From Beaudesert Race Meeting 28/8/2015 – Race 8

Trainer T. Crane reported that CASTA LA CAT had significant swelling to its near side eye following the race. Mr Crane was of the opinion that this had contributed to the mare’s disappointing performance.

Race 1: The Bottle-O Open H’Cap - 2200m

CANNY BALLAD – Raced ungenerously in the early stages and was allowed to stride forward near the 1200m to lead.

PANTALETTES – Trainer T. Gollan was fined $100.00 for the late rider notification of App B. Stower.

MORE FOR ME – Stood flatfooted as the start was effected and lost ground. Trainer C. Munce was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s barrier manners. Raced wide without cover after leaving the 800m.

DYSFUNCTION – Checked near 800m and lost ground. At a subsequent inquiry it was established that near the 250m a run presented to DYSFUNCTION between BURLEIGH BULLET and PANTALETTES. Near the 200m this run closed when BURLEIGH BULLET, which was tiring shifted back in. Approaching the 150m DYSFUNCTION clipped the heels of BURLEIGH BULLET, blundered and dislodged T. Bell. At the same stage MAX IT OUT, which was racing tight to the outside of BURLEIGH BULLET was taken in by GALLINARI. Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that this incident occurred due to the carelessness of any one rider however, App Lisnyy was cautioned for allowing his mount to shift in near the 150m and advised he should have made a greater effort to prevent his mounts from shifting ground. A post race veterinary examination revealed DYSFUNCTION had sustained a small laceration to the near fore sesamoid and a small abrasion inside of the off knee. Jockey Bell was examined by the Club’s Doctor and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.
STRADAM – App R. Jamieson pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that she allowed her mount to shift in making the first turn when not fully clear of GALLINARI, which was taken in onto DYSFUNCTION causing it to be checked. App Jamieson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of six (6) meetings to commence midnight 5 September 2015 and expire midnight 16 September 2015. In assessing penalty stewards took into account App Jamieson’s good race riding record and guilty plea.

FILLE ARDENTE – Jockey G. Colless reported at scale that his mount did not finish the race off as expected.

Race 5: Madame Wu Class 6 H'Cap - 1600m

QUICK SNITZEL – Knuckled on jumping.

CAELLUM – Overraced n the early stages. Raced wide without cover throughout.

L’ENTRECOTE - G. Colless reported that his intention was to provide the gelding with cover today and after beginning only fairly he elected to take up a position behind HEART OF A WARRIOR anticipating that horse to lead. When HEART OF A WARRIOR surrendered the lead he was obliged to race further back in the field.

Race 6: Hotel Beach House Open H’Cap - 1110m

ARCHITECT – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

MISHANI DI CAPRIO – When questioned as to the seemingly improved peformance Trainer L. Ross stated that the gelding had performed poorly at its first 2 runs this campaign due to the heavy weights it had been handicapped. Mr Ross added that with the step up in distance today the gelding was able to lead and dictate terms.

Race 8: The Duporth Tavern Colts, Geldings & Entires OMW H'Cap -1200m

Prior to the running of this race due to light rain stewards downgraded the track to a Good 4.

DIVINE SERVICE – Got its leg up in the partition after being loaded, removed from the barrier, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.

AROUSED – Knuckled shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout. App S. Lisnyy reported after the event that the gelding never stretched out in the early stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.

Following the event trainer M. Wilson lodged a complaint against App L. Tarrant the rider of DIVINE SERVICE in that he alleged that App Tarrant had allowed his mount to shift back to the inside in the straight, which resulted in MANA MANU being disappointed for clear running and obliged to alter course. As stewards were not satisfied that P. Hammersley the rider of MANA MANU had obtained a run to the inside of DIVINE SERVICE at the relevant point no action was taken.
