GENERAL
As L. Tarrant had been stood down from riding by the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
Race 1: TAB QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1050M
BETAIMA – Raced three wide without cover.
HAPPY TWO THOUSAND – Bumped heavily on jumping. Eased off the heels of SIRFINA near the 800m. B. Stewart, the rider of SIRFINA, was advised to provide more room when crossing other runners.
LOGAN’S BLADE – Crowded by SIRFINA near the 700m, checked off heels and lost ground. B. Stewart, the rider of SIRFINA, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in at that point he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of LOGAN’S BLADE. B. Stewart’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 9 days, commencing midnight Sunday 4 August and expire midnight Tuesday 13 August 2019.
MAGIC TRICK – Buffeted on jumping between SIRFINA and CLEAR THE BILL.
LESHRAC – As R. Maloney was to be overweight, J. Byrne was substituted as rider. R. Maloney was fined $500. Overraced in the early stages, laid inwards throughout and raced greenly in the straight.
KASITA – Bumped heavily on jumping. Unable to secure clear running from the 400m until the concluding stages.
Race 2: THE QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION BM80 H'CAP – 2000M
BORAZON – Dipped badly near the 300m and was eased down by its rider shortly thereafter. The veterinary surgeon reported that the horse had a bowed near fore tendon and had received veterinary treatment. Trainer C. Waller was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
Race 3: RIVER JUNCTION QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1350M
BIGGIE – Jumped away awkwardly and raced keenly in the early stages. Became unbalanced and had to be steadied off the heels of KIM ALICIA after being bumped by VIOLET near the 600m.
VIOLET – Made contact with BIGGIE near the 600m.
CERINTHE BELLE – As L. Cassidy was to be overweight, R. Stewart was substituted as rider. L. Cassidy was fined $200.
Race 4: TBQA QLD BREEDERS CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1050M
CRUSHER – Laid outwards in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be short-striding in front. Trainer M. Currie was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
POWER COMMAND – As L. Cassidy was to be overweight, M. Du Plessis was substituted as rider. Reared at the start and lost ground. Taken outwards across heels near the 100m to obtain clear running.
DITMAS – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
Race 5: GLOBAL GALLOP CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1600M
AQUA VITE – Apprentice M. Murphy was fined $200 for using the whip on 11 occasions prior to the 100m.
GOLD AMBITION – Slow to begin.
AKAGE – Slow to begin. Pulled hard in the early and middle stages.
BOILING – Pulled hard in the early stages.
Race 6: EUREKA STUD 0 – 70 H'CAP – 1350M
THE ADMINISTRATOR – Laid inwards under pressure in the straight.
SPENDING MY TIME – Bumped on jumping.
MR STORM – Bumped on jumping. Near the 250m was struck on the head by the whip of C. Bayliss, the rider of ERRINGHI SPRING.
PRINCESS CAVALLO – Hung outwards near the 900m.
Race 7: PERFORMER AT AQUIS CLASS 3 PLATE – 1200M
MACEWEN – Bumped on jumping.
INTRINSIC – Raced three wide throughout.
LADY BING – Raced three wide throughout.
WINTER PASSAGE – Raced three wide throughout.
FOXPACK – Raced four wide without cover.
VERANES – Slow to begin. Held up making the turn into the straight.
COUNTESS MIA – Bumped on jumping. Shortly after the start had to be steadied off MISTER SPINKS, which shifted inwards. Raced keenly in the early stages.
Race 8: TIM BELL MEMORIAL H'CAP – 1200M
MONSIEUR GUSTAVE – Raced three wide throughout.
HANDSOME THIEF – Steadied outwards shortly after the start away from the heels of MISERY, which shifted in.
SWORD OF JUSTICE – Commenced to race keenly passing the 800m when being steadied whilst racing tight to the inside of SNOOPY.
IN HIS STRIDE – Slow to begin.
IMPREGNABLE – Proved very difficult to settle approaching the 900m. Steadied near the 400m when racing tight to the inside of MISERY, which rolled in. Collapsed and died on pulling up. Swab samples were taken from the horse and arrangements were made for a post-mortem to be conducted. Rider T. Harrison was subsequently examined by the Club doctor and cleared to fulfil her engagement in Race 9.
DRUMBEAT’S CHOICE – Slow to begin.
Race 9: DIVERSITY DASH BM85 H'CAP – 1350M
EL CAMPEADOR – Slow to begin.
AUERBACH – Steadied near the 500m when momentarily tightened for room to the inside of BEL BURGESS.
SPARKY LAD – Laid inwards over the final 100m.
GRANNY RED SHOES – Raced three wide throughout.
RICH AFFAIR – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
