GENERAL

As M. Powell was injured riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 1: XXXX QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H'CAP – 1200M

BOLD AND GROOVY – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.

WALTHAM – Apprentice R. Johnston-Bell reported that his mount did not handle today's heavy track. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be mildly lame in the off hind leg. Apprentice R. Johnston-Bell was reprimanded for using the whip more than 5 times in a forehand manner prior to the 100m.

FRENCH SONG – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Hung out throughout. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, N. Evans reported that his mount raced very greenly and did not handle today's heavy track. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

KINDA RED – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

Race 2: KEV SCHRECK MEMORIAL CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1200M

DREAM FINNISH – Slow to begin.

SIR STEPHEN – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

CRAFTY'S LAST – Laid in in the early stages. When questioned regarding the performance, M. O'Brien stated that her mount did not handle today's track conditions and in her opinion would derive a fitness benefit from today's event.

JANDY GIRL – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Had to be steadied off heels leaving the 900m.

Race 3: O'SHEA'S WINDSOR HOTEL BM70 H'CAP – 1000M

MR THATCHER – Tightened for room shortly after the start.

GLENTHORN AVENUE – Slow to muster speed.

GOING GOING GONE – Apprentice R. Johnston-Bell reported at scale that he lost the use of his iron coming out of the gates, which placed him at a disadvantage for a short distance after the start. When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer S. Iverson reported that he was expecting a forward showing at the mare's previous start at Kilcoy, however she bucked and took no competitive part in the event. He also noted that she has good wet track form.

SUN WILL SHINE – Tightened for room shortly after the start. Shifted out and away from another runner shortly after the start and made contact with ROCKING EMPIRE. THE BURRAMARTHA and JOHNNYDRAMA, which were racing to that runner's outside, were tightened for room and lost ground. Blundered near the 900m and again near the 500m.

DRAGON STREET – Bumped by another runner near the 150m. When questioned regarding the horse's disappointing performance, apprentice T. Brooker reported that her mount travelled well until the home turn and then failed to respond to her riding and in her opinion races better when able to obtain a leading position.

HIZOU – Bumped at the start.

LIFE'S LIKE THAT – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Bumped with another runner near the 150m.

THE BURRAMARTHA – Bumped at the start.

Race 4: ERGON ENERGY PLOUGH INN CUP MAIDEN WFA – 1400M

CRIMSON GOD – Slow to begin.

BRIGLIADORO – Held up in the early stages of the home straight and shifted wider near the 200m to obtain clear running.

CROWN THE BOSS – Blundered near the 800m and then raced awkwardly for a short distance.

LONHRO'S SPIRIT – Tightened for room at the start. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, A. Best stated that in his opinion the horse did not benefit from the drop back in distance to 1400m. Trainer's representative M. Currie agreed that the performance was disappointing and could offer no explanation, however undertook to advise stewards if anything came to light in coming days which may have had an effect on the performance.

COURT EXPRESS – Trainer G. Betros advised stewards that it would be his intention to have the horse ridden in a more forward position in today's event. The horse raced in a mid to back position. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

LA MASCARA – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.


Race 5: OUR LADY OF THE SOUTHERN CROSS COLLEGE – CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1400M

BIZARRE ROCK – Overraced in the early stages.

MACSPICK – Overraced in the early stages. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

QUINTANA – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, R. Goltz advised that his mount travelled well until approximately the 600m and from that point he felt it did not handle the heavy going and did not respond to his riding.

TWEEDIES – Bumped at the start.

ZETTFIDAA – Slow to begin, then bumped.

SO QUICK – Slow to begin.

PAGOH – As F. Jervis was ill, S. Drake was substituted as the rider of this runner. Jockey Jervis was advised that she will be required to produce a medical clearance before riding again.


Race 6: HAYMANS ELECTRICAL DALBY CUP OPEN H'CAP – 1400M

KING LUDWIG – Laid in in the early stages.

PERFORMIA – R. Goltz reported that his mount did not handle today's heavy track.

BILLY GOAT – Jumped in the air at the start. Hung in from the 800m to the 600m and was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.


Race 7: WESTERN DOWNS REGIONAL COUNCIL BM60 H'CAP – 1788M

WAR FRONT – Tightened for room at the start. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, G. Geran reported that his mount travelled well until approximately the 600m and then did not respond to his riding from that point onwards.

WHO'S THAT CAT – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

HEREAFTER – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
