Race 1:BROWN & HURLEY TOOWOOMBA QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1200m
The start of the event was delayed when MY CHIN underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the start and was subsequently passed fit to race.
The start was further delayed when MY CHIN, which proved difficult to load, got away from its barrier attendant, returning to the mounting yard riderless. MY CHIN was declared a late scratching by order of stewards at 1:33pm. Stewards ordered that all monies in MY CHIN be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
24 cents in the dollar for the win - #2
25 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #2
26 cents in the dollar for 2nd placegetter – #4
Trainer Mr G. Bignell was advised the gelding will be required to obtain a barrier certificate prior to next racing.
The start was further delayed when RIPOVA underwent a gear adjustment at the start.
SULU’S GIRL – Tightened for room shortly after the start.
RIPOVA – Began awkwardly. Improved onto heels approaching the 800m and was forced to restrain. Jockey A. Spinks’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 14 days (to commence midnight 21 August and to conclude midnight 4 September 2021) under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip 7 times prior to the 100m. In considering penalty stewards took into consideration that this was his 15th offence in the past twelve months.
Race 2:TUCKWELL'S LIVESTOCK TRANSPORT & CEMENT CLASS B HANDICAP – 1000m
OXYGEN MAN – Jockey R. Faehr accidentally dropped his whip approaching the 300m.
BRADDOCK DOWN – When questioned regarding the below market expectation performance, Jockey A. Bakos reported that on her opinion the gelding travelled well in the early stages but failed to respond when placed under pressure from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
BETTER BE GREAT – Raced wide without cover throughout.
Race 3:SIMRAE DIESEL & WELDING PTY LTD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1000m
CLASSIC WIND – Stood flat footed and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a lesion in the near side eye. After receiving advice from the on-course veterinarian, Stewards advised trainer M. Johnston that CLASSIC WIND would be barred from racing until such time a veterinary clearance is received by a specialist veterinarian.
BOOM FIRE – Jockey A. Bakos advised that her saddle slipped on jumping and as a result she was unable to rider her mount out to the best of her ability.

Race 4:KOORI MAN RACING OPEN HANDICAP – 1400m
ANOTHER PLAN – Began awkwardly.
THE KROC – Tightened for room by another runner to the outside on jumping.
FORGED IN STEAL – Began awkwardly.
MISHANI BLOSSOM – Reared at the start and lost ground.
Race 5:FRIENDLY GROCER BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1200m
LESLIE JAMES – Raced in restricted room shortly after the start and lost ground. Raced keenly with its head in the air throughout the middle stages.
GUMSHOE – Shifted in shortly after the start tightening another runner to the inside.
