Race 1: TAB NO METRO WINS H’CAP – 1000M
 
The veterinary surgeon reported that the wet bulb thermometer reading at the start of this race (12:45 pm) was 26.7°C.
 
DESERT DIGBY – Raced three wide without cover.
 
DREAM MASTER – The veterinary surgeon reported that the gelding was exhibiting signs of heat stress post-race.
 
ALOT LIKE HOME – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide with cover.
 
ALASKAN SUN – Slow to begin.
 
MUSICAL GENIUS – As B. Stewart was to be overweight, C. Newitt was substituted as rider. B. Stewart was fined $200.
 
TRUCULENT – Raced four wide throughout.
 
VIENNA POWER – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Raced three wide with cover.
 
Race 2: TAB ‘ORIGIN’ JOCKEY SERIES BENCHMARK 70 H’CAP – 1600M
 
DELADIES BOY – Forced wide rounding the home turn.
 
FABULONH – Raced keenly when being restrained to obtain cover passing the 1400m.
 
NAKED – Improved on to heels approaching the 700m and had to be steadied.
 
CABIN FEVER – Shifted three wide to improve approaching the 700m.
 
LAST LIGHT – Slow to begin. Had to be steadied away from the heels of ZIEMBA when the pace slackened passing the 800m.
 
SENRIMA TIDE – After passing the 1400m, when positioned outside the leader, commenced to overrace and threw its head in the air when being restrained.
 
GREAT POWERS – After being caught three wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward to obtain the lead approaching the 1100m.
 
ZIEMBA – Slow to begin.
 
DARK IMAGE – Became fractious in the parade ring entering the track, underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was cleared to start.
 
TYRES ARE CRUCIAL – Stewards acceded to a request by C. Newitt to ride the gelding half a kilogram over its allotted weight. Restrained at the start from the wide barrier to obtain a position closer to the rail. Had to be steadied away from the heels of NAKED approaching the 500m.
 
Race 3: MIRUNNERS CLASS 6 H’CAP – 1600M
 
The veterinary surgeon reported that the wet bulb thermometer reading at the start of this race (1:53 pm) was 26.3°C.
 
BRYNEICH was a late scratching at 7:50 am. Trainer C. Anderson was fined $200. In determining penalty stewards took into account that there were mitigating circumstances.
 
GET STUCK IN – Raced keenly in the early stages and was shifted three wide passing the 1000m and raced without cover from that point onwards.
 
BRAINS – Crowded for room passing the 1000m by HANG, which laid in slightly.
 
TYCOON STREET – Began awkwardly.
 
DREAMREACHER – Began awkwardly. Had to be restrained from the heels of TREVELYAN passing the 200m and then had to alter course to the inside of that runner in order to improve.
 
RIVER FLYER – When asked to explain the riding tactics adopted, apprentice A. Thompson explained that his mount put in a number of awkward strides soon after the start and for this reason he rode aggressively and when it was apparent by the 1000m that he was a considerable distance in front of the main body of the field he attempted to restrain the mare but it did not respond to this and as a result overraced from that point until soon after straightening, from which point it weakened and got beaten a considerable distance. He was of the view that the mare may be looking for a spell. Trainer L. Ross advised stewards that it would now be his intention to send the mare for a spell.
 
Following the running of this race the track was upgraded to GOOD 3.
 
Race 4: TAB ‘ORIGIN’ JOCKEY SERIES CLASS 3 PLATE – 1400M
 
The veterinary surgeon reported that the wet bulb thermometer reading at the start of this race (2:32 pm) was 26.4°C.
 
MASLOW – Began awkwardly and shifted out, bumping AXELLA. Bumped on the hind quarters shortly after the start by DYNAMIC VERSE and became unbalanced.
 
RED PHANTOM – Began awkwardly.
 
DYNAMIC VERSE – Began awkwardly. Crowded for room shortly after the start, bumped the hind quarters of MASLOW and lost ground. Improved onto heels when racing in a rearward position passing the 1000m and had to be restrained. Failed to respond when placed under pressure after passing the 400m. Rider K. O’Hara reported that she desisted from pressuring her mount over the final 150m as she had concerns that something may be amiss with the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
AXELLA – Bumped on jumping.
 
Race 5: HAMILTON HOTEL OPEN QUALITY H’CAP – 1800M
 
The veterinary surgeon reported that the wet bulb thermometer reading at the start of this race (3:12 pm) was 26.8°C.
 
THE CANDY MAN – Slow into stride. Commenced to overrace and threw its head in the air when being restrained passing the 1600m. B. Stewart was fined $500 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
WINNING WAYS – Hampered between runners shortly after the start. When caught three wide without cover in a midfield position after passing the 1400m, the rider elected to restrain towards the rear of the field to obtain a position one wide with cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
TAMARACK – Began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
ZOURKHAN – Improved onto heels approaching the 100m and was unable to be fully tested over the final stages.
 
DAWSON DIVA – Held up momentarily between the 500m and the 400m.
 
SIR BARNABUS – Hampered between runners shortly after the start. Had to be steadied passing the 250m and was bumped by BLUE COMET when awkwardly placed at the heels of TAMARACK, which shifted out.
 
SKYTREK – Improved on to heels over the final 100m and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
BLUE COMET – Crowded for room passing the 250m initially by THE CANDY MAN, which shifted in, and then became awkwardly placed at the heels of TAMARACK, which shifted out. B. Stewart, the rider of THE CANDY MAN, was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground. B. Thornton, the rider of TAMARACK, was reprimanded.
 
Race 6: PAGES GOLD EDITION PLATE – 1200M
 
The veterinary surgeon reported that the wet bulb thermometer reading at the start of this race (3:52 pm) was 25.9°C.
 
ALLIGATOR BLOOD – Began awkwardly.
 
THE ODYSSEY – Commenced to lay out when placed under pressure passing the 300m, placing the rider at some disadvantage over the final stages. The veterinary surgeon reported that the colt was exhibiting signs of mild heat stress post-race.
 
LE PALMIER – Began awkwardly.
 
LUBUK – Slow into stride.
 
BATTLE STRIKE – Improved onto heels when racing in a rearward position passing the 800m and had to be restrained.
 
SHOOTING LOVE – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 7: ROKU GIN THE GATEWAY – 1400M
 
The veterinary surgeon reported that the wet bulb thermometer reading at the start of this race (4:32 pm) was 25.3°C.
 
BOOMSARA – Trainer C. Munce was fined $200 for the late declaration of B. Stewart as rider. Laid out under pressure over the final 200m. Lost the off fore plate in running.
 
SOXAGON – Slow to begin.
 
OUTBACK BARBIE – Began awkwardly and then shortly after the start laid in. Crowded for room approaching the 100m between ENTERPRISE PRINCE, which laid in slightly, and VALARIO, which shifted out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have slow post-race recovery.
 
PLUMARO – Hampered shortly after the start by ENTERPRISE PRINCE, which was inconvenienced by OUTBACK BARBIE.
 
Race 8: TAB LOUGH NEAGH STAKES – 1300M
 
The veterinary surgeon reported that the wet bulb thermometer reading at the start of this race (5:08 pm) was 25.4°C.
 
MONSIEUR GUSTAVE – Crowded for room approaching the 150m between REMOVAL, which shifted in away from CHAPTER AND VERSE, which laid in, and TYZONE, which shifted out to improve.
 
CHAPTER AND VERSE – Had to be restrained from the heels of REMOVAL near the 950m.
 
MISS FABULASS – Stood flat-footed and missed the start by several lengths.
 
RECKLESS CHOICE – Bumped on jumping and lost ground.
 
SHARPE HUSSLER – Began awkwardly. Commenced to overrace and resented being restrained when in a trailing position near the rear of the field after passing the 1100m.
 
Race 9: BRC CHRISTMAS MOVIES QTIS CLASS 6 H’CAP – 1200M
 
DENARIUS was a late scratching at 4:42 pm when stewards acceded to trainer B. Wakefield’s request to scratch the gelding due to the track upgrade to GOOD 3.
 
BEST GUESS – Brushed the rail for some distance approaching and passing the 500m.
 
COMIC STORY – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Laid in approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
BOOMTOWN LASS – Had to be restrained from heels when positioned behind the leader approaching the 1000m.
 
EPIC GIRL – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
MR BELLAGIO – Began awkwardly, making contact with the barrier partition, and lost ground.
 
SIMPLY SPLASHING – Began awkwardly.
