GENERAL
 
The following runners which had not raced for an extended period all underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were cleared to start.  
Lady Damus, Chasing Dreams, Heirborn, Rock Spur, Boomed, Ma Ma’s Rose.

Race 1: LADBROKE IT! QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 950 Metres
 
WHITTY'S DREAM – Slow to begin. Made the 750-metre crossing awkwardly. Shifted out near the 800 metres bumping MISSION ESTATE. Raced greenly throughout the race and was reluctant to hold its position inside other runners.
 
MISSION ESTATE – Slow to begin. Bumped near the 800 metres.
 
CARESSING RUPERT – Slow into stride. Raced wide with cover for the majority of the race.
 
LADY DAMUS – Began awkwardly.
 
SIMPLY BETTER – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
Race 2: HIT FM CAIRNS QTIS Maiden Handicap 950 metres
 
CONQUERED JOURNEY – On arriving at the barriers itunderwent a veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to be lame in the off-front leg and was subsequently declared a late scratching scratching at 1.44pm. All monies invested on CONQUERED JOURNEY were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 1:44pm.

Trainer R. Miller was advised he will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance of soundness prior to the horse racing or trialing again.
 
NORTHERN GIRL – Fractious during its preliminary in the saddling enclosure. Trainer M. Potiris was advised a warning would be placed on its pre-race behaviour. Slow to begin.
 
HEARTSAREROMAN – Slow to begin.Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
IMPEACHER – Slow into stride.
 
BLOOMIN' RIPPER – When asked to explain the filly’s performance today jockey L. Morrison explained it felt awkward in its action and had a tendency to lay out for the majority of the race. Trainer S. Hoffman explained the filly had only been in the stable for a short period of time and in her opinion would take benefit from today’s race. Lost its off-front plate during running. A post-race veterinary examination found no significant findings although the lost plate may have attributed to some discomfort.
 
Race 3: MAN OVERBOARD MENSWEAR QTIS Two-Year-Old & Three-Year-Old Maiden Handi 1250 metres
 
MOON MISSILE – Restrained and lost ground when tightened for room on jumping.
 
HEROIC KNIGHT – Shifted out at the start tightening MOON MISSILE which was restrained and lost ground.
 
STEEL GRIT – Bumped on the hind quarters on jumping and shifted in crowding MOON MISSILE. Made the 1000 metres turn awkwardly.
 
BRAVE INTENT – Over-raced in middle stages.
 
THE BISHOP – Over-raced for a short distance near the 1000 metres. Made the 750 metre crossing awkwardly.
 
JAZZ WORTHY – Raced wide without cover form the majority of the race.
 
Race 4: MASSINGHAM RACING BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1500 metres
 
TOFF ROCKS – Slow to begin.
 
WHY WOULDN'T YOU – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
HEALING GAME – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
VANDANGLE – Raced wide in the early stages until improving forward to race outside the leader near the 800 metres.
 
Race 5: EDMONTON PLUMBING OPEN Handicap 1250 metres
 
HEIRBORN– Bumped the running rail entering the course proper, underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was cleared to start.
 
ROCK SPUR – Slow to begin.
 
MAQUEREAU – Bounded in the air on jumping. Commenced to over-race near the 1000 metres and shifted out racing wide from that point onwards.
 
TUTELAGE – Began awkwardly.
 
EL OF A SAGA – Commenced to over-race approaching the 1000 metres becoming awkwardly placed inside the heels of HEIRBORN having to be restrained and shifted out racing wide from that point onwards.
 
FULL RECOGNITION – Shifted out to obtain clear running near the 200 metres forcing OUR CHIQUILLA wider.
 
OUR CHIQUILLA – Forced wider near the 200 metres.
 
MODERNISM – Laid in under pressure near the 200 metres having to be steadied from the heels of OUR CHIQUILLA which shifted out when forced wider by FULL RECOGNITION.
 
Race 6: CAIRNS DIESEL SERVICE PTY LTD BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1250 metres
 
BROADWAY BABE – The start was delayed when jockey M. Abe became unbalanced and was dislodged when being legged onto the horse.Slow to begin.
 
FIVE BULLS – Slow to begin.
 
BELLE ADELE – Slow to begin. Eased down in home straight when jockey S. Sheargold felt something was amiss with the mare. A veterinary examination revealed no significant finding. Trainer R. Baker was of the opinion the mare may have choked down during running and he will experiment with a gear change prior to its next start giving an undertaking to advise stewards if anything comes to his attention after returning to its stable that may have had a bearing on today’s performance.

SILLMAN – Bounded in the air on jumping and lost ground.
 
BOOMED – Raced ungenerously for a short distance when being restrained from its wide barrier to take a position closer to the inside running rail.  
 
Race 7: CCW CABINET WORKS PTY LTD Class 6 Handicap950 metres
 
NEVER CRY – Bumped the running rail entering the course proper, underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was cleared to start.
 
AVATEA – Slow to begin. Bumped shortly after the start.
 
MEMBERS ONLY – Slow to begin and unable to muster any early speed becoming tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
BONYTHON – Began awkwardly and lost ground, shifted in bumping AVATEA.
 
KING JESTER – Shifted inwards near the 200 metres and again approaching the winning post bumping with ALL TO DO. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
ALL TO DO – Shifted outwards near the 200 metres and again approaching the winning post bumping with KING JESTER.
 
LOUD NOISE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
