From Doomben, 15 August 2015

Trainer D. Meagher reported that Shotover River was scanned with no significant abnormalities detected other than it had jarred up badly and would now be sent for a short freshen up.

Race 1: Delfina’s Bistro 1MW H'cap – 1350m

KUDERO - Connections advised that the gelding will be ridden more forward from the inside barrier. Subsequently settled in a handy position. Shifted out after leaving the 800m. Jockey M. Cahill reported at scale his mount refused to settle in the middle stages.

GALLINARI - Connections advised that Gallinari will be ridden more forward. The horse subsequently settled midfield.

PUNTA NORTE – Jockey J. Lloyd reported the breast plate broke on jumping away. Returned to the enclosure with blood in its mouth.

RILE – Bumped when tightened for room near the 1100m. Jockey J. Byrne, rider of the 5th placegetter, was advised to ride his mounts right out to the finish line.

GRAPPA BRANDY - Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Held up between the 300m and until inside the 200m for clear running.

PERFORMIA – Tightened for room near the 1100m. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight. Apprentice B. Stower reported at scale that her mount was reluctant to stretch out in the early stages, which prevented her from racing in a forward position.

MARKSFIELD – Steadied from heels near the 1100m.

YOUWAITANDSEE – Tightened for room near the 1100m.

NICKED AND COURT – Checked to avoid the heels of a tiring runner approaching the 400m. Jockey B. Pengelly was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in near the 1100m when not fully clear of runners to his inside.

SMART PATROL – A post race veterinary examination revealed a small laceration to the near fore pastern.


Race 2: The Courier Mail Qld Taste Open H'cap – 1650m

JETSET LAD – Reared as the gates were released and lost ground. Obliged to shift out to avoid heels inside the 100m.

BODEGA NEGRA – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Shifted out to avoid heels inside the 100m.

KEEP COOL – Shifted ground under pressure near the 200.

KINGDOMS – Shifted out abruptly near the 200m.
















Race 3: BOQ Kippa Ring 3yo H'cap – 1110m

SAGA OF THE STORM – Jumped away awkwardly.

ZERO TOLERANCE – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, bumping another runner.

PRINCE RAHEEB – Bumped on jumping away.

GO BETTER – Hampered on jumping away and taken outwards, making contact with another runner. Raced wide in the early stages.

FINE FERGUS – Bumped at the start. Rider T. Harrison reported at scale her mount failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.

TIBROGARGAN MISS – Rider A. Fancourt reported her mount hung out throughout the race. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.



Race 4: Austral Bricks 1MW H'cap – 2240m

JUPITER PALM – Connections advised the horse would be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. The horse subsequently led in the early stages.

ANOTHER PRAYER – Slow to begin.

KURRAJONG DRAGON – Slow to begin.

JUDGE RUBY – Steadied from heels approaching the winning post on the first occasion. L. Dittman, rider of HONEY TOAST, advised to exercise more care in future when shifting ground.

BARGE AND CHARGE – Raced in restricted room when pulling hard near the 800m.

TIPS ‘N’ TALES – Had to be checked near the 600m when attempting to improve to the outside of the heels of another runner. Lost its off fore plate in running.

KAISER FRANZ – Held up approaching and rounding the home turn.

MAJESTIC SOUND – Jockey A. Fancourt reported at scale her mount hung out throughout the event.


Race 5: The Courier Mail 1MW H'cap – 1650m

MOON AND THE STARS – Apprentice R. Jamieson reported at scale that she may have sustained an injury to her neck after her mount jumped away awkwardly.

HARD TICKER – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result jockey B. Pengelly became unbalanced.

FIXATION – Jumped away awkwardly. Jockey R. Wiggins was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in when not clear of another runner inside the 400m. Jockey R. Wiggins reported that, in his opinion, the gelding did not handle the track conditions today.

SOLO SAGA – Slow to begin and then shifted out bumping another runner. Steadied to avoid heels inside the 400m.

ROCK THE PAC – Bumped on jumping away.

HARD TICKER – Raced wide throughout.


Race 6: Oatley Fine Wine Merchants NMW H'cap – 1050m

TIME TO EXCEED – Due to having commitments in Toowoomba, B. Pengelly was substituted as the rider of the horse. Raced wide without cover.

SUNSET SHOWDOWN – Had to be steadied when tightened for room near the 450m.

PASSATORIO – Steadied to avoid heels near the 200m.

LAZY DEMOCRACY – Altered course near the 100m to obtain clear running.

SIMPLY SMART – Raced wide without cover.


Race 7: Jim Barry Coverdrive Open H'cap – 1350m

DOUBLE IMPACT – Tightened for room leaving the 1200m. L. Dittman, rider of RUDY, was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in, tightening the gelding’s running. Had to be checked approaching the 800m when tightened for room when the pace steadied.

QUEEN OF THE LOCHS – Had to be steadied from heels after leaving the 800m.

JOPA – Tightened for room leaving the 1200m. Steadied away from heels when the pace steadied leaving the 800m. Jockey G. Colless reported at scale the gelding raced flat today. Trainer R. Heathcote advised that the horse would now be spelled.

DAPH ‘N’ ALF – Overraced in the middle stages.

ALDINI – Raced wide without cover.





Race 8: Country Music Raceday 12th September Class 6 Plate – 1200m

FLAMBOYER – Change of tactics. Connections advised that the horse will be ridden in a midfield position if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Shifted in near the 1100m and made contact with another runner.

LESLIE’S CHOICE – Bumped near the 1100m. Trainer T. Edmonds was fined $100 for failing to produce the ID card for the horse.

MISS STASH – Raced wide without cover.

SKIP TOWN – Raced wide without cover.

VIENNA ROYALE – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
