Race 1: Millers Swim School Maiden Plate 1050 metres
 
FINNICKY was declared a late scratching at 12:35pm when blood was detected in the near side nostril after striking its head leaving the saddling enclosure. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on FINNICKY refunded in full and the following deductions to apply:
 
1st SELF INDULGENT - 48c win, 29c place
2nd SHE MAKES ME HAPPY - 44c place
3rd NIC ME SOME –  n/a  
 
Trainer S Kendrick was advised FINNICKY would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
NIC ME SOME – Bumped with SEEYALATERGATOR near the 800 metres. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SEEYALATERGATOR – Bumped with NIC ME SOME near the 800 metres. Following the event rider L Tarrant was examined by the club doctor and stood down from his remaining engagements. Changes were made as per the race day summary sheet.
 
SHE MAKES ME HAPPY – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
KUKINTA – Slow to begin. When over-racing near the 600 metres had to be steadied from the heels of NIC ME SOME.
 
 
Race 2: Mt Franklin QTIS Two-Years-Old Fillies Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
LUCKY BEAN – Leaving the 800 metres, when over-racing, improved onto the heels of QUEEN’S PIER. Raced three wide for the remainder of the event.
 
LYNDALL – As M McGillivray was ill Stewards permitted M Cahill to ride the filly.
 
QUEEN'S PIER – When asked to comment on the performance rider R Maloney stated the filly may have got its tongue over the bit. Stable representative Mr C Cavanagh indicated the stable may now apply a tongue tie to QUEEN’S PIER. A post-race veterinary examination revealed superficial wounds to both the off fore canon bone and off fore heel bulb. Lost the off fore plate in running.
 
 
Race 3: Souths Sports Club QTIS Two-Years-Old Colts and Geldings
Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
SO YOU KNEW – After being loaded into the barriers, became fractious, getting its front legs over the front barrier partition, was removed, underwent a veterinary examination and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1:46pm. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on SO YOU KNEW refunded in full and the following deductions to apply:
 
1st BRENTWOOD - 4c win, 5c place
2nd RICHUNCLEMONEYBAGS - 8c place
3rd MISHANI GAMBLER – 10c place  
 
Trainer T Gollan was advised SO YOU KNEW would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start.
 
BEANS MEANS – Slow to begin.
 
CLAUDIUS – Slow to begin and then inconvenienced shortly after when EMERALD GEORGE shifted in. Over-raced throughout the event and proved difficult to ride. Trainer P Duff was advised the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next race start.
 
EMERALD GEORGE – Lost the near fore plate in running.

MISHANI GAMBLER – Rider S Tomlinson was dislodged from the gelding when returning to the saddling enclosure after the saddle shifted.
 
RED WAVE – As L Tarrant was ill Stewards permitted J Byrne to ride the gelding.
 
RICHUNCLEMONEYBAGS – As J Guthmann-Chester failed to arrive on course by the prescribed time, Stewards permitted J Bayliss to ride the gelding. J Guthmann-Chester was subsequently fined $200 pursuant to AR127(1) for failing to fulfill an engagement.
 
SEEFELD – Slow to begin. When asked to comment on the performance rider R Fradd reported the gelding, which was first up today, would benefit from a step up in distance.
 
TUSCANY BOUND – Raced three wide for the majority of the event. Obliged to steady from the heels of RED WAVE near the 250 metres.
 
 
Race 4:BRC Membership Maiden Handicap 1350 metres
 
APPLICATIONS – On arrival at the barriers underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Inconvenienced near the 1200 metres when OCEANIA PRINCESS laid in despite the efforts of its rider. Commenced to over-raced near the 900 metres and a short distance later obliged to steady from the heels of OCEANIA PRINCESS which shifted in when racing ungenerously. Rounding the home turn steadied when placed in restricted racing room when RIGHT REASON shifted out and OCEANIA PRINCESS which was tiring and racing ungenerously, shifted in. N Callow, rider of RIGHT REASON, was advised to exercise greater care.
 
MAGIC CROWN – Began awkwardly.
 
RIGHT REASON – Crowded on jumping and lost ground. Rider reported the gelding did not handle today’s prevailing track conditions.
 
GREEN PROTECTOR – From the wide draw was restrained at the start to a rearward position closer to the rails.
 
THE POWER OF ONE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have bled from one nostril. Trainer P Gardiner was advised THE POWER OF ONE must gallop 1000 metres in the presence of a Steward prior to its next race start pursuant to AR79(8).
 
CHICAMO – On arrival at the barriers the saddle on the filly was readjusted.
 
THINK SHE'S GOOD – Inconvenienced near the 1200 metres when OCEANIA PRINCESS laid in despite the efforts of its rider.
 
KAL EL – Began awkwardly. Near 1000 metres when racing very greenly shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider resulting in SPOTTED WONDER being hampered. Trainer T Costiopolus was advised KAL EL must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next race start.
 
OCEANIA PRINCESS – As M McGillivray was ill Stewards permitted G Goomany to ride the filly. Laid in despite the efforts of its rider leaving the 1200 metres inconveniencing both THINKS SHE’S GOOD and APPLICATIONS.  Shifted in when racing ungenerously near the 800 metres.  When tiring approaching the home turn, raced ungenerously and laid in. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer S Alam was advised OCEANIA PRINCESS must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to its next race start.
 
SPOTTED WONDER – As B El Issa was indisposed Stewards permitted T Marshall to ride the gelding. Carried wider and hampered near the 1000 metres when KAL EL shifted out abruptly.
 
 
Race 5:XXXX Dry BM72 Handicap 1110 metres
 
BARNEY'S LAW – Bumped on jumping and lost ground.
 
HARD YAGA – When asked to comment on tactics adopted rider G Goomany advised instructions were to race in a forward position stating that after being caught wide in the early stages and obtaining the position outside the leader HARD YAGA  proved difficult to settle. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
ACROBATIC – Jumped out at the start. Raced in restricted room to the inside of PHANTOM COURT for a short distance near the 600 metres.
 
 
 
Race 6:Sky Racing Class 2 Plate 1200 metres
 
MISHANI DESTROYER – Raced three wide without cover for majority of the event.
 
WAY BEYOND – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
QUATUM – Raced three wide with cover for majority of the event.
 
CUPID'S BOW – As L Tarrant was ill Stewards permitted J Byrne to ride the mare.
 
KIANDRA GOLD – Slow to begin. Rider Fradd reported the gelding did not appreciate todays track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SOUND OF SLEAT- Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
ZEFTABROOK – Raced three wide with cover for majority of the event.
 
 
 
Race 7: TAB Venue Mode BM75 Handicap 1350 metres
 
DESTINY'S OWN – Crowded on jumping and lost ground.
 
MOUNTBATTEN – Bumped on jumping. Near the 800 metres steadied from the heels of SEE IT THRU which shifted in.
 
SUILVEN – Laid in rounding the home turn.
 
BRABHAM – Began awkwardly. Rider R Maloney reported he became concerned with the geldings breathing near the 200 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed abnormal breathing. Co-Trainer T Sears was advised BRABHAM must obtain a veterinary clearance including results of a satisfactory endoscopic examination prior to its next race start.
 
CABOCHON LIL – From the wide draw was restrained at the start to a rearward position closer to the rails. Lost off side winker during the event.
 
NICCONITA – Near the 800 metres steadied from the heels of MOUNTBATTEN which was taken in by SEE IT THRU.
 
COASTAL PRINCE – Jumped out at the start.
 
 
Race 8: Mekka Wednesday Races 11 Aug Class 2 Handicap 1640 metres
 
BLAZING SUNRISE – Held up for clear running between the 500 metres and the 350 metres.
 
TIDES OF JUPITER – Declared a late scratching at 2:28pm due to a float breakdown.
 
SHE'S AN EAGLE – Rider J Bayliss reported the filly pulled hard in the early and middle stages and refused to settle. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post race recovery.
 
WONDERFUL DAY – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
BIRKIN BLACK – As L Tarrant was ill Stewards permitted M Hellyer to ride the gelding.
