Apprentice Murphy stated that from the outside barrier he rode aggressively to clear runners to his inside, after which he restrained ARCHER’S PARADOX and it maintained a solid tempo and led by a considerable distance in the middle stages before weakening soon after straightening. He added that he thought it would have been detrimental to check the horse in the middle stages as this would have had an effect on the horse racing ungenerously. His explanation was noted.
