Stewards questioned both jockey J Byrne and trainer S Morrisey regarding tactics adopted and the riding instructions issued. Jockey Byrne stated that the instructions were to settle off the speed and after a poor beginning and being caught wide he then elected to allow his mount to stride forward due to the slow tempo of the race and attain the lead near the 800m. Trainer S Morrisey confirmed the instructions and was surprised when IRON GRACE led and on review could understand the reasons why jockey Byrne elected to lead when considering the lack of early speed. Stewards when considering the evidence noted the circumstances and explanation provided.
