Race 1: Boston Salon CG&E Benchark 75 H'cap – 1050m

JET DOWN ON IT – Became restless in the stalls and reared as the gates opened and lost ground.

COVERT CHARMOUR – Jumped away awkwardly.

PRINCELY – Had to be steadied to avoid heels near the 200m. B. Appo, rider of JET DOWN ON IT, was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

SKIP COURSE – Raced wide without cover.

STATE OF WEALTH – Raced wide without cover. Hung out rounding the home turn.



Race 2: UMS F&M Benchmark 75 H'cap – 1050m

ASSERTORY – Bumped on jumping away and was checked shortly afterwards when tightened for room.

TIME TO EXCEED – Shifted out on jumping away and made contact with another runner and became unbalanced.

MY LITTLE FLICKA – Had to be steadied away from heels approaching the 400m.

LILLY THE FILLY - Had to be steadied away from heels approaching the 400m.

EPSILON – Jockey T. Harrison reported at scale her mount laid in under pressure in the straight.

ADORABUBBLE – Raced wide without cover.

CHARCOAL MELODY – Connections advised on Wednesday, 2 September that they would attempt to have the mare ridden with cover. The horse was subsequently caught wide in the early stages and allowed to stride forward and lead.


Race 3: Madison Cleaning Benchmark 75 H'cap – 2200m

VALERIE D’AMOUR – Apprentice C. Schmidt was stood down by the doctor after riding in Race 1 and was replaced by B. Appo.

KURRAJONG DRAGON - Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Ran wide making the first turn and then raced wide for the remainder of the race.

NEWS EDITOR – Tightened for room and had to be steadied near the 2000m.

SOLO SAGA – Tightened for room and brushed by another runner inside the 2000m. Steadied away from the heels of TIPS ‘N’ TALES approaching the winning post on the first occasion.

TIPS ‘N’ TALES – When shifting away approaching the winning post on the first occasion got its head up and raced ungenerously. Had to be steadied approaching the winning post when tightened for room.

MORE ENERGY – Jockey G. Colless reported that after leaving the 600m he had expected KAISER FRANZ and NEWS EDITOR to take him into the race, however when those 2 horses did not improve quickly he was unable to make ground until the entrance to the straight.

OUTSTRIP – Held up rounding the home turn.

KAISER FRANZ – Jockey D. Browne had his whip knocked from his hand inside the 100m.

MAGNETIC STAR - Lost its near hind plate in running.

Race 4: Pure Jali Open H'cap – 1615m

BODEGA NEGRA – As G. Colless was to be overweight, P. Hammersley was substituted as the rider of the horse.

MY QUILTER – Shortly after the start was hampered when tightened for room. Had to be steadied away from heels near the 1300m. Apprentice M. McGuren, rider of KURTLEY, was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in at this stage when not fully clear.

DOUBLE IMPACT – Bumped by another runner near the 1500m. Apprentice A. Fancourt reported at scale her mount overraced in the early and middle stages.

EPIC – Jockey M. Cahill explained he was taken further back in the field in the middle stages when DOUBLE IMPACT, which he was trailing, lost some ground. He added that once pressured in the home straight the gelding proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.


Race 5: St Margaret’s P&F Association 1MW H'cap – 2200m

MANICERO – As apprentice L. Dittman became ill, jockey P. Hammersley was substituted as the rider of the horse when no apprentice was available.

SIR KNOX – Overraced in the early stages.

FIXATION – Jockey T. Bell reported his mount raced ungenerously in the early stages.

UNBOWED – When questioned regarding the riding tactics adopted today which were in contrast to the gelding’s most recent start when it led, apprentice A. Fancourt stated she had similar instructions today as she had in previous starts, which was to obtain cover, however the circumstances of the race last start resulted in the horse obtaining the lead. Stewards noted her explanation.

MOON AND THE STARS – Tightened for room near the 850m.

LAUTERBRUNNEN – Checked away from heels near the 850m and shifted out. Accidentally struck over the head by a whip inside the 100m.

ROCK THE PAC – Hampered near the 850m.


Race 6: St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School Class 6 H'cap – 1200m

DENARIUS – Held up for clear running approaching the 200m.

DIAMOND FUND – Raced wide throughout without cover.



Race 7: Probrammed Property Services Open H'cap – 1350m

ELUSIVE STORM - Steadied to avoid heels approaching the winning post. G. Colless, rider of TERONADO, was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out approaching the winning post taking runners wider on the track.

KALANDULA – Held up for clear running approaching the 200m.

CUM DIVIDEND – Bled during the race. As this was the second occasion on which it has bled, the gelding will now incur a lifetime bar from racing.


Race 8: Barry Nilsson Lawyers QTIS 3yo H'cap – 1350m

CRAIGLEA WANDOO – Made contact with the rail in the enclosure. The gelding was examined by the veterinary surgeon at the barriers and passed fit to start.

TOO GOOD TO REFUSE – Slow to begin.

MISHANI HONCHO – Slow to begin.

FINE FERGUS – Knuckled shortly after the start. Eased out of the event after passing the 300m. A post race veterinary examination revealed soreness in the lower lumbar. Trainer M. Mair advised he would have the gelding scoped on return to his stables and would report the results to stewards. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.

MR EPIC – Raced wide without cover.

SAGA OF THE STORM – Jockey M. Cahill reported his mount never travelled well throughout the event and proved most disappointing. The stable representative advised that the gelding may not have appreciated the firm track conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
