RACE 1: RBWH Foundation QTIS 2YO H’Cap - 1350M

PAH TERIE – Slow to begin. When the pace steadied near the 700m had to be checked to avoid heels.

ROTHFORD – Checked to avoid heels near the 700m, shifted out and bumped another runner.

PINCH PASSION – After leaving the 800m steadied away from heels and then shifted outwards. Then unable to return to the position it held when when another runner improved to its inside. Lost an off hind plate in running.

STARENA – Bumped in the hind quarters near the 650m and turned inwards.

ILOVEVEGAS – Raced wide without cover throughout.

RUBY RED HEART – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted jockey L. Dittman stated that the filly began well and he elected to steady as he did not wish to be placed in a speed battle with other runners. However, when UMBERTO crossed him at the 1100m he had intended to sit outside that gelding but was prevented from doing so and was forced to race behind the leaders until the entrance to the straight. Jockey Dittman added that in his opinion RUBY RED HEART is looking for a further distance than today’s 1350m and did not quicken as he had expected. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

LADY LARK – App A. Fancourt reported at scale that when her mount began well she elected to press forward and take a position outside the leader.

Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Good 3 retrospective.


RACE 2: Sofitel Brisbane Central Open H’Cap – 1050m

QUATRONIC – Blundered on jumping. Jockey J. Lloyd reported that following the event he felt there was something amiss with the gelding and eased it over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a slight laceration to the near fore heel consistent with galloping on itself and was striding short in both fore legs. Trainer M. Dunn will be advised that he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to QUATRONIC racing again.

STRATURBO – Approaching the home turn laid in and hampered another runner.

BEST OF THE REST – Hampered approaching the home turn and tightened for room.

VIENNA QUEEN – Raced wide without cover throughout.


RACE 3: Midori Open H’Cap – 2000m

HUDSON COUNTY – Due to transport difficulties was late arriving on course, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Held up rounding the home turn. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had lost an off fore plate and was found to be foot sore in the off fore post race. Trainer R. Hurley will be advised that he must provide a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to the gelding racing again.

The start was delayed when YOHO required farrier attention.

SENTIMENTAL PRINCE – Restless in the barriers and began awkwardly.

SABKHAT – Slow to begin. Commenced to overrace approaching the 1600m and was allowed to stride forward and position outside the leader near the 1200m.

CASHING UP – Pulled hard in the early stages.

EXPLOSIVE ONE – After leaving the 1600m was briefly tightened for room and had to be steadied. Lost an off fore plate in running.




RACE 4: Thyme2 Restaurant At Sofitel Brisbane Central QTIS 3YO H’Cap – 1600m

Trainer M. Eggleston was fined $100.00 for the late declaration of App A. Sewell as the rider of NORDIC SHOW.

DIA DE REYES – Slow to begin.

STOKE IT UP – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out abruptly.

DAMN FINE – Hampered shortly after the start.

NORDIC SHOW – Jumped awkwardly and bumped another runner.

LET ME SAY THIS – Raced wide without cover throughout.


RACE 5: Betfairy Open H’Cap – 1350m

JOPA – Bumped between runners shortly after the start.

WHISKEY ALLROUND – Laid out under pressure in the straight.

CHOICE BRO – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer T. Sears was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced prior to the gelding racing again.


RACE 6: Prive249 Restaurant At Sofitel Brisbane Central Class 3 Plate – 1200m

The start was delayed when PAJADOS reared in the barriers, was inspected by the veterinary surgeon and cleared fit to run.

ARTHUR LE ROI – Slow to begin. After leaving the 200m had to be checked away from heels when laying in.

FRENCH CONCESSION – Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer M. Nolan will be advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced prior to the mare racing again.

PAJADOS – Near the 500m was briefly tightened for room by another runner.

COURTZA KING – Shifted in slightly near the 500m.

CLANG’S VICTORY – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.

EARNHART - A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to the near fore outside heel.
J. Byrne the rider of JUST ORM pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to shift in near the 150m tightening the running of FRENCH CONCESSION, which had to be checked when taken in onto FUTUREAL. J. Byrne’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eleven (11) days to commence midnight 5 March 2017 and expire midnight 16 March 2017.


RACE 7: RBWH Foundation NMW H’Cap – 1200m

Trainer M. Kropp was fined $100.00 for the late declaration of A. Spinks as the rider of ZIP TO THE MOON.

As R. Wiggins was overweight stewards permitted J. Orman to be substituted as the rider of FLO JO SNIP. Jockey Wiggins was subsequently fined $200.00.

TARZAN – Fractious in the enclosure making contact with the rail. Examined by the veterinary surgeon on arrival at the barriers and cleared to start. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages.

RHYME NOR RHYTHM – Shifted out on jumping away. Passing the 900m had to be steadied away from heels. Passing the 600m shifted in and made contact with another runner. Bumped near the 500m.

SORORITY SISTER – Hampered shortly after the start.

TYZONE – Passing the 600m was forced inwards after being contacted by another runner. Near the 500m shifted out to improve and made contact with another runner.

LUCKY SHOW GIRL – Approaching the home turn had to be checked away from heels. Approaching the 100m shifted in and had to be steadied away from heels. App A. Sewell (NO MORE MISTAKES) was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift out approaching the 100m when not fully clear of a runner to his outside.

EXTRASAY – Had to be steadied off heels approaching the finishing line.

App T. Brooker (SORORITY SISTER) was reprimanded for allowing her mount to shift in close to the finishing line when not fully clear of another runner.


RACE 8: Blokes Day Out Benchmark 75 H’Cap – 1350m

Prior to the start the rider of BEAT STREET requested that the gelding be inspected by the Club’s veterinary surgeon as he felt there may be something amiss. After examination the gelding was passed fit to start.

FASTA THAN LIGHT – Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and bumped another runner.

IGNEOUS – Shifted out on jumping and bumped another runner.

CRAIGLEA DEKEN – Bumped on jumping. Bumped near the 1100m by another runner. After leaving the 400m had to be checked away from heels. Approaching the 200m had to be steadied away from heels when disappointed for a run.

TIME TO TORQUE – Slow to begin. Near the 150m had to be checked away from heels. Approaching the 100m shifted out and made heavy contact with BEAT STREET, resulting in that runner having to be checked.

BEAT STREET – After leaving the 1200m had to be steadied when briefly tightened for room by another runner. Jockey R. Wiggins explained that following this incident he elected to check his mount to find cover as it was overracing. Continued to overrace and shifted outwards near the 900m. After leaving the 200m shifted in under pressure and made contact with TIME TO TORQUE, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. The racing manners of BEAT STREET will be brought to the attention of trainer S. Kendrick.

MARKSFIELD – Hampered near the 900m when steadied away from heels.

I AM THE SCULPTOR – Near the 900m had to be steadied away from heels. Shifted in and away from another runner passing the 150m.

ROXY RHYTHM – Had to be steadied away from heels approaching the 800m.

HOTEL DRIVE – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a short striding action in front.
