GENERAL

As a result of the track downgrade to HEAVY 10, stewards acceded to requests by a number of trainers to scratch, as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 1: EVIAN BENCHMARK 90 H’CAP – 2200M

OUTRAGED – Held up rounding the home turn.

ANTON EN AVANT – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice T. Brooker was questioned regarding her riding of the horse. She stated that the instructions were similar to the previous start when the gelding won at Doomben to have ANTON EN AVANT racing wherever comfortable. She indicated that after travelling a short distance she felt that she would be placed one off the fence, however, MY GIULIANO improved to her inside which forced her to race three wide. She added that she went forward and was of the belief that EMPHASIS might go to the fence but unfortunately that did not happen and she then was in a position three wide without cover. She added that ANTON EN AVANT was under pressure from the 600m.

Race 2: WATPAC QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 1050M

ONLY WANNA SING – Had to steady away from heels near the 700m. Bumped near the 600m. R. Stewart reported at scale that his mount failed to handle the track conditions today.

JUST FAVULOUS – Jumped awkwardly. Shifted out when racing greenly near the 600m and bumped another runner. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the straight.

DANCING DIVA – Restless in the barriers, inspected by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to race. Had to steady off heels near the 800m. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the straight.

Race 3: PULLMAN BRISBANE AIRPORT CLASS 3 PLATE – 1050M

ALATORA – Had to be restrained off heels approaching the 800m. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.

DANSU – Hampered shortly after the start when tightened for room.

REAL CUTE – Slow to begin.

OUR JAMAICA – Trainer M. Lakey advised that the horse would be ridden with cover if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.

WINTER BRIDE – Raced wide without cover.

Race 4: ACCORHOTELS QTIS 3YO FILLIES H’CAP – 1050M

COOROI CHASE – Co-trainer P. Hulbert was fined $200 for the late declaration of T. Brooker as rider. After dislodging the rider en route to the barriers, the filly jumped the false rail near the 1350m chute, was quickly recaptured, inspected by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to race. Co-trainer P. Hulbert was questioned regarding the horse’s improved performance. He stated that at its previous start the filly did not run on after travelling well and he was of the opinion that it may not have appreciated the track conditions on that occasion. He added that the filly is better suited on rain-affected tracks.

SOLO MELODY – Restless in the barriers, reared as the gates opened and lost ground. Bumped on the hind quarters after leaving the 300m.

SWEET ORPHAN – Shifted out abruptly to avoid the heels of a tiring runner near the 300m and made contact with another runner.

Race 5: CATALINA SOUNDS QTIS 3YO C&G H’CAP – 1050M

ST PATRICKS DAY – Held up for some distance approaching the home turn.

REDEX – M. McGillivray reported at scale that his mount never handled the track conditions.

After further rain had fallen, stewards inspected the track following the running of this race and declared the remainder of the meeting postponed at 2:30 pm due to the condition of the track in the straight not being suitable for racing.
