GENERAL

16TH JANUARY 2021 – GOLD COAST – MAGIC MILLION 3YO GUINEAS – 1400M

Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the reasons for ISOTOPE’s rider R Maloney being dislodged in the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas. After viewing the available patrol films and interviewing riders R Maloney (ISOTOPE) and G Boss (AWAY GAME), it was established that when rounding the turn, ISOTOPE rolled out slightly and clipped the heels of AWAY GAME, resulting in ISOTOPE blundering and its rider being dislodged. As Stewards could not be satisfied that any party were fully at fault, the incident was reported as a racing incident and no further action was taken.

Race 1: CARNIVAL PLUS MEMBERSHIP QTIS 2YO HCP – 1200M

SUBTERRANEAN – Bumped on jumping.

BALMAURICE – Restrained from the wide barrier to gain a position closer to the rail.

WARRIOR HERO – Rider J Byrne reported that in his opinion the colt may be better suited with the addition of a tongue tie. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

ALERT AND READY – Placed in restricted room for several strides shortly after the start when DU MAURIER shifted out and BULLOO shifted in when taken in by GENERAL WOLFFE.

EVERLAST – Jumped awkwardly shifted out and bumped with SUBTERRANEAN.

DU MAURIER – Had difficulty obtaining clear running from rounding the home turn to the 150m. Trainer reported that DU MAURIER had returned with lacerations to the near hind which was consistent with being galloped on.

GENERAL WOLFFE – Near the 800m commenced to overrace while being restrained off the heels of EVERLAST and shifted out.

TIGER HEART – Jumped awkwardly shifting in and bumped with GENERAL WOLFFE. Steadied near the 800m when momentarily tightened by EVERLAST which shifted in. Rider J Huxtable (EVERLAST) was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

BULLOO – Steadied shortly after the start and shifted in when awkwardly placed on the heels of GENERAL WOLFFE. Race wide in the early and middle stages.

Race 2: CALEB ELDER BM90 HCP – 2200M

HUMBOLT CURRENT (GB) – Unable to improve from the 600m and had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight. Disappointed for a run between SEEINGISBELIEVING and ROMAKASH near the 150m.

ROMAKASH (NZ) – Improved three wide from the 1000m to take up a position outside the lead.

SEAT OF POWER (IRE) – Momentarily inconvenienced near the 1600m when SEEINGISBELIEVING laid in.

SIR BARNABUS – Lost its off fore plate during running. When questioned regarding the poor performance, jockey M Cahill stated that could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed SIR BARNABUS to be displaying respiratory noises. Trainer J Edwards was advised that the results of an endoscopic examination must be produced prior to SIR BARNABUS racing or trialling again.

SEEINGISBELIEVING – Laid in near the 1600m.

ZAMZARA – Jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin.

Race 3: STRADBROKE SEASON ON SALE NOW BM75 HCP – 1630M

SAFIN – Lost its near fore plate in running.

I COULD DO BETTER (IRE) – Slow to begin.

CONTROLTHEWITNESS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

HALLOWED GIRL – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn and to a point near the 150m.

RACING PARADISE (NZ) – Lost its near hind plate in running.

Race 4: THOROUGHBRED RACING HISTORY ASSOCIATION NMW HCP – 1200M

STARVIRGO – Jumped awkwardly shifting in bumping FLYING CRACKERJACK.

WHAT THE FUSS – Raced wide with cover throughout.

HOLY COMMAND – Held up until the 200m.

FLYING CRACKERJAK – Bumped on jumping. Overraced in the middle stages. Raced wide without cover throughout.

TARDIS – Jumped awkwardly shifting out bumping TOUJOURS L’AMOUR. Laid out under pressure in the straight.

ALL TO DO – Knuckled on jumping. Rider R Fradd reported that mount raced keenly throughout.

PURRONI – Slow to begin. Inclined to lay out near the 700m. Near the 600m had to be steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of EXCLUSIVE who was taken in by WHAT THE FUSS who was taken in by TRAMONTO. Held up rounding the home turn until the 250m.

TOUJOURS L'AMOUR – Bumped on jumping. Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages between PHIONAIX and TRAMONTO which both shifted ground.

TRAMONTO – Raced wide throughout.

Race 5: BRISBANE TRUCK SHOW TAILS STAKES - 1630M

PLUMATIC (GB) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being fractious in the barriers and was cleared to start. Slow to begin.

THE CANDY MAN – Tightened on jumping. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

BAREFOOT – Laid in under pressure rounding the home turn.

SUPERGIANT (NZ) – Raced wide in the early stages before obtaining a position outside the leader near the 1100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be coughing. Trainer M Costa indicated it was now his intention to send SUPERGIANT (NZ) for a dynamic scope and would furnish the results to Stewards.

Race 6: EUREKA STUD PRINCESS STAKES – 1630M

TYCOON EVIE – Laid in near the 1300m. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

GOOD SOIZE – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.

BETTER GET SET – Rider B Thompson reported that in his opinion, felt that BETTER GET SET has come to the end of its preparation. Trainer S O’Dea reported that the filly would now be spelled.

EASIFAR – Knuckled on jumping. Momentarily inconvenienced near the 1300m when TYCOON EVIE laid in.

ONLY WORDS (NZ) – After beginning moderately, rider J Byrne elected to restrain his mount to obtain a position closer to the rail. Pulled hard near the 1400m and had to be restrained when awkwardly placed on the heels of KASEAR which laid in, then continued to pull hard and shortly after was forced wide and had to be checked off the heels of DEEP SCEVIA.

KASEAR – Forced wider at the 1200m.

SHE’S AT REGATTA – Wide in the early stages before permitting to stride and take up a position outside the lead. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery.

Race 7: TAB VENUE MODE BM90 HCP - 1100M

ROYAL WITNESS – Jumped awkwardly shifted out and bumped HOLD THE LINE.

EMBRACE ME (NZ) – Bumped on jumping.

HOLD THE LINE – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Near the 50m had to be steadied when bumped heavily by EMBRACE ME which shifted out after being brushed by GEE TEE TEE which shifted out.

MAOZI – Held up in the early part of the straight until the 100m.

SAY HAYA – Jumped awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

GEE TEE TEE – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn until a point near the 100m.

CARDIFF – Raced keenly in the early stages and had to be steadied off the heels of SEA RAIDER near the 800m.

Race 8: TAB MICK DITTMAN PLATE 1100M

SIMPLY FLY – Attempted to buck shortly after the start and shifted out abruptly dislodging jockey S Thornton. Trainer R Lipp was advised that SIMPLY FLY must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again. Jockey S Thornton was transported to hospital for further observations. Jockey S Thornton will require a medical prior to her next racing engagements. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

ZINGALONG – After passing the winning post ZINGALONG attempted to savage LORD OLYMPUS. Trainer T Miller was advised that a warning would be placed on ZINGALONG in relation to this. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the off fore cannon.

ANDERMATT – Hampered on jumping. Held up in the early part of the straight until the 200m.

GAROPPOLO (NZ) – Raced in restricted room from the 200m to the 150m and was unable to be fully tested.

KISUKANO – Trainer M Nolan was advised that a further warning would be placed on the record of the filly in relation to being difficult to load.

MISS CANADA – Race wide with cover throughout.

BLEU ZEBRA – Jumped awkwardly shifting in. Raced wide without cover. Rider G Cartwright could offer no tangible excuse for the performance but added that BLEU ZEBRA did have a tough run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed slight pain palpitation on the back of the rump.

NOBLE WAR – Raced in restricted room and unable to be fully tested over the final 100m.

Race 9: SKY RACING BM85 HCP – 1350M

FLASH AAH – Raced wide throughout.

ACCESSION – Steadied off the heels of PICKA PLUM near the 200m to improve into clear running.

GEM OF SCOTLAND – Due to S Thornton being injured in the previous race, J Bayliss was permitted to substitute her as the rider.

GUNTANTES – Raced wide throughout.

PICKA PLUM (NZ) – Crowded on jumping.

SKINS – Slow to begin.

SHIJIN – As R Maloney was overweight and unable to fulfill his engagement, he was replaced by J Byrne. R Maloney was fined $200 under AR190(3). Raced wide throughout.

PARTNERS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying the thumps.
