. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
FIRE KING – Raced wide for the majority of the race. Lost its near fore plate approaching the 50 metres.  
 
SANTA MARINELLA – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
GOLD TRICKLE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 6: FGF BITUMEN Class 4 Handicap 950 Metres
 
VELOURS BLEU – Made contact with the enclosure fence entering the track and underwent a veterinary examination on arriving at the barriers and was cleared to start. Raced in restricted room near the 500 metres. Became unbalanced when crowded for room near the 400 metres by ALI’S JAB which shifted in slightly, when over-racing.
 
STARFILLY – Began awkwardly and shifted in bumping with ARISE MY SON. Raced wide rounding the home-turn.
 
MYMILL – Slow to begin.
 
ARISE MY SON – Shifted out at the start bumping STARFILLY.Raced wide rounding the home-turn.
 
ALI'S JAB – Commenced to over-race leaving the 500 metres and shifted in slightly near the 400 metres crowding VELOURS BLEU.
 
JUST A LOVE SONG – Raced wide rounding the home-turn.
 
SARANDOS – Over-raced in the middle stages. Held up for clear running near the 200 metres.   
 
Race 7:BABINDA ELECTRICS LIGHTNING OPEN Handicap 950 Metres
 
SILENT EXPLORER –As the gelding had not competed for an extended period it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
SYLVESTER –As the gelding had not competed for an extended period it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Rider S. Sheargold dismounted after passing the winning post when of the opinion it was awkward in its action. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
KAHUNA –As the gelding had not competed for an extended period it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Began awkwardly and lost ground.  
 
RAISE DA VIBRATION – Slow to begin
 
TENNESSEE BOY – Slow to begin.
 
CUPID'S SON – Shifted in under pressure near the 100 metres.
 
Race 8: RED BERET HOTEL CAIRNS CUP 2100 Metres
 
SOUTH PACIFIC – As jockey S. Pawsey was unable to make the allotted weight he was replaced by G. Kliese. S. Pawsey was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR190(3)
 
PLANET WARRIOR –Jockey A. Laytwas severely reprimanded in that he failed to comply with a steward’s directive and failed to inform the trainer when accepting the engagement to apply for permitted overweight of the gelding by the appropriate time. Crowded for room on the turn out of straight on the first occasion. Raced in restricted room near 500 metres and was steadied.   
 
NAMAZU – Made contact with the enclosure fence entering the track and underwent a veterinary examination on arriving at the barriers and was cleared to start. Shifted wider leaving the 800 metres.
 
RULE THE WORLD – Began very awkwardly and lost ground.
 
BULLION WOLF – Made the 750 metre crossing awkwardly.
 
PLAY ME NOW (NZ) Shifted wider leaving the 800 metres.  
 
FAST TRAIN –Shifted wider leaving the 800 metres.  
 
ARCTIC WOLF Shifted wider leaving the 800 metres.  
 
BERING SEA – Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
LOUIS JANUARY – On returning to scale jockey R. Fradd advised stewards the gelding in his opinion was disappointing and failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure. Trainer J. Wehlow was of opinion the gelding has come to end of its current preparation and it is now his intention to send it LOUIS JANUARY for a spell.

Race 9:CSF INDUSTRIES Class 6 Plate 1250 metres 1250 Metres
 
TEMPO (NZ) –As jockey A. Layt was unable to fulfil his riding engagement due to transportation requirements, he was replaced by S. Pawsey. Slow to begin.
 
BRILLIANT MIND – Slipped over when being led to the course from its oncourse stable. A pre-race veterinary examination revealed soreness in its near hind leg. As such the gelding was declared a late scratching at 4.04pm. As oncourse betting on the event had not yet commenced no deductions were applicable. Trainer S. Massingham was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to the gelding racing or trialling again.

ALL TO DO – Commenced to over-race early and made the 1000 metre turn awkwardly.
