After viewing the stewards’ patrol footage, R. Fradd, the rider of DON’TBABYLON, placed 2nd by the Judge, lodged an objection against SAILOR GERRI being declared the winner, alleging interference near the 100m. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the videos it was established that near the 100m SAILOR GERRI shifted out under riding and made contact with DON’TBABYLON, resulting in DON’TBABYLON being taken off its line, forced wider, becoming unbalanced and losing ground. Stewards were of the opinion that the amount of ground lost by DON’TBABYLON in the incident exceeded the neck margin separating both runners at the finish and therefore upheld the objection and declared correct weight on the amended placings of 6, 16, 3 and 5.
