Jockey B. Stewart was fined $300 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

GENERAL

STEEL ZIP – Trainer P. Duff reported that the gelding sustained a minor injury to its off hind leg which necessitated treatment.


Race 1: Angove Family Winemakers QTIS 2yo H'cap – 1050m

INVINCIBOY – Slow to begin.

SYD – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, bumping another runner.

PORT BOWLER – Bumped on jumping away. Shifted in under pressure approaching the 100m and bumped another runner.

HAPPY EVENT – Bumped on jumping away.

ENDLESS DAYS – Overraced in the early stages and had to be checked away from heels approaching the 800m.

HENRY’S AFFAIR – Raced wide without cover.

ITZ ALRITE – Brushed by another runner near the 400m and became unbalanced.

I’M SO EPIC – Bumped near the 150m.


Race 2: John Carroll Electrical F&M NMW H'cap – 1200m

On return to scale a protest was lodged by D. Browne, rider of the 2nd placegetter, MAGIC OF DREAMS, against STAR DROP (J. Orman) being declared the winner alleging interference over the final 50m. After taking evidence from the parties concerned stewards found that near the 50m, MAGIC OF DREAMS shifted in marginally and was accidentally struck over the head by the whip of J. Orman, rider of STAR DROP. Stewards were satisfied that J. Orman’s whip action had not changed and that MAGIC OF DREAMS had shifted in towards STAR DROP, resulting in the contact, and therefore dismissed the objection and correct weight was semaphored on the Judge’s placings.

STAR DROP – Slow to begin.

ITCHINTOWIN – Overraced in the early stages. Bumped by another runner near the 500m. Shifted out wider on the track on the home turn. Again bumped near the 400m. A post race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near foreleg.

SAVANNAH DREAM – Rounding the turn shifted out to improve and brushed another runner.

MAGIC OF DREAMS – Shifted out to improve near the 400m and made contact with another runner.

PANTALETTES – Held up and did not obtain clear running in the straight.

PANDORA CHARM – Raced wide without cover.

WUZETIAN – Jockey T. Harrison was reminded of her obligations to ride her mounts right out to the finish line.

QUEEN CAESAR – Jockey J. Lloyd was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts right out to the finish line.





Race 3: EDB Training Services Open H'cap – 1200m

STEEL ZIP – Trainer P. Duff reported that the gelding sustained a minor injury to its off hind leg which necessitated treatment.

KUDERO – Pulled hard in the early stages.

RIVA DE LAGO – Apprentice M. McGillivray was questioned regarding the tactics adopted in the middle stages. He stated that as the gelding was second up today from a spell he elected to improve after leaving the 800m as he felt this was the best option to give his mount every chance to finish the race off.


Race 4: Harcourts Green Living Open H'cap – 2030m

COLLAR – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Held up approaching the home turn.

PERPLEXITY – Apprentice L. Tarrant reported his saddle shifted back in the middle stages, placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.

MR SCARY - A post race veterinary examination of the horse, which led and weakened, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

FRETON – Lost its off fore plate in running.


Race 5: Bartons Class 6 Plate – 1630m

TOPMAST – Shifted out abruptly after passing the 1200m to avoid heels.

PUNTA NORTE – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.


Race 6: Tacoma Plumbing CG&E NMW H'cap – 1200m

TRALFAZ – Raced wide throughout.


Race 7: Nairn Constructions Class 6 Plate – 1350m

CHARLIE CAT – Slow to begin.

GLORIOUS RED – Slow to begin.

CRACCO – Pulled hard in the early and middle stages. Held up rounding the home turn.

YOU DID WHAT – Raced wide without cover after leaving the 800m.

DESERT GENERAL – Struck the heels of a tiring runner and blundered passing the 300m.

COWORTH PARK – A post race veterinary examination of revealed the gelding had strained its off fore tendon. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.


Race 8: Iona Old boys QTIS 3yo H'cap – 1050m

FAIR RULER – Slow to begin. Had to be steadied from the heels of a tiring runner approaching the 300m and then was held up until passing the 200m.

IN HIS STRIDE – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, bumping another runner.

MADOTTI – Bumped on jumping away. Tightened for room near the finish line when tightened for room between runners. Lost its off fore plate in running. Raced wide.

BIG TREE – Bumped on jumping away.

BANDA SPICE – Shifted ground under pressure over the concluding stages.

QUICK KETCH – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight.

SWEAT REPEAT - Raced wide. Rider B. Stower reported at scale that her mount hung out throughout the event.

IN HIS STRIDE – Raced wide.
