SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS
 
From Ipswich Saturday 18 July 2020:
 
Race 6: A post-race veterinary examination of HOLLABACK GIRL revealed lameness in the near hind leg. Trainer T. Gollan was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
Race 7: A post-race veterinary examination revealed MONSIEUR GUSTAVE to be displaying a sore left eye. Prior to racing again the gelding will require a veterinary clearance, including a veterinary certificate clearing the horse of any visual impairment.
 
Race 9: A post-race veterinary examination revealed SOLAR STAR to be displaying signs of mild heat stress.
 
GENERAL
 
As B. Nothdurft had sustained an injury at track work, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY MAIDEN H'CAP – 1000M
 
PRICKLY TICK – Had to be steadied from the heels of TAYELLA approaching the 600m. C. Bayliss was cautioned for using his whip on PRICKLY TICK when it was out of contention.
 
FLYING HONOUR – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Overraced in the early stages. Had to be restrained from the heels of HOT NEWS approaching the 600m.
 
TAYELLA – Slipped behind at the start and lost ground. Raced three wide without cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
ABSINTHE M’LADY – When being restrained in an attempt to obtain cover approaching the 600m, shifted in and had to be eased from the heels of TAYELLA. Raced three wide with cover.
 
THE GROUSE – Inclined to lay out rounding the home turn.
 
HAUNTED HOUSE – Hung in soon after the start, resulting in PRICKLY TICK and SCRUFF’N’STUFF being tightened for room. T. Marshall reported at scale that his mount was inclined to hang out for a major part of the race.
 
Race 2: ALCYONE HOTEL RESIDENCES CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1300M
 
STYLISH SAGA – B. Stewart was fined $300 for using the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m. In determining penalty stewards took into account the totality of whip use was on 12 occasions.
 
PROSPECTUS – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden in a more forward position with cover if circumstances permit. The horse settled behind the leaders with cover.
 
MIRACLESFROMHEAVEN – Slow to begin.
 
MUFASTA – M. Du Plessis reported that his mount felt awkward in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
SINGLE BLONDE – Shifted out slightly after travelling a short distance and made contact with the hind quarters of CENTREFIRE, which was attempting to lead and shift in towards the rail, and soon afterwards SINGLE BLONDE had to ease to avoid the heels of CENTREFIRE. L. Cassidy, the rider of CENTREFIRE, was severely reprimanded and advised to show his fellow riders greater clearance when shifting ground in the future. R. Fradd reported that his mount was disappointing when it weakened under riding in the home straight.
 
FEARLESS QUEEN – Slow to begin.
 
Race 3: BRC MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1300M
 
OUR ECHO – After travelling a short distance shifted out and bumped the hind quarters of MANTELLI.
 
ULTIMATE RING – Jumped awkwardly and as a result lost ground. Held up rounding the home turn and in the home straight until obliged to alter course to the outside of OUR ECHO in order to improve and then was held up over the final stages.
 
WOOKIEE – Began awkwardly. When asked to explain the horse’s performance, R. Fradd stated that the horse was a little slow to begin and then mustered through to the lead and when leading it was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn and then failed to respond to his riding in the home straight.
 
MANTELLI – Overraced in the early and middle stages and as a result made a three wide move approaching the 600m to race outside the leader WOOKIEE.
 
SWAN ISLAND – Raced three wide in the early stages and pulled hard from the 800m.
 
DARING BELLE – Raced three wide without cover.
 
ENGRAVED – Raced three wide with cover and overraced badly when being restrained.
 
Race 4: THE VILLAGE KITCHEN ASCOT MAIDEN H'CAP – 1400M
 
GREAT MARLOW – Slow to begin.
 
DARLING OF PARIS – Had to be checked near the 1200m when tightened for room by GREAT MARLOW. B. Stewart, the rider of GREAT MARLOW pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in at that stage when not clear of DARLING OF PARIS. Jockey Stewart’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 9 days, to commence at midnight on Saturday 25 July and expire at midnight on Monday 2 August 2020. Trainer P. Busuttin was advised that in view of today’s uncompetitive performance, the filly would be ineligible to race at metropolitan venues until such time as it establishes provincial form.
 
IZZAT – Apprentice J. Murphy was reprimanded for using the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
TEXAS TRAMP – Knuckled at the start. Raced greenly throughout. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 5: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1600M
 
PLAYTHEFIELD – J. Bayliss reported that his mount was not suited by today’s slow tempo.
 
APITHANOS – Held up rounding the home turn and near the 300m shifted to the outside of ENTERPRISE MOSS in order to improve.
 
Race 6: YOUR TRACK AWAITS 25 JULY CLASS 5 PLATE – 1000M
 
CATESBY – Lost the near hind plate in running.
 
I’VE GOTTA NEL – Led the event and tired badly in the home straight. Apprentice A. Thompson reported that in his opinion the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer B. Lockwood advised that the gelding will now be spelled.
 
JULE’S SPIRIT – Began awkwardly, shifted in and contacted the hind quarters of THE TENOR. L. Cassidy was reprimanded for using the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
STELLAR POWER – Apprentice L. Kilner, when adjusting her hold of her mount approaching the 500m when the gelding was overracing, momentarily lost the inside rein for a short distance.
 
THE TENOR – Bumped on the hind quarters on jumping. Raced three wide in the early stages before being restrained to a trailing position behind CATESBY near the 600m.
 
MITTERE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
Race 7: #BNERACES C,G&E BENCHMARK 72 H'CAP – 1200M
 
As B. Thornton was stood down by the Club doctor due to injury, T. Marshall was substituted as the rider of THE WILD ONE. Jockey Thornton will require a medical clearance prior to resuming riding.
 
MOSCINI – J. Byrne reported on scale that his mount was inclined to hang out for a major part of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
DYNAMIC VERSE – Slow to begin. R. Maloney reported that his mount did not feel comfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Stewards will follow up with trainer N. McCall in relation to the horse’s post-race recovery.
 
SUILVEN – Shifted in when hanging in near the 800m, tightening another runner. A warning was placed on the horse’s racing manners. M. Murphy was fined $300 for using the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m. In determining penalty stewards took into account the totality of whip use was on 13 occasions.
 
POCKET PISTOL – Had to be eased when tightened for room near the 800m when SUILVEN, which was hanging in, shifted in momentarily. M. Murphy, the rider of SUILVEN, was advised to provide more room to his fellow riders in similar circumstances.
 
Race 8: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY F&M BENCHMARK 72 H'CAP – 1200M
 
TIME TO PLAY – Jumped away awkwardly. Had to be checked to avoid the heels of ONE FOR BETTY near the 600m.
 
BOLD ARIAL – Restrained from a wide barrier at the start to gain a position closer to the rail and was inclined to overrace when being restrained. Raced very ungenerously when being restrained near the 600m.
 
FLYING MACHINE – Had to be restrained from the heels of FOXPACK when the pace steadied near the 600m.
 
FOXPACK – Made contact with the barrier partition on jumping and became unbalanced.
 
ONE FOR BETTY – Held up rounding the home turn and in the home straight until near the 200m where it improved between FLYING MACHINE and FOXPACK.
 
LIPS ‘N HIPS – Raced very fiercely during the early stages when racing outside the leader WINNING SHOT.
