Trainer B. Snelling pleaded guilty to a charge under AR47(4), in that he accepted with PERFECT RAINBOW in the BenchMark 60 Handicap 1460m at Esk when that horse was ineligible to race by reason of a steward’s embargo.  Mr Snelling was fined $200.
 
 
Race 1:   Russell, Craig & Friends Stayers Cup BenchMark 65 H'cap – 2000m
 
KID CRUIZE – Began awkward and lost ground. Raced ungenerously and was inclined to hang out leaving the home straight on the first occasion.
 
TUNE OUT – Held up for clear running for a short distance rounding the home turn. When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer K. Jones advised that the gelding benefitted from the increased distance of today’s event.
 
DAZZLING HALO – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, Trainer R. Lipp advised that the gelding did not run out the distance and would take a fitness benefit from today’s event.
 
 
 
 
Race 2:  Graham Winter’s Smash Repairs Maiden Plate – 1000m
 
SAME HERE – Declared a late scratching at 12.31 pm on veterinary advice after becoming fractious in the float when being transported to the course and dislodging a tooth.
 
HIDE THE CANDY – As R. Johnson-Bell was injured he was replaced by apprentice S. Sweeney. Stewards gave permission for S. Sweeney to claim only 1 kilogram of her allowance. Reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Began awkwardly and was reluctant to race in the early and middle stages. Trainer L. Fraser will be advised that the filly would be required to complete a satisfactory trial prior to racing again.
 
TOECANARGIE MAN – When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer R. Coveney advised that the gelding gained experience from its previous 2 runs and he was confident of a forward showing in today’s event.
 
BRAIN ON FIRE – Tightened for room at the start. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.  When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, jockey N. Tomizawa reported that the colt was not suited by the fast early tempo in today’s event.
 
RISK ADVISOR – Tightened for room at the start.
 
RED GERANIUM – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
FUZZY MELON – Had to be checked leaving the 800m after receiving pressure from BRAIN ON FIRE, which was taken in by RED GERANIUM, which in turn was taken in by GLORIOUS TRIUMPH.  Jockey S. Apthorpe, rider of GLORIOUS TRIUMPH, was issued with a reprimand for this incident.
 
 
Race 3: Gloria Hoskin Memorial Class 3 Plate – 1000m
 
SET WAIT – Reluctant to proceed to the barriers and worked keenly in the preliminary. Examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.  Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
 
DANGEROUS DANICA – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
ZA BUBBLES – Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Connections were advised that a veterinary certificate must be provided before the horse races again. 
 
 
Race 4: Western Downs Marine & Marine & Canvas Benchmark 55 H'cap – 1400m
 
CONGELATOR – Bumped at the start.
 
MAJOR SCOOP – Bumped at the start. 
 
CHATARA – Inclined to hang in throughout the event and made contact with the running rail at the 800m. At the 550m made heavy contact with the running rail and shifted out, bumping MICKEY DAZZLER.
 
MICKEY DAZZLER –   At the 550m attempted to improve into a doubtful run and received a bump from a runner to the inside and had to be checked from heels.
 
LE MAX – At the 700m had to be steadied when ROCK SPARK, which was racing to its inside, raced ungenerously and shifted out despite the efforts of its rider.
 
 
Race 5:  GWSR Class 4 H: - 1300m
 
CHOPHOUSE TEARS – Became fractious in the float on the way to the course and was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 12.08 pm. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.
 
INTERLUDE – Slow to begin and was steadied from heels near the 700m.
 
ISN’T SHE ELEGANT – Tightened for room at the start.
 
RICH REWARD – Tightened for room at the start. Clipped heels and blundered near the 1100m when STEWBALL shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey Brad Appo, rider of STEWBALL, was suspended from riding in races for a period of 13 days, commence midnight, 11 March 2017 and to expire at midnight, 24 March 2017.
 
AARHUS – Steadied near the 800m after being crossed by WE’S DONE. Apprentice S. Sweeney, rider of WE’S DONE, was advised to exercise more care.
 
BERNITCHY – Overraced for a short distance near the 700m.
 
SHERINGA – Jockey L. McCoy returned to scale in excess of half a kilogram over her allocated weight and was fined $200.
 
 
Race 6:  Wild River Dalby Newmarket Open H'cap – 1200m
 
TURBO TEDDY – As apprentice R. Johnston-Bell was injured and no apprentices were available, jockey C. Eaton was substituted as the rider of the horse.
 
NO MORE MISTAKES – Bumped at the start.  Began awkwardly.
 
SWEET REPEAT – Bumped at the start.
 
HEROIC ACTION – Tightened for room at the start.
 
LOCK’S LEGEND – Laid in and was steadied from heels near the 1000m. Finished tailed off.  A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg, and will require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
ROXY RHYTHM – Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 700m. Disappointed for clear running approaching the 400m and had to be steadied from heels.
 
MAGAZINE MISS – Raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the performance, jockey N. Tomizawa stated that, in his opinion, the mare was not suited by today’s firm track. Stewards will follow up with trainer M. Nolan regarding the mare’s racing future.
 
 
Race 7:  Paul & David Winter Lightning Open H'cap – 800m
 
CAMPANOLOGY – Slow to begin.
 
ELLI MANTRA – Slow to begin.
 
KING COBIA – Bumped at the start.
 
HEADWATER COUNTRY – Bumped at the start. Raced wide throughout.
 
JAGONAL – Disappointed for a run near the 150m and had to be steadied and shifted wider on the track.
