Race 1: WATER & HENRY’S MAIDEN PLATE (1000M)

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards considered a protest from rider of 4th placegetter (BRIENNO BELLE), Apprentice S. McCann (represented by Senior Rider D. Graham) against 2nd placegetter I’M FREE, ridden by Jockey R. Faehr, alleging interference approaching the 100m. After taking submissions from both parties and viewing the films, it was established that approaching the 100m, I’M FREE rolled in for several strides, tightening BRIENNO BELLE onto the running rail and obliging its rider to take hold and ease. Bearing in mind the degree of interference, the margin of (1L), and the manner in which both runners finished off the race, Stewards dismissed the protest and correct weight was declared.
