Race 1: St Vincent’s Blue Angels NMW H'cap - 1600m

UNION – Connections advised that the gelding would be ridden quietly from the wide barrier. Subsequently settled at the rear of the field.

THE YOWIE – Examined by the veterinary surgeon at the start after being kicked behind the barriers and was cleared to race.

ZUCCHERINA - The start of this event was delayed when ZUCCHERINA required farrier attention. Raced wide throughout.

KAREEM’S EDGE – Jumped away awkwardly. Momentarily held up for clear running near the 300m.

KING LUDWIG – Raced wide in the middle stages.

LAUTERBRUNNEN – Jockey G. Colless reported at scale his mount was inclined to hang out in the middle stages. Held up from the entrance to the straight until inside the 200m.


Race 2: St Vincent’s Palliative Care Service Benchmark 75 H'cap – 1050m

EXECUTED – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages.

GRENACHE – Shifted out on the home turn and made contact with another runner.

DIVINE SERVICE – Bumped on the home turn.

LISA FASHIONISTA – Raced wide throughout without cover. A post race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near foreleg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to its next race start.

I AM BOSS – Raced wide throughout without cover.

VIENNA QUEEN – Apprentice A. Fancourt reported at scale she was disappointed with the mare’s effort when placed under pressure in the straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.


Race 3: St Vincent’s Private Hospital/Mt Olivet F&M Class 6 H'cap - 1200m

FAITH’N’COURAGE – Had to be steadied to avoid heels when racing in restricted room near the 400m.


Race 4: Eileen & Will Duffus Memorial QTIS 3yo H'cap – 1200m

LORD TSCHARKE – Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with another runner.

RELAMPAGO – Bumped shortly after the start by another runner.

TAILLEVENT - Hung out after leaving the 800m and continued to do so for the remainder of the event. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer B. Hill advised he would spell the gelding and undertook to trial the horse prior to its next race start.

VALLEY ROSE – Raced wide without cover.


Race 5: Zouki Open H'cap – 1050m

ARCHITECT – Jumped away awkwardly.

THE STOREMAN – Jumped away awkwardly.

KENCELLA – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.



Race 6: St Vincent’s Care Services Benchmark 75 H'cap - 2020m

CRUZ BY - Had to be steadied away from heels near the 500m. Obliged to be steadied away from heels when tiring over the concluding stages. Raced wide without cover.

JUPITER PALM – When questioned, trainer Mr B. Wakefield stated there were no specific instructions issued to apprentice B. Grylls other than to seek cover and attempt to race midfield from its wide barrier as this was the gelding’s first start over this distance. Rider Miss B. Grylls advised that her mount raced keenly in the early stages and she was unable to place it in a position with cover and elected to race near the tail of the field. She added that when the pace steadied near the 1300m the gelding settled and from that point on she had a trailing position, however she was forced to race wide after leaving the 600m. The explanation was noted.


Race 7: Brisbane Centre For Pain Management Open H'cap – 1350m

BODEGA NEGRA – Jumped away awkwardly.

CHOICE BRO – Obliged to steady from heels leaving the 1200m. Apprentice B. Appo, rider of BUAKAW, was reprimanded and advised to be fully clear when shifting ground in future.

ANNA LIZZIE – Laid in under pressure in the straight.



Race 8: Queensland X-Ray CG&E Class 6 H'cap – 1200m

ALL MY ANGELS – Jumped away awkwardly.

HEADWATER COUNTRY – Slow to begin.

PRIMAL FLIGHT – Shifted out away from heels near the 900m.

FLAMBOYER – Obliged to shift out to avoid heels near the 900m.

HEADWATER COUNTRY – Raced wide without cover.

BELEGIC – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be coughing. Connections advised the horse would be scoped on return to the stable, and would forward the results to stewards.

TRUE ROYAL – Jockey D. Griffin advised on return to scale that something maybe amiss the gelding. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
