Race 1: ARROW ENERGY MAIDEN PLATE - 1400m
1st –IRISH DARK 2nd – HEART OF A REBEL 3rd – VEGANER 4th – THE PLAYROOM

CASINO DREAMZ – As E. Cass was not riding at the meeting and no claiming apprentices were available, N. Nishio was substituted as the rider of the filly.

THE PLAYROOM – Shifted out on jumping and bumped another runner.

FUSCUS – Bumped at the start.

JAMOBY GIRL – Shifted out at the start. Apprentice L. Tilley reported the filly was field shy and raced greenly throughout.

SNACK ON THE RUN – Shifted out at the start.

VEGANER – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

HEART OF A REBEL – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. When questioned about the improved performance, trainer P. Sexton advised Stewards that in his opinion the filly was suited by the inside barrier and longer distance of today’s event. Stewards noted the explanation.

MARKOVER – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, apprentice M. Schrapel reported the gelding was having its first start over 1400m and travelled well in the early and middle stages, however failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure from the 400m. Stewards noted the explanation.


Race 2: BMO ACCOUNTING SERVICES BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 1400m
1st – WHYNOTROC 2nd – KAYENTA 3rd – IT’S ALL IRISH 4th – PROJECT COMPASSION

KAYENTA – Dwelt at the start, then began awkwardly with its head in the air. Raced wide from the middle stages. When questioned regarding the improved performance, stable representative E. Dorrington reported that the mare dislikes racing among other runners and was suited by missing the start and racing wide in today’s event. Stewards noted the explanation.

DIVA DREAMER – Slow to begin.

LE MAX – Raced keenly in the early stages.

IT’S ALL IRISH – Shifted out at the start and bumped another runner.

WHYNOTROC – Tightened for room at the start. Apprentice B. Newport was fined $100 for using his whip more than five times prior to the 100m.

CHINSKY – Tightened for room at the start. Apprentice S. Lacy was fined $300 for only claiming 1.5kg of her 2kg allowance.


Race 3: QUEENSLAND POLICE SERVICE BENCHMARK 45 H’CAP – 1200m
1st – DEPUTY PECK 2nd – VAINQUEUR 3rd – CHARZOOKA 4th – CHILLDOWN

CHARZOOKA – Tightened for room shortly after the start.

O’GRADY - Tightened for room shortly after the start. Raced keenly in the early stages.

VAINQUEUR – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.

CHILLDOWN – Raced wide in the early stages.

ASTRO NASCENTE – Raced wide in the middle stages.

COVER UP – Laid out rounding the home turn. Inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight.

PLATINUM GRAY – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

CHANCE TO DREAM – Finished tailed off. Apprentice A. Van Der Sanden could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer P. Sexton undertook to notify Stewards should any abnormalities come to light in the following days that may explain the gelding’s performance.


Race 4: WESTERN DOWNS REGIONAL COUNCIL CLASS B H’CAP – 800m
1st – NORDIC QUEEN 2nd – MUSTOLA GOLD 3rd – I AM RELENTLESS 4th – DR QUINCY

KILKENNY MISS – Slow to begin. Bumped shortly after the start.

EVERINGHAM – Began very awkwardly and lost significant ground.

I AM RELENTLESS – Inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight.


Race 5: PCYC VOLUNTEERS BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 1000m
1st – NOOR DROPPER 2nd – NADOR 3rd – SERAPHIMS 4th – MASSIVE ATTACK

MASSIVE ATTACK – Became unbalanced momentarily rounding the home turn.

NOOR DROPPER – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

SERAPHIMS – Apprentice M. Schrapel reported his saddle slipped on jumping away, placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

NUG’S POCKET – Bumped heavily at the start and lost ground.

CHRISTIES JOY – Bumped heavily at the start. Raced wide. When questioned regarding the performance, apprentice L. Tilley reported the mare did not finish the race off strongly, which he attributed to being caught wide in the early and middle stages.
