As jockey’s N. Thomas and C. Spry were not riding at today’s meeting, they were replaced as per steward’s summary.
The following overweight permitted:
Race 2, Shez Bean Talkin’ – C. Whiteley + .50kg
Race 3, Haneda – S. Sheargold + .50kg
Race 4, Little Miss Quinn – S. Sheargold + .50kg, Rothgurl – N. Day + 1kg

Race 1: GREAT BARRIER ROOF QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden
Handicap 940 metres
READY BOSS – Became unbalanced near the 550 metres and was steadied.Shifted wider round the home turn.
MYCARSABITRUSTY – Began awkwardly and shifted in hampering MISHANI EAGLE.
MISHANI EAGLE – After being initially slow to begin was then hampered by MYCARSABITRUSTY which began awkwardly and shifted in.
PUSS BOOTS – Shifted wider round the home turn.
Race 2: 99.5 TRIPLE M CAIRNS QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 940 metres
ALEXANDRA MARGARET – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Restrained from heels approaching the 200 metres.
EVIL WOMAN – Began awkwardly. Saddle shifted back on jumping placing N. Day at a disadvantage. Shifted in soon after the start hampering MINIEST. Raced wide for the majority.
MINIEST – Steadied from heels shortly after the start.
BORLOTTI BEANS –Raced wide for the majority.
Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to a soft (7) retrospective to race 1.
Race 3: NORLIFT BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 940 metres
SOUTHERN MISSILE – As the gelding had not raced for a long period of time it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Buffeted between runners shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority. Jockey M. Abe reported following the race that the gelding felt awkward in its action and for this reason did not pressure it over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer T. Rowe advised he would have further examinations conducted at a later date and would advise stewards should anything of concern be detected.
HEADLANDER – Slow to begin.
BOOMALINA – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
SNAP CHAT – Over-raced in the middle stages.
TRINITY MISSILE – Raced wide for the majority. When asked to explain its performance jockey N. Day was unable to offer any tangible explanation other than the gelding may not have been comfortable on today’s soft conditions. Trainer S. Royes agreed with the assessment. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Race 4: SHOEY MEMORIAL Maiden Handicap 1250 metres
GREAT SURVEY – Slow to begin.
VERDANSK – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority.
ALONTRO – Restrained off heels near the 900 metres.
MUTAFIQ – Over-raced in the middle stages.
ROTHGURL – Over-raced in the middle stages.
CRAIGLEA CLIO – Laid in near the 350 metres and was steadied.
LITTLE MISS QUINN – When questioned regarding the tactics today trainer J. Wehlow advised it was the mares first start for the stable following a spell, however it had led in a barrier trial in lead up to today’s race and as such, he was not surprised with it leading today.
Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to a soft (6)
Race 5: LOCAL TRADE SUPPLIES BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1250 metres
COUNT OF CARFORD – Crowded for room on jumping.
SMARTY LEE – Over-raced in the middle stages.
Race 6: CENTURY CRANES BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1250 metres
WINDS OF WAR – Slow to begin.
MISHANI MENACE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
COOPER GEM – Began awkwardly and inconvenienced soon after the start. Over-raced in the middle stages.
RAMBLIN' MAN – Shifted out soon after the start inconveniencing COOPER GEM. Rider C. Jokic was advised to exercise more care.
TEN SCHILLING – Commenced to over-race approaching the 1000 metres and shifted out near the 950 metres inconveniencing ALWAYS WRITTEN OFF.
ALWAYS WRITTEN OFF – Inconvenienced near the 950 metres when TEN SCHILLING shifted out when over-racing. Over-raced in the middle stages and shifted out near the 850 metres STAR MIDFIELDER.
STAR MIDFIELDER – Bumped near the 850 metres and forced wider. Raced wide for the majority.
Race 7: CAIRNS HARDWARE OPEN Handicap 1400 metres
MEMBERS ONLY – Slow to begin.
LORD OF LIGHT – Shifted inwards on jumping, bumping with MYSTERY 'N' MAGIC.
MYSTERY 'N' MAGIC – Bumped on jumping. Slow into stride. Had a tendency to over-race in the early stages.
