GENERAL
The following riders were given permission to ride overweight:

Race 1: TAB Class 6 Plate 1000 metres
 
TARA JASMINE – Reared at the start and lost ground.
 
LUSKIN HERO – Had a tendency to lay in in the straight.
 
DUSTY TYCOON – Jumped away awkwardly. Passing the 800m, DUSTY TYCOON shifted out and carried PLUTOCRAT wider. Raced wide throughout.
 
PLUTOCRAT – Shifted away further from DUSTY TYCOON and carried GLORIOUS RUBY much wider on the track. Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 2: CHANNEL 7 MEMBERS' HANDICAP 1600 metres
 
DERULO – Jockey R. Maloney was fined $400 under the provisions of AR190(3) for being unable to make the allotted weight on the gelding. Jockey Maloney was replaced by W. Pike. On returning to scale, DERULO was found to have bled from both nostrils.
 
HE’S GOT POWER – Rider B. Thompson commented that the gelding failed to handle the track conditions.  
 
 
 
Race 3: JRA CHAIRMAN'S HANDICAP 2143 metres
 
YONKERS – Raced three wide in the early stages. Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
DASHING WILLOUGHBY – Trainer S. Kavanagh advised that the gelding will be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Raced three wide in the early stages.
 
DJUKON – Overraced in the early stages. Shifted out three wide and moved forward from the 1000m. Rider T. Berry commented that the gelding pulled hard in the early and middle stages and failed to run on over the concluding stages and was disappointing.
 
STAR OF MICHELIN – Slow to begin.  
 
HONORABLE SPIRIT – Overraced in the early stages.
 
TOP ORDER – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 4: STRADBROKE CALCUTTA 3YO Plate 1400 metres
 
SHAQUERO – Burst through the gates prior to the start, was vetted and cleared to start.
 
RANCH HAND – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
ARENTEE – Jumped awkwardly shifting out, hampering PRYCE and STARTANTES. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
EL VENCEDOR – Rider J. Macdonald could offer no tangible explanation for the gelding’s performance and was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
STARTANTES – Steadied outwards and away from the heels of EL VENCEDOR (NZ) approaching the 200m. Jockey T. Marshall commented that the filly never travelled in the conditions and ran on only fairly in the straight.
 
BULLOO – Raced three wide with cover throughout. Approaching the 900m, bumped with DA PARTY GAL.
 
Race 5: SPIRIT OF BOOM CLASSIC 1200 metres
 
SANDPAPER – Had to be checked near the 900m.
 
SWISS EXILE – Trainer A. Neasham was fined $200 under the provisions of LR67 for the late declaration of rider.
 
 
MINKS STAR – Burst through the gates, was vetted and cleared to start. Again broke through the front of the barrier. Runners to the inside of MINKS STAR were removed and placed into barriers to the inside of barrier four. Slow to begin. Near the 1000m, MINKS STAR shifted out abruptly from MISHANI WARFARE. As a result, POLITICAL DEBATE and MISHANI SPARTAN had to be checked when tightened for room between MINKS STAR and SANDPAPER. Near the 900m, MINKS STAR commenced to overrace and made contact with the hindquarters of COUNT DA BEANS. A warning was placed on the filly’s racing manners.
 
 
Race 6: MAGIC MILLIONS BRIGHT SHADOW 1200 metres
 
Following the running of race 5, the track was downgraded to a soft (7).
 
BABYLON BERLIN – Slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly resulting in jockey J. Macdonald losing his offside stirrup iron which he regained 100m after the start.  Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no significant abnormalisties.
 
EAST ASIA (NZ) – Trainer R. Heathcote was fined $200 under the provisions of LR67 for the late declaration of rider. Slow to begin.
 
CENTREFIRE – At the 350m had to be checked after running onto the heels of ICONIC STAR.
 
OUR BELLAGIO MISS – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out hampering ENTERPRISE POMME.
 
ENTERPRISE POMME – Hampered at the start by OUR BELLAGIO MISS. Was caught wide in the early stages and then was ridden forwards to race outside the leader.
 
WINSIDE – Near the 1000m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of LETZBEGLAM.
 
LETZBEGLAM – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 7: DRINKWISE ROUGH HABIT PLATE 2143 metres
 
Following the running of race 6, the track was downgraded to a Heavy (8).
 
CHARACTER – Jockey J. Macdonald commented that the gelding was disappointing and may have failed to handle today’s track conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
TUTUKAKA – Hampered at the 500m.  
 
DARK DESTROYER – Raced wide from the 700m.
 
SATIRICAL GLORY – Cast near fore plate in running.
 
ASHGROVE – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
RUACH – Crowded and checked at the 550m. On inquiry it was established that near the 600m rider J. Orman (PATERNAL), when attempting to shift to the outside of RUACH (O. Bosson), made contact with DARK REBEL (T. Berry) resulting in him being carried wider and PATERNAL being buffeted between DARK REBEL and RUACH, who rolled out momentarily. This resulted in DARK REBEL becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of BALMAURICE (B. Stewart) who rolled in slightly with DARK REBEL then having to be steadied inwards resulting in PATERNAL crowding RUACH, which checked and lost ground. Stewards could not apportion blame to any one rider for this incident and declared it a racing incident.
 
VERONA – Near the 1800m, had to be eased off the heels of BALMAURICE, which rolled outwards. Carried wider near the 1200m when BALMAURICE shifted outwards.
 
PATERNAL – Rider J. Orman was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip seven (7) times prior to the 100m.
 
Race 8: TAB DOOMBEN 10,000 1200 metres
 
KEMENTARI – Jockey N. Rawiller reported that he was placed under pressure from the 700m and failed to run on and may not have handled today’s track conditions.
 
COUNT DE RUPEE – Raced wide throughout. Rider B. Ryan reported that the gelding had to work hard early when racing wide and may not have handled today’s track conditions.
 
SIGNORE FOX – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 350m.
 
GENERATION – Jockey J. Kah reported that the colt had to work hard when racing wide in the early stages and may not have handled today’s track conditions.
 
ALPINE EDGE – Raced wide throughout.
 
ENTRIVIERE – Jumped away awkwardly.  
 
 
Race 9: BUNDABERG RUM BENCHMARK 85 Handicap 1400 metres
 
STARLA – Declared a late scratching at 3.49pm due to the track downgrade.
 
NEVER NO MORE – Raced four wide in the early and middle stages before being ridden forward to cross and race outside the leader at the 600m.
 
ROMAN AUREUS – Became fractious and struck the barrier partition resulting in the gelding being slow to begin.
 
ULYSSES – Raced three wide with no cover.  
 
BAANONE – Slow to begin.
 
MORE SUNDAYS – Raced four wide throughout.
 
ENTERPRISE PRINCE – Jockey B. Ryan was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip six (6) times prior to the 100m.
 
 
PALLADAS – Held up for clear running rounding the turn into the home straight.
 
WESTLINK – When racing keenly dipped when racing up onto the heels of SWANSTON near the 500m. Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed no significant findings.
