From Ipswich 13.6.15: Trainer Lloyd Kennewell reported that in his opinion BALIGARI did not run out the 2150m of the Ipswich Cup and would now be sent for a spell.. He also reported that NITE ROCKER was very disappointing in the Eye Liner Stakes and would also now be sent for a spell. Mr Kennewell added that both horses had worked well leading into the above listed races.

Race 1: RACING RETRO BM75 H’CAP – 1650M

KEREDARI – Had to be restrained from heels when overracing approaching the 1200m. Hung in badly under pressure over the final 300m.

HARD TICKER – Held up in the early stages of the home straight and near the 300m when attempting to improve between EYE WINSOME and GOTTA ZIP, made heavy contact with the hind quarters of GOTTA ZIP, resulting in that horse becoming unbalanced and losing ground. Apprentice A. Fancourt was advised to ensure there is sufficient room to improve, particularly in the prevailing conditions.

GOTTA ZIP – Raced three wide in the early stages before being ridden forward. Trainer B. Smith reported that the horse sustained lacerations to both hind legs.

EYE WINSOME – Overraced in the early stages and then was ridden forward to obtain the lead approaching the 800m. Bumped by another runner near the 300m.

STEPS TO STARDOM – T. Bell reported that his mount did not handle the rain-affected track.

Race 2: MOUNT FRANKLIN MAIDEN H’CAP – 2050M

ONEMORE FOR WILSON – Bumped heavily near the 700m.

FIFTEEN LOVE – Held up and unable to improve approaching and rounding the home turn and also over the concluding stages.

THE BOOTMAKERS – Steadied from heels passing the 700m and shifted out and bumped another runner heavily.

PANYA – Overraced in the early stages and when being restrained from heels, shifted wider near the 1000m and raced wide from that point.

SHEZ EKTRAORDINARY – Connections advised that the horse, which raced outside the leader at its last start, would be ridden worse than midfield today, which is the horse’s normal racing pattern. The horse was ridden at the rear of the field.

DUKE OF KINGSFORD – Had to be steadied near the 800m.

SPIRITOF TRAVESTON – Hampered at the start.

ELIZABETH’S DREAM – Lost its off fore plate in running.

Race 5: CHANNEL 7 CLASS 5 H’CAP – 1050M

After viewing the stewards’ patrol footage, apprentice M. McGuren, the rider of 2nd placegetter TRICKY ROCKET, lodged an objection against SHAPIN LADY being declared the winner, alleging interference over the concluding stages. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the videos, stewards found that although there was slight contact between both runners over the concluding stages, they were not of the opinion that it had a bearing on the finishing position of both horses. Therefore the protest dismissed and correct weight was declared on the Judge’s placings.
