Race 1: MEKKA RACEDAY H’CAP – 2200M

VIVA ESPANA – J. Lloyd reported at scale that his mount was making an unusual respiratory noise during the race. He added that on returning to scale it was noticed that the mare had its tongue over the bit. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be exhibiting a cough.

Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to GOOD 3.

Race 2: COCA COLA BENCHMARK 85 H’CAP – 1615M

BEST CASE – Hung out making the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

HI SON – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden in a handy position if circumstances permit. The horse led.

BODEGA NEGRA – Checked near the 800m.

PUTAPAVONIT – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

OFF THE BENCH – Hung in passing the 800m despite the efforts of its rider, resulting in another runner being checked. Had to be steadied away from heels making the home turn.

Race 3: ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS THE MOVIE QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 1050M

SPOT THE DIFF – Shifted out rounding the home turn and made contact with another runner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to the off foreleg, near hind leg and off hind leg.

ZUMIKON – Raced wide without cover.

MISHANI SLEUTH – Raced wide without cover. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.

DAMN FINE – Bumped rounding the home turn.

RARE OCCURRENCE – Raced wide throughout. Bumped rounding the home turn.

TORRE SARACINO – After being found to have blood in its mouth behind the barriers, the horse underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Blundered on jumping, almost dislodging its rider, shifted in and bumped another runner. Held up in the early stages of the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a cut inside the cheek.

DAPPER ONE – Bumped on jumping and then tightened for room.

O’REILLY CYRUS – Slow to begin. Had to check away from the heels of a tiring runner passing the 400m.

MATCHLESS MISS – Bumped on jumping.

Race 4: SMIRNOFF OPEN H’CAP – 1350M

As R. Wiggins was to be overweight, J. Morris was substituted as the rider of TOTAL AUTHORITY. R. Wiggins was fined $200.

BECKHAM – Raced wide throughout without cover.

ALPHA BEAT – R. Goltz reported to stewards that the horse travelled well throughout, however did not finish the race off as expected.

Race 5: MOET & CHANDON CHAIRMAN’S CLUB 0MW H’CAP – 1350M

As D. Griffin was injured, M. Palmer was substituted as the rider of RIGHT TO ROAM.

FREE BILLY – Shifted out near the 250m and hampered runners to the outside. D. Jones was reprimanded and advised to be fully clear when shifting ground.

SPUR LE JOUER – Held up from the top of the straight until the 100m.

RIGHT TO ROAM – Hampered near the 250m.

DOUGHTY – Raced wide without cover.

DOUSAICHI – Raced wide without cover. J. Morris reported that he felt there was something amiss with the horse as it did not stretch out in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be exhibiting a cough and to be short-striding in front.

MONSTER OF ENERGY – Had to be checked at the 300m to avoid the heels of ACTION BUTTON, which shifted in when not fully clear. J. Lloyd, the rider of ACTION BUTTON, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in at that point, causing the interference to MONSTER OF ENERGY. J. Lloyd’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days, to commence at midnight on Sunday 31 July and expire at midnight on 9 August 2016.

OLD HABITS – Hampered near the 250m.

TULIMAN – On arrival on course was inspected by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to run.

FASTA THAN LIGHT – Had to be checked leaving the 300m and clipped the heels of SHOWER OF HEARTS when that runner was taken in by ARENA SALON. Apprentice J. Oliver, the rider of ARENA SALON, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in at that point when not clear of SHOWER OF HEARTS. J. Oliver’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days, to commence at midnight on Saturday 6 August and expire at midnight on Wednesday 17 August 2016.

PRIMED FOR DESTINY – Raced wide without cover.

Race 6: COUNTRY MUSIC RACEDAY CLASS 3 PLATE – 1200M

SLYDINI – Laid in under pressure in the straight.

LITTLE CAPRI – Raced wide without cover.

FORBIDDEN KISSES – Had difficulty obtaining clear running until near the 200m.

HAD ME AT HELLO – Raced wide without cover.

Race 7: HAMILTON HOTEL QTIS 2YO AND 3YO PLATE – 1200M

LE CHEF – Apprentice S. Eilbeck advised that she had been instructed to ride the gelding in a handy position with cover if possible from the wide barrier. Raced wide without cover in the lead.

MOST IMPORTANT – Had to be steadied to avoid heels near the 900m and again had to be restrained away from heels passing the 800m.

TAILLEVENT – Raced wide without cover.

COLINELLE – Shifted in and away from another runner near the 900m and had to be steadied.

DYLAN’S LUCK – Pulled hard in the early stages.

DEAD SET JET – Hampered near the 900m.

MADOTTI – Hampered near the 900m.

FREQUENDLY – Jumped away awkwardly and then shifted in abruptly.

SHADOW LAWN – Shifted out and hampered other runners when overracing near the 900m.

MAGNUS COR – Checked shortly after the start when tightened for room.


Race 8: BRC MEMBERSHIP QTIS 3YO H’CAP – 1615M

EXCELLENT SPIRIT – Brushed by another runner near the 1550m. Had to be steadied when tightened for room after leaving the 1500m. Had to check to avoid the heels of a tiring runner passing the 200m.

TIME TO TORQUE – Raced wide without cover.

IMA SHOWMAN – Held up in the early stages of the straight and did not obtain clear running until the 150m.

EMVEPEE – Had to be steadied when tightened for room after leaving the 1500m.

KAHNEMAN – Jumped awkwardly. Pulled hard after gaining the lead passing the 1400m and was unable to be restrained until near the 800m.

SANGUINE RED – Jumped awkwardly. Held up for clear running for a short distance approaching the 200m.

SPIRIT OF HUSSON – After being brushed by another runner, shifted in near the 1550m and then brushed EXCELLENT SPIRIT. Had to be steadied when tightened for room after leaving the 1500m.

TORONTO FLYER – Shifted in and away from another runner and tightened runners to the inside at the 1500m.
