SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
Sunshine Coast Sunday 4th October 2020
Race 2: DR PATTERSON DERMATOLOGY NOOSA RATINGS BAND 0 - 68 Handicap 1600 metres
SHAKA ROCK (NZ) – Trainer K Fogden advised that on return to stables the gelding was scoped revealing it had grade 3 mucus in its airways and was subsequently treated accordingly.
 
 
Race 1: BRISBANE ROAR - RACE FOR THE CREST QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1600 Metres
 
Delay to the start of the race when PERNELL cast and off-fore plate travelling to the barriers and had to receive attention from the farrier. Under-went a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
MOONAN ME – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
PERNELL – Began slowly and lost ground. Trainer T Edmonds was advised that a warning will be placed on the horses racing manners.
 
SOUL DANCER – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
 
Race 2: TAB CREATE YOUR SPRING CALENDAR QTIS 2-Y-O Fillies Plate 1050 Metres
 
LE RUBIS – Began well from a wide barrier and was allowed to stride forward to take up the position outside the leader near the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination of LE RUBIS revealed the filly to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer C Anderson was notified that he will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance prior to the filly racing or trialing again.  Mr Anderson indicated the filly will now be spelled.
 
MISHANI DELIGHT – Was steadied from heels of LE RUBIS near the 700m which shifted in. Rider M McGillivray (LE RUBIS) was reminded to provide greater clearance when shifting ground. A post-race veterinary examination of MISHANI DELIGHT identified lacerations to the near hind leg indicative of the filly being galloped on in today’s event.
 
SHALUNA – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Near the 1000m improved on to the heels of MISHANI DELIGHT. A post-race veterinary examination of SHALUNA identified lacerations to the off fore leg indicative of the filly being galloped on in today’s event.
 
AIN'T SHE LOVELY – Trainer J ZIELKE was fined a sum of $100 under LR67 for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time.
 
ALERT AND READY – Tightened between runners on jumping and lost ground.
 
ENTANGLEMENT – Bumped on jumping. Improved onto the heels of WHISTLING LOREN near the 600m and shifted out and as a result commenced to lay out until a point entering the home straight.
 
LEAGLESE – Tightened between runners of jumping. Near the 600m improved onto the heels of GOLDEN GROOVE and had to be steadied.  Near the 150m became awkward when tightened for room between AIN’T SHE LOVELY and SHALUNA and had to be steadied.
 
MISHANI TULIP – Slow to begin. Had to be checked passing he 600m to avoid the heels of LEAGLSE which shifted out abruptly.
 
Race 3:  ST JUDE QTIS 2-Y-O Colts & Geldings Plate 1050 Metres
 
BAYERISCHE – Upon arriving to course underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of Trainer S Kendrick and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 12:03pm. Trainer S Kendrick was notified that he will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance prior to BAYERISCHE racing again.
 
MISHANI OPERATOR – After being obliged to race wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward and take up a position outside the leader near the 700m. Weakened in the home straight and subsequently under went a post-race veterinary examination which did not identify any abnormal findings.
 
SHERWOOD PRINCE – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
OUR HOT FRIEND – Fractious in the enclosure and dislodged rider M McGillivray.  Raced wide with cover and raced greenly throughout.
 
PORTOBELLO ROAD - Weakened in the home straight and was subsequently was examined by the veterinary surgeon which identified minor abrasions to its off hind leg.
 
THE MAGIC ONE – Held up for clear running from the 500m until entering the home straight.
 
 
Race 4: SUNSHINE COAST LIGHTNING #TOGETHERWESTRIKE Class 3 Plate 1050 Metres
 
GO DEEP – Over-raced in the early stages
 
PERFECT AIM – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
 
Race 5: XXXX DRY QUEENSLAND CUP 2200 Metres
 
SIR BARNABUS – Over-raced badly in the early and middle stages. Improved onto the heels of STARDOME near the 400m and was steadied.
 
FREE FLY TOO – Had to be restrained from heels approaching the 800m when over-racing and shifted wider and raced wide for the remainder.
 
STARDOME – Over raced in the early stages and was permitted to stride forward from the 1300m to obtain the position outside the leader near the 1000m. Near the 400m raced in restricted room for a short distance between ALWARD and FREE FLY TOO and was eased.
 
Race 6: BRISBANE LIONS #UNCAGED Qtis Three-Year-Old Handicap 1200 Metres
 
The start was delayed when ATOUCHOFSYN made heavy contact with the front of the barriers just prior to the startand underwent a pre-race veterinary examination. Acting on the recommendations of the veterinary surgeon, ATOUCHOFSYN was subsequently declared a late scratching at 3:23pm. All monies invested on ATOUCHOFSYN were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 3:23pm:
 
2 cents in the dollar for the win # 2 BATANGAS ENTRY
1 cent in the dollar for the place of winner #2 BATANGAS ENTRY
2 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #7 DOCTOR JACK
3 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #1 XERRI
 
A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a laceration to its near side nostril which in the opinion of Stewards was attributable to external trauma.
 
XERRI – Raced three wide without cover throughout
 
BATANGAS ENTRY – Over-raced in the early stages
 
CORVO – Trainer T Gollan advised Stewards that the gelding would be ridden further back than today due to the wide barrier. Ridden accordingly.
 
I'MTWENTYFOURSEVEN – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
BETTER LAD – Inconvenienced approaching the 200m when DOCTOR JACK shifted in.
 
DAISY STREET – Hampered shortly after the start. Had to be restrained from the heels of BATANGAS ENTRY when over-racing passing the 800m.
 
DOCTOR JACK – Over-raced badly in the early stages and when it improved up onto the heels of SHE’S A TIGRESS near the 800mit shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider.  Trainer H Norman was advised that the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.
 
GLITTER STRIP - Trainer T Gollan advised that the filly would be ridden further back in the field due to the wide barrier. Ridden accordingly. Unable to secure clear running rounding the home turn and in the straight until passing 200m. Eased to avoid the heels of DOCTOR JACK near the 150m.
 
SHE'S A TIGRESS – Over-raced in the early stages. Approaching the 200m was steadied to avoid the heels of DOCTOR JACK which shifted in when insufficiently clear.
 
JABALIC – Was steadied approaching the 200m when BETTER LAD shifted in momentarily.
 
Rider R Palmer (DOCTOR JACK) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a), the careless riding being that she did permit the gelding to shift in near the 200m when insufficiently clear of SHE’S A TIGRESS which had to be steadied, Miss Palmer continued to shift in when not being clear of GLITTER STRIP which had to be eased from the heels of DOCTOR JACK and shifted in and bumped BETTER LAD. When considering an appropriate penalty the Stewards acknowledged Ricki Palmer’s exemplary riding record, having not been suspended for five years. The low grade of interference sustained was also considered and Miss Palmer was issued with a severe reprimand.
 
 
RACE 7: SOLZHENITSYN BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP 1200 METRES
 
HIGH COST – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
LE PALMIER - Stewards questioned Apprentice G Cartwright regarding her riding of LE PALMIER which lead by a considerable distance in the middle stages. App G Cartwright explained that she was conscious not to overly restrain LE PALMIER as she was aware that the gelding has had some breathing issues during its career and she thought it would be detrimental to the gelding’s competitive chances. Miss Cartwright conceded after viewing the stewards footage that she erred in her decision to allow the horse to stride along in the middle stages too quickly which had a  direct bearing on the gelding weakening over the final stages. The Stewards agreed and advised Miss Cartwright that in the future she would be expected to make a greater effort in the future to slow the tempo of her mounts, however bearing in mind her relative inexperience as an apprentice there was no direct action taken.
 
NAVAL STRIKE – From the wide barrier was restrained at the start to gain a position closer to the rail.
 
AHEADOFHISTIME – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Improved on the heels of HIGH COST near the 600m and had to be steadied.
 
UNGUARDED – Slow to begin.
 
HEARTS LIFTED – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
SPENDING MY TIME – Over-raced and improved on the heels of AHEADOFHISTIME for a short distance leaving the 700m.
 
MASTER BAYLEE - A post-race veterinary examination of MASTER BAYLEE identified the presence of blood in both nostrils, 1st occasion. MASTER BAYLEE shall not without the permission of the Stewards : (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1,000 metres in the presence of a Steward. AR79(4).
 
Race 8: GO THE MAROONS OPEN Handicap 1200 Metres
 
FREDDIE FOX TROT – Held up for clear running from the 450m until passing the 350m.
 
BOOMSARA – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
JADENTOM – Held up for clear running from the 500m until the 300m.
 
FIERY HEIGHTS- Over raced in the early stages.
 
SPECTROSCOPE – Slow to begin.
 
MR MARBELLOUZ – Raced three wide with cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination was conducted after the gelding weakened in the home straight.  This examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near for knee. Trainer K Kemp was notified that he will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance prior to the gelding racing again.
 
GREY MISSILE – Slow to begin and over-raced in the early stages.
 
IN HIS STRIDE – Slow to begin.
 
SPIRIT'S CHOICE – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
 
Race 9: SHOW A HEART Class 6 Handicap 1350 Metres
 
 
TOKORIKI LAD – Attempted to savage ZIEMBA for some distance over the concluding stages. Stable representatives were advised that the gelding would be required to compete satisfactorily in a barrier trial before being permitted to race again.
 
GUNTANTES - From the wide barrier was restrained shortly to a position at the rear of the field.
 
ZIEMBA – Slow to begin and was savaged by another runner over the concluding stages.
 
SHOGUN SUN – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Inconvenienced by FISTICUFFS which shifted out near the 250m. B Thompson (FISTICUFFS) was advised too exercise greater care shifting ground in similar circumstances.
 
BEAUFORT PARK – Laid in under pressure of the concluding stages.
 
FISTICUFFS – Slow to begin.
 
SEENTOOMANY – Had to be checked shortly after the start when tightened for room between MACCHINA VOLANTE which shifted out and FISTICUFFS which was taken in by VOILA.
 
MACCHINA VOLANTE – Near the 1100m over raced whilst being restrained. Bumped with RAQEEQ for some distance approaching and leaving the 600m. Laid in in the early part of the straight.
