Race 1: Brisbane Marriott Hotel QTIS 3YO H'Cap - 1640m

DREAM FINNISH – Slow to begin and finished a distant last. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer M. Nolan was advised that prior to DREAM FINNISH racing again he must produce the results of an ECG and the filly must trial satisfactorily.

TOO GOOD TO REFUSE – Near the 200m jockey R. Fradd was accidentally struck over the head by the whip of T. Harrison. Trainer D. Forster reported that the colt had suffered an injury to the near side eye.

Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Soft 6.


Race 2: Novotel Brisbane Airport Class 6 Plate - 1200m

CHARLIE CAT – Reared as the gates opened and lost considerable ground. Trainer B. Guy was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
RED DYNAMITE – Jumped away awkwardly. Shortly after the start was bumped by another runner. Approaching the 1000m had to be checked when tightened for room between runners. App L. Dittman (SIEGFRIED) was severely reprimanded and advised that in similar circumstances he would be expected to straighten his mounts sooner than he had on this occasion. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

TREATMELIKEALADY –. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer R. Heathcote was advised that prior to TREATMELIKEALADY racing again he must produce the results of an ECG and the mare must trial satisfactorily.


Race 3: Become A BRC Member OMW H'Cap - 2040m

The starter reported prior to starting time that it had been discovered the barriers had a broken axle and there would be some delay rectifying before loading. This resulted in another set of barriers being used for the remainder of the day.

CANNY BALLAD – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden more forward today if circumstances permit. The horse settled midfield.

COSMONAUT – Examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to the start and passed fit to race.

ROCK THE PAC – Raced wide in the early stages and was allowed to stride forward to take up the lead near the 1200m.

WALHAAN – Approaching the home turn was momentarily held up behind heels.

ISADJOURNED – Had difficulty securing clear running after leaving the 300m.

BLATANT – Jockey J. Lloyd reported that the gelding raced flat and did not appreciate the quick back up. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.


Race 4: Beach Party Raceday 10th October Open H'Cap - 1640m

BODEGA NEGRA – Trainer B. Hill was fined $200.00 for the late declaration of J. Lloyd as the rider.

MYAMIRA – Bar plates off today racing in normal plates.

LAUTERBRUNNEN – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out making contact with another runner.

BODEGA NEGRA – Jumped away awkwardly.

REVITALISE – Jumped away awkwardly.

TERONADO – Jockey J. Byrne could offer no real excuse for the performance other than the gelding may not have handled the track conditions today. Trainer B. Hill agreed with jockey Byrne’s assessment. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.


Race 5: Canadian Club Melbourne Cup 3rd November BenchMark 95 H’Cap - 1350m

STEEL ZIP – Approaching the first turn when steadying had to be checked away from heels and shifted out forcing another runner wider.

SKIP TOWN – Raced wide without cover from the 800m.

PINCH RIVER – Jockey J. Byrne advised at scale that the gelding had not appreciated the track conditions today.


Race 6: Christmas Parties At The Races Fillies & Mares NMW H’Cap - 1350m

EVERYBODY HAPPY which was kicked by another runner behind the barriers was subsequently withdrawn by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice at 4.35 p.m. All monies invested on EVERYBODY HAPPY were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 4.35 p.m.:-

3 cents in the dollar for the win - #1 (BEATNIKS)
3 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - #1 (BEATNIKS)
3 cents in the dollar for the 2nd place - #4 (DYSFUNCTION)
3 cents in the dollar for the 3rd place - #2 (SISTER EMMA)

BEATNIKS – Jumped away awkwardly, bumped by another runner shortly after the start and then raced in restricted room for a short distance. Approaching the 400m shifted out to avoid heels. App L. Dittman was severely reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift out at this stage when not fully clear of other runners.

DYSFUNCTION – Approaching the home turn had to be checked to avoid the heels of a tiring runner.

SAN SABARTO – Approaching the 400m had to be checked when tightened for room.

SHANTICO – Had to be checked to avoid heels approaching the 400m.

PANTALETTES – Approaching the 400m had to be steadied away from a tiring runner and shifted out.

SISTER EMMA – Approaching the 400m had to alter course to the inside to obtain clear running.

MAX IT OUT – When questioned jockey T. Harrison advised that when pressured in the lead the mare did not finish the race off and did not appreciate the soft track conditions today.

KISSED BY DESTINY – Jockey B. Stewart reported that the mare bucked shortly after the start and whilst he had ridden the mare to go forward and position outside the leader she was under pressure at the 600m and commenced to weaken soon after. Trainer D. Bell advised that the mare would now be sent for a spell. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

QUEEN CAESAR – A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have sustained a minor laceration to the near hind leg.


Race 7: Twilight Raceday 4th December C,G&E NMW H'Cap - 1350m

ROYAL EVENT – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground. Raced fiercely approaching the first turn.

THREE BEERS PLEASE – Slow to begin. Near the 1100m bumped heavily by another runner. Commenced to pull hard after leaving the 1000m.

CASINO BENJO – Shifted in abruptly and made contact with another runner near the 1100m. Raced wide without cover throughout.

ALL MY ANGELS – Commenced to pull hard after leaving the 1000m. Near the 300m had to alter course to avoid the heels of a tiring runner.

NO MAGIC NEEDED – When questioned regarding his tactics adopted on the gelding jockey T. Bell stated he had no specific instructions however when the gelding did not begin well he elected to ease to take up a position near the rear of the field. Jockey Bell added that he was taken wider on the track after leaving the 800m. His explanation was noted. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no significant abnormalities.

DIVINE HARRY – Held up for clear running passing the 600m until approaching the 400m.

DOUGHTY – Held up rounding the home turn.

FORGOTTEN YEARS – Held up rounding the home turn. Shifted out under pressure near the 100m.
