SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

From Doomben 28.11.15 – Race 8: Stewards today concluded an inquiry into apprentice T. Wolfgram’s riding of TAIL AND ALL, in particular the reason for him leaving a favourable trailing position passing the 800m and riding forward aggressively from that point and applying pressure to the leaders SHEISWHATSHEIS and KISS ME DEADLY. At the initial inquiry immediately following the race, apprentice T. Wolfgram explained that TAIL AND ALL was one-paced and he made the decision to shift wider from the 800m and ride forward as he was of the view that the tempo of the race had slowed at that point. Trainer R. Heathcote was also questioned regarding the race and he explained that he gave apprentice Wolfgram no specific instructions other than to obtain cover on the horse and he was not critical of apprentice Wolfgram’s decision to make his run from the 800m. Mr Heathcote indicated that the horse would now be retired from racing. A synopsis of the sectional times of the race indicated that SHEISWHATSHEIS had slowed between the 1000m and the 600m and although stewards were of the opinion that apprentice Wolfgram’s ride lacked judgment, they did not believe that he was culpable under the rules as a result of this error.
