GENERAL
Due to current COVID restrictions, Stewards permitted the following weight variations:
Race 9. MORETHANNUMBERONE – A. Mallyon + 1kg
 
 
Race 1: SKY RACING QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1110 metres
 
HEROIC SON – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.  
 
BATTLEDANCE – Overraced early. Lost the near hind plate in running.
 
FLORAL OASIS – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly after the start. Raced three wide without cover throughout.  Carried wider in the early part of the home straight.
 
MISHANI MENTAL – Over the final stages shifted in and bumped SAWEETIE. Held up in the early part of the home straight.
 
KALEA – Hampered at the start.
 
SAWEETIE – Jumped away awkwardly, and then shifted out and bumped KALEA. Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
 
Race 2: BRC MEMBERSHIP BENCHMARK 80 Handicap 2000 metres
 
Following race 1, Stewards upgraded the track to a Soft 6.
 
HOSTAGE OF WAR – Rider Billie-Rose Andrew reported on returning to scale that her mount raced flat today and may have come to the end of its current preparation.
 
SOUTHERN ROCK (IRE) – Raced three wide in the early stages.
 
RAPAPORT (NZ) – When asked to explain the disappoint performance Jockey M. Cahill reported that he was instructed to lead on the horse, and rather than overly restrain the horse he allowed it to stride in the early and middle stages and was able to slow the tempo near the 900m. He added that the horse was under pressure from the 500m and disappointed in its effort. The gelding underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no significant findings.
 
TIDES OF JUPITER – Slow to begin. When asked to explain, apprentice J. Lloyd reported that soon after the start his saddle slipped to the near side of the horse. This placed him at a disadvantage particularly over the final 800m and in the home straight, as he was attempting to correct the saddle to ride out TIDES OF JUPITER. Stewards cautioned apprentice J.Lloyd and reminded him at all times to report any occurrence that may have had an effect on the horses’ performance in the race. TIDES OF JUPITER underwent a post race veterinary examination, which revealed the gelding to be slight sore over the rump and with an uneven gait behind. Trainer J. Bellamy was advised the he must provide a veterinary certificate prior to TIDES OF JUPITER racing again.
 
YOUNGBLOOD – Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
Race 3: XXXX DRY Class 6 Handicap 1600 metres
 
KUBRICK – Restrained early.
 
RULE THE WORLD – Over the final stages, shifted out abruptly before being straightened by its rider.
 
SO TAKEN – Was issued a reprimand under AR131(a) for shifting out on SO TAKEN when passing the 300m when not fully clear of REBEL SALUTE, which had to be steadied by its rider.
 
INDERNILE – Restrained early. Held up in the early stages of the home straight and had to alter course near the 200m to the outside of SO TAKEN in order to improve.
 
ZEPPELIN – Underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to be slightly lame in the off fore. Trainer C. Attard was advised that ZEPPELIN will require a veterinary certificate prior to racing again.
 
 
Race 4: MOUNT FRANKLIN BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1600 metres
 
MR WONG - Slow to begin.
 
POPULIST – Slow to begin.
 
DIVINE ELEVEN – Near the 1000m hampered when BLAZE SEVEN shifted in.
 
THE DARK (NZ) – Slow to begin. Rider M. Du Plessis reported that his mount races best when on bigger tracks and in the early stages couldn’t muster speed and drifted back and failed to respond to his riding from the 600m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
WHEELS (NZ) – Underwent a veterinary examination at the request of trainer D. Vandyke after arriving on course and was passed fit to start. Slow to begin. Pulled hard in the early stages. After passing the 300m shifted out under pressure resulting in BLAZE SEVEN being forced wider.
 
BLAZE SEVEN (NZ) – Raced three wide without cover. Pulled hard in the middle stages and shifted in at the 1000m. After passing the 800m, BLAZE SEVEN attempted to shift in from three wide and in doing so hampered the running of MR WONG and SCOTTISH MIST.
 
 
Race 5: COUNTRY FINALS RACEDAY 4 DECEMBER QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metres
 
Following race 4, Stewards upgraded the track to a Soft 5.
 
ZAVABOOM – Slow to begin.
 
ARENTEE – Near the 800m had to be eased to avoid heels of WARDADDY.
 
PRIME ASSET – Near the 800m when being restrained, PRIME ASSET commenced to race fiercely and shifted out, becoming awkward at the heels of PUTONTHEREDLIGHT, which also shifted in.
 
 
Race 6: CASCADE BENCHMARK 80 Handicap 1050 metres
 
BLACK MAGNUM – Jumped awkwardly and lost considerable ground as the start was effected.  
 
ONE STRYKE – Jockey A. Mallyon was reminded to ride his mounts’ out to the end of the race.

PALAISIPAN – Slightly awkward to begin and shifted in and bumped ONE STRYKE. When under pressure in the early stages of the home straight, PALAISIPAN was inclined to lay in.
 
 
Race 7: TAB VENUE MODE BENCHMARK 72 Handicap 1200 metres
 
KEEP ON LOVING YOU – Late scratching on veterinary advice @11.10am. Train P. Nolan Jnr was advised that the gelding will require a veterinary certificate prior to racing again.
 
THE BIG GOODBYE – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running from the 200m and had to alter course when PULL ANCHOR shifted out to improve.  
 
KINGSCOTE – Weakened badly in the home straight. Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to be stepping short in front. Trainer S. Morrissey advised Stewards that the horse would now go for a spell.
 
RENOUF – Raced wide. Was inclined to hang out from the 600m. Shifted in abruptly near the 500m, and had to be corrected by its rider.
 
SALATEEN – Raced wide with no cover.
 
TICKLER – Stood flat footed at the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer R. Tyrell was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
WINTER RAIN – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 8: TAB KEITH NOUD 1200 metres
 
BALLER – Stewards were advised that subsequent to its most recent start, the gelding has undergone corrective respiratory surgery. Held up on rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.
 
CHAPTER AND VERSE – Tightened for room at the start. Had difficulty in obtaining a clear run from the 250m and was disappointed for a run between INTREPIDACIOUS and NICCANOVA near the 100m, and was struck over the head near the 100m by the whip of jockey J. Orman.
 
STAMPE – Jumped awkwardly.
 
SIMPLY FLY – Tightened for room at the start. From the 900m, SIMPLY FLY overraced. Near the 450m shifted out and bumped heavily with RATHER SALUBRIOUS.
 
RATHER SALUBRIOUS (NZ) – Raced three wide.
 
 
Race 9: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB BENCHMARK 85 Handicap 1350 metres
 
SPECTROSCOPE (USA) – Slow to begin.
 
BARNEY’S LAW – Passing the 300m shifted out to improve, resulting in MORETHANNUMBERONE being forced wider.
 
MORETHANNUMBERONE – Slow to begin.
