Race 1: KNOX & POSTLE VETS CLASS 3 PLATE - 1400m
1st – STREET FEVER 2nd – HURRICANE CASSIE 3rd – ROBARD 4th – EDE FUSE

STREET FEVER – Began awkwardly.

ROBARD – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

SUGAR DOLL – Raced very ungenerously in the early and middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have an in injury to her off fore tendon. Trainer W. Baker was advised he would need to produce a veterinary clearance for SUGAR DOLL prior to the mare racing again.


Race 2: AUSTRALIAN LIVE ENTERTAINMENT CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1100m
1st – CHILLDOWN 2nd – LADY WIVENHOE 3rd – TO BE KING 4th – KLEINTON KID

AALIYAH'S DAY – Examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to racing, as the mare had not raced in 17 months, and cleared to start.

LADY WIVENHOE – As Apprentice H. Phillips was unable to claim her full allowance, Apprentice H. English was substituted as the rider of the mare. Apprentice Phillips was subsequently fined $200.

TO BE KING – Began awkwardly, making contact with the barrier stalls. Jockey R. Goltz reported the gelding was reluctant to stretch out in the early stages.

TEEMOLTEN – Raced greenly near the 600m and brushed the running rail. Laid in under pressure in the home straight and was momentarily held up on the heels of another runner near the 50m.


Race 3: DALBY ENGINE REBUILDERS MAIDEN PLATE 3YO & UP – 1000m
1st – COLD AS ICE 2nd – DALIWOY BAY 3rd – TIN'S POCKET 4th – MCDINGA

Trainer S. Smith was fined $100 for failing to produce the ID card for ALLYOSAR.

The start of this race was delayed when ALLYOSAR was difficult to load into the barriers. Trainer S. Smith was notified he will need to obtain a further barrier certificate for ALLYOSAR prior to the mare racing again.

MT STURT – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

DALIWOY BAY – Knuckled at the start, then bumped with another runner. Raced greenly over the final 100m.

I CAN I WILL I AM – Began awkwardly, bumped with another runner and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.

LUCKY MISS – Bumped with another runner at the start. Raced wide throughout.

MCDINGA – Bumped with another runner at the start.

TIN’S POCKET – Near the 100m, had to be steadied from the heels of HIDDEN ANGEL (App. H. English), which laid in under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice English was reminded of her obligations when her horse is shifting ground.


Race 4: THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN HCAP – 1000m
1st – WRITTENINTHERAIN 2nd – FORETOKEN 3rd – MR THATCHER 4th – LE MAX

COUNTERSPY - Examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to racing, as the gelding had not raced in 13 months, and cleared to start.

SMOOTH TALKER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. When questioned regarding the performance, which was below market expectations, Apprentice J. Guthmann-Chester reported the gelding was first up after a four month spell, is better suited to races over a longer distance, and was not suited by the fast tempo of today’s event.

GAELSTORM – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, jockey B. Appo reported the mare did not travel well at any stage, which he attributed to being first up after a three month spell, and the weight of 61.5kg.


Race 5: DIRTY DICE BENCHMARK 55 HCAP – 1788m
1st – RING TRUE 2nd – ALL IN TIME/ZAPATA FALLS (DH) 4th – PALPITATE

FEYTALISTIC – Late scratching at 1.49pm by order of stewards, after trainer G. Stephens reported the mare was injured while loading onto the float.

RING TRUE – Trainer T. Gorring was fined $100 for the late declaration of App. J. Guthmann-Chester as the rider of the gelding.

ALL IN TIME – Overraced in the early stages.

COUNT ROMANO – Overraced in the early stages.

GOGERTY – Hung in rounding the first turn.

RITZY BELLE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

OUR PLAYDOUGH – Jockey B. Appo was fined $300 for using the whip in the forehand manner on nine occasions prior to the 100m, with seven consecutive strikes.
