BOOM THE GREAT- Saddle slipped shortly after the start resulting in the gelding not able to be fully tested by the rider.
IN PEACE- A pre -race veterinary examination was undertaken due to the gelding having its first race start since having a bilateral arthroscopic procedure performed. Stood flat footed at the start and as a result raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Raced wide from the 800m point for the remainder. Ran extremely wide in the home straight and ran on strongly over the final stages. Stewards acting under the provision of AR75 put a Warning on the gelding for standing flat footed and advised Trainer Mr J Hatch. Stewards then inquired into the performance of the horse after running second in the race at its first race start. Mr J Hatch advised that the horse has settled well into the stables and had been working well. He added the stable has a high opinion of the gelding and expected a forward showing at todays meeting and was of the opinion it would improve after that run. Stewards noted Mr Hatch’s comments.
