Race 1: TAB Venue Mode QTIS Two-Years-Old Handicap 1615 metres
 
ARCHDEACON – As R Maloney was to be overweight, Stewards permitted R Fradd to ride the gelding. R Maloney was fined $200 under AR190(3). Bumped on jumping.

BAYERISCHE – Jumped in at the start and bumped ARCHDEACON.
 
HATS – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
MISHANI DIVA – Slow to begin.
 
SHALUNA – Over-raced in the early stages. Rider J Byrne reported the tongue tie on the filly became displaced which in his opinion resulted in today’s disappointing performance.
 
 
Race 2: Gallopers Sports Club OPEN Handicap 2020 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 15 minutes to allow QAS staff to attend to an on-course patron.
 
HE RUNS AWAY (ARG) – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
SEENTOOMANY – Slow to begin. Rider A Mallyon reported the mare travelled well throughout the race and when placed under pressure finished the race off only fairly.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SMART METEOR – Held up for clear running approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 3: BRC Membership QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap 1615 metres
 
ROGUE ROCKER – Jumped out at the start and bumped WITHOUT THINKING.
 
DZSENIFER – Due to covid restrictions J Orman was unable to make the weight on the filly and was replaced by T Marshall. Jumped in at the start bumping THE ACTUARY.
 
TAMILAIDE – B Stewart, rider of TAMILAIDE, was fined $500 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.
 
WITHOUT THINKING – Bumped on jumping. Had some difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
THE ACTUARY – Bumped on jumping.
 
 
Race 4: Mt Franklin QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap 1050 metres
 
MISHANI MISS – When asked to comment on tactics adopted particularly passing the 800 metres rider J Orman was of the view the tempo of the race was not overly quick and that had the rider of MIAMI FLEISS pressured her mount further he would have  allowed her to cross MISHANI MISS at that point. However given the even tempo he was reluctant to overly restrain MISHANI MISS and he therefore held the position outside the leader. Stewards accepted the explanation of J Orman.  
 
DUSTY TYCOON – Began awkwardly. Laid out after making the 800 metre turn awkwardly.
 
MIAMI FLEISS – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Rider G Cartwright reported from the outside barrier she was obliged to race three wide after being unable to cross runners to her inside. 
 
ADONISEA – Rider J Byrne reported the gelding was inclined to race greenly for the majority of the event and in his opinion would benefit from a step up in distance.
 
 
Race 5: Racecourse Village BM72 Handicap 2020 metres
 
DASHING SPECIAL – Slow to begin.
 
ONE FOR BETTY – Raced three wide for the majority of the event.
 
HONORABLE SPIRIT – Raced three wide in the early and middle stages before progressing forward to lead the event from the 1100 metres.
 
TOP ORDER – Slow to begin.
 
PRINCESS CAVALLO – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
THE CATCH – Rider A Allen stated the gelding travelled comfortably in the run however when place under pressure did not responded as expected adding that THE CATCH would derive benefit from today’s run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery.
 
SNOW VALLEY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the off fore fetlock.
 
 
Race 6: XXXX BM72 Handicap 1200 metres
 
FUJI FLYER – Near the 900 metres was obliged to steady from the heels of EXPLOSIVE QUALITY which was taken in by LUSKIN HERO. B Stewart, rider of LUSKIN HERO, was advised to show greater care.
 
JETSKI – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
SNOW VALLEY – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
ACROBATIC – When over-racing near the 700 metres had to eased from the heels of GOOD CHAT which shifted in. M Du Plessis, rider of GOOD CHAT, was asked to show greater care in similar circumstances.
 
EXPLOSIVE QUALITY – Near the 850 metres had to be steadied from the heels of LUSKIN HERO.
 
FEW TOO MANY – Checked shortly after the start. B Stewart, rider of LUSKIN HERO, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that shortly after the start he permitted his mount to shift in under riding resulting in FEW TOO MANY being crowded for room and having to check and lose its rightful running. The licence of B Stewart to ride in races was suspended for a period of 13 days to commence midnight 6th August up to and including 19th August 2021.
 
DRAGON MISS – After being loaded into the barriers became fractious, was removed, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Raced four wide for the majority of the event.
 
SO CLEVER – A short distance after the start became awkwardly placed to the inside of FEW TOO MANY after that runner was checked and taken in by LUSKIN HERO. When over-racing rounding the 800 metre turn laid out and then raced three wide for the remainder of the event.

Race 7: Sky Racing BM85 Handicap 1615 metres
 
PRIORITISE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout the event. Hampered near the 900 metres. Taken wider from the 500 metres when PLITVICE shifted out.
 
PLITVICE – Shifted out near the 500 metres taking PRIORITISE wider. Near the 250 metres became awkward when tightened between PRIORITISE and I COULD DO BETTER, both of which shifted ground.
 
WILLO TITTO – Rider J Orman was fined $300 under AR211 for returning to scale in excess of a half kilogram overweight.
 
PROSPECTUS – Over-raced in the early stages of the event. Shifted out near the 900 metres and hampered PRIORITISE.
 
I COULD DO BETTER (IRE) – From the wide barrier restrained at the start to a rearward position to the rails. Held up and unable to secure clear running in the home straight until the final stages of the event.
 
BOOMTOWN RAT – Over-raced in the early stages of the event.
 
 
Race 8: TAB QTIS Fillies and Mares Class 6 Handicap 1350 metres
 
HARD LABOUR – Began awkwardly and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off hind leg. Co-trainer T Edmonds was advised the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
CENTENARY STAR – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
BUCKLE UP BABY – Trainer L Abbott was fined $200 under LR67 for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time.
 
SAAS FEE – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages and near the 900 metres became awkwardly placed at the heels of CENTENARY STAR. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 9: Mekka Wednesday Races Aug QTIS Colts, Geldings and Entires Class 6 1350 metres
 
ROMAN AUREUS – Raced wide without cover throughout the event. Taken wider on the track from the 600 metres when LOVE EXPRESS shifted out. Apprentice K Wilson-Taylor, rider of ROMAN AUREUS, had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period of 14 days under AR132(7)(a)(ii) to commence midnight 3rd August up to and including midnight 17th August 2021 for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted.
 
POTRO DURO – Slow to begin.
 
ZIEMBA – Held for clear running in the home straight until a point near the 100 metres.
 
NORDICUS – Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
THE FIRE TRAP – Slow to begin.
 
BENTLEY MAGIC – Over-raced in the early stages. Near the 1000 metres improved onto the heels of ULYSSES and shifted out.
 
LOVE EXPRESS – Shifted wider on the track from the 600 metres.
 
BRILLIANT CONCEPT – Stewards permitted apprentice A Thompson to ride the gelding claiming only 1kg of his 2kg allowance when no other apprentice was available. After taking into account current covid restrictions Stewards took no further action.
