Race 1: KENFROST HOMES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1500M

VICTORY FOR US – Bumped on jumping. Over-raced in the early stages. Bumped near the 200 metres.

MODERN LEGEND – Slow into stride. Crowded for room near the 100 metres.

IMPEACHER – Shifted out at the start bumping VICTORY FOR US.

HOW DO YOU SLEEP – Shifted in shortly after the start bumping heavily with PREMIUM STAR which shifted in bumping LADY DAMUS.

PREMIUM STAR – Bumped on jumping. Shifted in leaving the 100 metres bumping WINDPIPE.

WINDPIPE – Bumped near the 100 metres.

MISSION HOUSE – Bumped near the 200 metres. Shifted out approaching the 300 metres when insufficiently clear of IMPEACHER which clipped that runner’s heels and blundered. Jockey J. Murphy pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of 131(a) in that he shifted out when not clear. After considering all of the evidence and his recent good record along with his guilty plea jockey J. Murphy’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days, commencing midnight Tuesday 12/09/23 and to expire midnight 21/09/2023. Jockey J. Murphy was advised of his appeal rights.

CALDANTE – Over-raced in the early stages.

EMATHION – Raced wide for the majority.

DRAGON SONG - Raced wide for the majority.

BELLA'S IN COMMAND – Raced wide for the majority.

Race 2: MARANO'S FUEL CAIRNS AMATEURS COMMITTEE CLASS 3 PLATE 1250M

DELUXE LEGEND – Slow to begin.

SPEED LEGEND – Slow into stride. Improved onto heels near the 500 metres and was steadied.

DARK HORSE – Over-raced in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off-front leg. Trainer S. Cooper was advised he must provide a veterinary certificate of soundness prior to the horse trialling or racing again.

CROWNING MOMENT – Had a tendency to lay out losing ground near the 500 metres and continued to lay out in the home straight proving difficult to ride.

PITCHFORK – Raced wide for the majority.

SEALION – Raced wide for the majority.

COUNTER COMMAND – Raced wide for the majority.

Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to a Good (4) retrospective of Race 1.

Race 3: NORWELD QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1250M

BETTA AL – Shifted in at the start making heavy contact with NAZORIAN. Made the 800 metre crossing awkwardly.

NAZORIAN – Bumped heavily on jumping and shifted in bumping TURN BIRD. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Jockey R. Wiggins explained the gelding over-raced in the early and middle stages however failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. He further added it was its first start from a spell and being fresh. Trainers representative R. Ryan agreed with jockey R. Wiggins assessment. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

TURN BIRD – Bumped on jumping. Made the 1000 metre turn awkwardly.

TANOSHI – Over-raced in the early and middle stages.

MASHANI EAGLE – Jockey N. Thomas was attended to by the QAS following the race after returning scale in a distressed state. Following an examination jockey N. Thomas was cleared to fulfill he’s remaining engagements for the day.

Race 4: BRISBANE RACING CLUB MAIDEN PLATE 1500M

RISKED IT – Shifted out at the start bumping DELANCY. Shifted out near the 100 metres and when being corrected shifted in abruptly inconveniencing TRAJIC FRIENDS which had improved to its inside having to be checked. Whilst stewards noted the circumstances jockey P. Romeo was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.

SPRING'S GIFT – Slow to begin. Shifted in near the 200m under pressure bumping JESKO which became unbalanced. Raced wide for the majority.

DELANCY – Bumped on jumping.

DUYFKEN – Slow to begin.

CODY'S BOY – Raced ungenerously in the early stages.

JESKO – Bumped near the 200 metres becoming unbalanced. Raced wide for the majority.

TRAJIC FRIENDS – Checked near the 100 metres when disappointed for a run.

Race 5: PRESIDENT'S CUP BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1900M

READY BY DESIGN – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

CETSHWAYO – Fractious in the barriers and was slow to begin.

RECONDITE (IRE) – Momentarily held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

PRINCE AKEEM – Over raced in the middle stages.

MA MA'S ROSE – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

WHY WOULDN'T YOU – Raced ungenerously in the early stages.

Race 6: GREAT NORTHERN BREWING CO CAIRNS AMATEUR CUP 2100M

STAR STATUS – Slow to begin. Raced wide leaving the 800 metres.

STAR STATUS – Slow to begin. Raced wide leaving the 800 metres.

SIREN ROCK – Laid in leaving the 300 metres brushing the running rail.

ARMOUR FORCE – Restrained off heels near the 600 metres and again near the 500 metres. Shifted out to obtain clear running near the 200 metres and was disappointed for a run when OLYMPIC KORCHNOI shifted in under pressure simultaneously.

OLYMPIC KORCHNOI (BRZ) – As jockey M. Abe was indisposed, he was replaced by jockey R. Downey. Shifted in under pressure near the 200 metres when tiring, inconveniencing ARMOUR FORCE which shifted out. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

TUTELAGE – Lost ground approaching the home turn hampering ARMOUR FORCE.

SAYL (GB) – Rider S. Apthorpe pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132 (7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 9 times prior to the 100 metres which is 4 more times than is permitted. Jockey Apthorpe was fined the sum of $400.00.

DON ARCANGELO – Rider N. Thomas pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132 (7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 6 times prior to the 100 metres which is 1 more than is permitted. Jockey Thomas was reprimanded. This was his second breach of this rule.

Race 7: CENTURY CRANES SIR WILLIAMS OBE CLASS 6 PLATE 950M

GAME THEORY – Trainer G. Smith was severely reprimanded in that he presented the gelding with pre-race earmuffs that were incorrectly fitted and resulted in a delay to the start of the race.

STRATEGIST – Slow to begin.

LOBURN LASS – Slow to begin and was bumped shortly after the start and lost ground.

DENIMS – Slow to begin. Checked near the 500 metres when crowded for room.

CIAO BICKY – Was bumped heavily on jumping and lost ground.

ALL TIME LEGEND – Slow to begin.

ALL TO DO – Tightened for room on jumping.

MORE THE MERRIER – Shifted in crowding runners to its inside near the 500 metres. Stewards inquired into the reason DENIMS was checked near the 500 metres, after hearing all of the evidence and viewing the footage jockey G. Cartwright was given the benefit of the doubt and no further action was taken.

PHANTOM SPIRIT – Shifted out on jumping tightening runners to its outside. Approaching the 500m momentarily shifted in and away from MORE THE MERRIER which shifted in slightly and in doing so crowded the running of DENIMS.

VAPORIZING – Raced wide for the majority.

KNOCKKNEE – Raced wide for the majority.

XTRAYYA – Raced wide for the majority.

Race 8: TAB CAIRNS AMATEUR SPRINT 1400M

WREN'S DAY (USA) – Trainer L. Gough was fined the sum of $200.00 under the provisions of LR 67(1) in that he failed to declare a rider by the prescribed time. Raced wide for the majority.

CONSTANT FLIGHT – Tightened between runners on jumping. Rider G. Cartwright pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132 (7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip 6 times prior to the 100 metres which is 1 more than is permitted. Jockey Cartwright was fined the sum of $300.00 This was her fourth breach of this rule.

ZOUVILLA – Slow to begin.

LE VIZIR – Bumped on jumping.

O'MUDGEE (NZ) – Tightened between runners on jumping and was slow into stride.

SMART IMAGE – Shifted out at the start tightening runners to its outside.

YES DREAM – Over-raced in the early stages. Raced wide for the majority.

HE'S XCEPTIONAL – Shifted out near the 400 metres bumping heavily with INVESTOR which in turn shifted out inconveniencing MISS SEATTLE. Jockey A. Layt was severely reprimanded and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances. Rider A. Layt pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132 (7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip 7 times prior to the 100 metres which is 2 more than is permitted. Jockey Layt was reprimanded. This was his second breach of this rule.

MISS SEATTLE – Inconvenienced near the 400 metres.

INVESTOR – Bumped heavily near the 400 metres. Raced wide for the majority.

LOVE ON SUNDAY – Raced wide for the majority.
