RACE 1: LIGHT HORSE CHARGE BEERSHEBA CLASS B HCP – 800M

BAY HERO – Bumped by another runner at the start.

MIRFAK – Made contact with another runner at the start.

STONEYRISE – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Rider reported at scale that the gelding was inclined to lay in in the early stages of the event.

CAPTAIN BERNIE – Laid in over the concluding stages of the event.


RACE 2: GALLIPOLI MAIDEN PLATE – 1000M

DARKNESS ABOVE underwent a veterinary examination at the barriers and was subsequently withdrawn by stewards acting on veterinary advice at 2:16pm. All bets invested on DARKNESS ABOVE were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and place-getters prior to 2:16pm:

O cents in the dollar for the win #2 (WHERE’S JIMMY)
6 cents in the dollar for place of the winner #2 (WHERE’S JIMMY)
10 cents in the dollar for 2nd place getter #4 (BURKETOWN LARRIKIN)

Trainer W. Baker was advised by stewards that DARKNESS ABOVE must obtain a veterinary clearance prior to being permitted to race again.

CELEBRATION MISS – Knuckled on jumping away.

SNIPPIN’ TRISH – Knuckled on jumping away.

HEARTOFTHEOUTBACK – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

WHERE’S JIMMY – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.


RACE 3: LEST WE FORGET CLASS 3 PLATE – 1000M

FISCAL CLIFF – Began awkwardly and was then tightened for room between runners and lost ground. Made the home turn very wide. Checked near the 200m and lost ground. Subsequently, jockey J. Rudd, the rider of BRITISH BULLDOG, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that he permitted his mount to shift in at that point of the race when not sufficiently clear of FISCAL CLIFF. J. Rudd’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period covered by 1 country race meeting, to commence at midnight, 25th April and to expire at midnight, 2nd of May.

CRAIGLEA EVITA – Resented the kick back throughout and rounding the home turn made heavy contact with the running rail becoming unbalanced.


RACE 4: ANZAC COVE LANDING 100 YRS OPEN HCP – 1200M

Due to a shortage in available riders at today’s meeting and after consultation with Trainer R. Frazer, C. Bryen was declared as the rider of CRAWFISH and permitted to ride overweight by 1.5kg.

PRESIDENTIAL – Had its head turned at the start of the event and lost ground.

BRITISH BULLDOG – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

BIG BAD JOEL – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

PRIVATE DOWNS – Tightened for room at the start between runners and as a result lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the event.


RACE 5: LONE PINE QTIS BMK 60 HCP – 1400M

HILDESHEIM was a late scratching at 1:32pm due to there being no available rider.

ARCTIC RED was fractious in its stall, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was subsequently withdrawn by stewards acting on veterinary advice at 3:55pm. All bets invested on ARCTIC RED were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on the winner and placed on the winner and place-getters prior to 3:55pm:

O cents in the dollar for the win #1 (BLUE JEST)
4 cents in the dollar for place of the winner #1 (BLUE JEST)
5 cents in the dollar for 2nd place getter #6 (MAGIC GLENYCE)
5 cents in the dollar for 3rd place getter #8 (ZIONIC)

Trainer C. Baker was advised by stewards that ARCTIC RED must obtain a veterinary clearance prior to being permitted to race again.
