GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted the following jockeys to ride overweight.
Race 4 – Chris Meehan (DEEP STATE) plus 1/2kg at 55kg.
Race 7 – Ryan Maloney (THE DROVER) plus 1/2kg at 56.5kg.

Following a track inspection prior to the first race the track was downgraded to a Soft 6 at 10:30am.
 
Race 1: Sky Racing Maiden Plate 1800 metres
 
ISOMETRIC (NZ) – Restrained at the start to take up a position closer to the rail. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ONLY THE LONELY – Raced wide until approaching the 1000m.
 
CAIRDEAS – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities other than mild dehydration.
 
WILLNOTQUIT (NZ) – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
EUREKA'S VICTORY – Began awkwardly. Hampered shortly after the start and lost ground. Carried inwards over the concluding stages by WILLNOTQUIT (NZ).
 
DEVINE FALLS – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Over-raced in the middle stages. Rider C. Small reported the gelding raced flat and was disappointed in its finishing effort.
 
Race 2:  Impressu QTIS Three-Years-Old Maiden Plate 1600 metres
 
ACCELERATED GROWTH – Due to rider T. Harrison being delayed arriving on course, stewards permitted J. Byrne as the replacement rider for the gelding. Began awkwardly. Raced wide until approaching the 900m. Rider J. Byrne reported that after being caught wide in the early stages he elected to allow the gelding to stride forward to the lead approaching the 900m. He further added that the gelding raced greenly throughout the event.
 
BRAMBLE BAY – Raced wide until approaching the 900m. Raced in restricted room leaving the 300m.
 
REDVEDEV (NZ) – Laid outwards in the early stages and bumped CLASSIQUE GAL. Momentarily steadied leaving the 300m when awkwardly placed at the heels of CLASSIQUE GAL which shifted out to improve.
 
ROCKED – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
TAPILDOODLEDO (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
 
CLASSIQUE GAL – Bumped shortly after the start. Held up rounding the home turn and became awkwardly placed at heels in the early stages of the home straight. Shifted out to secure clear running leaving the 300m.
 
PERSUAL (NZ) – Bumped shortly after the start. Became awkward in its action approaching the 600m. Rider T. Marshall reported his mount raced greenly during the event.
 
PSYCHIC ROSE – Slow to begin. Commenced to lose ground from the 600m and was beaten a considerable distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer L Freedman advised stewards that in his opinion the filly may not appreciate rain affected tracks and it would be his intention to also spell the filly. Stewards advised Mr Freedman that PSYCHIC ROSE would be required to officially trial prior to being permitted to race again.
 
 
Race 3: Ascot Green Maiden Plate 1400 metres
 
AIRCRAFTMAN – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Held rounding home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Rider M. Cahill reported that the gelding raced keenly during the event and in his opinion would derive benefit from today’s performance.
 
HAPPISBURGH – Bumped shortly after the start. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
TIRITIRI (NZ) – Became awkward at heels approaching the 1000m.
 
DAMIANI – Raced wide until approaching the 800m.
 
DEEP CLEAN – Steadied from heels approaching 700m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
PARALLEL – Shifted inwards at the start and bumped HAPPISBURGH. Improved onto heels approaching the 700m and had to be steadied.
 
GLEN MASSEY (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 4: This Is Croser Class 3 Handicap 1000 metres
 
MENAZZI – Held up for clear running in the early stages of home straight and had to be steadied from heels at the 300m. Disappointed for a run approaching the 200m and had to be steadied. When questioned regarding his riding of the gelding rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight, rider B Thornton advised that his mount was travelling well approaching the home turn and he had envisaged securing a run to the inside of DEEP STATE shortly after entering the home straight as he was of the opinion that runner was not travelling as well as MENAZZI however DEEP STATE did not drop off as he had expected and he was then disappointed for clear running between DEEP STATE and PRINCE AMONGST MEN. When questioned whether there was an opportunity to shift wider of DEEP STATE approaching the home turn, Mr Thornton advised that he was unable to shift wider as he racing to the inside of DEEP STATE and he would have been awkwardly paced at the heels of that runner if he had attempted to shift wider at that point. Stewards after considering Jockey Thornton’s explanation noted his comments.
 
PERSEIDS – Connections advised that from the wide barrier the horse would be ridden further back in the field if circumstances permit. The gelding was ridden accordingly. Laid in over the final stages.
 
HEAD ON UP – Improved onto heels approaching the 500m when over racing and had to be steadied. Held up rounding the home turn and until approaching the 200m. Laid out over the concluding stages.
 
GOD OF MISCHIEF – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying clinical signs of cardiac arrythmia. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance inclusive of an ECG report would be required prior to the gelding trialling to the satisfaction of stewards before being permitted to race again.
 
 
Race 5: NOVA 106.9 BM65 Handicap 2431 metres
 
DAYSAN (USA) – Raced in restricted room rounding the home turn.
 
LUVYOUANYTIME – Forced wider at the 2000m and raced wide until approaching the 1600m. Bumped rounding the home turn. Bumped and taken inwards by SERGEANT SILVA approaching the 300m.
 
SACRAMENTO JOE (IRE) – Raced in restricted approaching the 1800m. Laid in under pressure over the final 150m.
 
POPULIST – Left a trailing a rearward trailing position approaching the 1200m and worked forward t the position outside the leader approaching the 1000m. Shifted out when placed under pressure approaching the home turn and when corrected by its rider commenced to lay in for a short distance.
 
SERGEANT SILVA – Improved onto heels approaching the 2000m and shifted out. Laid in under pressure rounding the home turn and bumped LUVYOUANYTIME. Laid in approaching the 300m and became unbalanced after bumping LUVYOULONGTIME. Rider J. Lloyd advised that the gelding felt awkward in its action on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to short striding in the off foreleg. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance would be require prior the gelding being permitted to race again. Trainer R. Heathcote advised the gelding would be sent for a spell.
 
GAMBU (NZ) – Slow to begin. Became awkward at the heels of POPULIST rounding the home turn and was then obliged to race in restricted room for a short distance. Laid in under pressure over the final 150m.
 
REFLECTING IMAGE – Tired over the final 600m to be beaten a considerable distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying clinical signs of cardiac arrythmia. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance inclusive of an ECG report would be required prior to the gelding trialling to the satisfaction of stewards before being permitted to race again.
 
Race 6: Makers Mark BM75 Handicap 1200 metres
 
STARVIRGO – Stewards permitted the late scratching of the gelding at 11:44am due to the downgrade of the track.
 
GENZAI THE WOLF – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance trainer D Murphy advised that at its most start over 1400m the gelding over-race and refused to settle. He further added that coming back to 1200m for today’s event and also a drop in grade he expected an improved performance. Stewards noted his comments.
 
FIFTEEN ROUNDS – Began extremely awkwardly and lost ground. Commenced to over-race in the early stages and proved difficult to settle. Raced wide throughout.
 
KOSCIUSKO – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 7: Channel 7 Class 3 Handicap 1400 metres
 
LOGAN STREET LION (NZ) – Held up for clear running from the 300m until approaching the 200m.
 
PEPPER'S GHOST – Began awkwardly
 
THINK HIGH – When questioned regarding racing in a more forward position than at previous recent starts, rider M Du Plessis advised that stewards that the stables’ instructions were that from the wider barrier draw and with limited speed drawn to the inside to ride forward to cross runners and then secure cover. Trainer M. Dunn was advised by stewards that in future he should advise them if the racing pattern of his runners was to potentially differ from recent starts.
 
NOBLE BEAUTY – Caught wide in the early stages and was then permitted to stride forward to the position outside the lead approaching the 800m. Rider B. Thompson advised stewards that it wasn’t his intention to race in a forward position however after being unable to secure a position with cover he was obliged to race in a forward position rather than being caught wide.
 
BALMAURICE – Slow to begin.
 
DAEDALUS – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Commenced to over-race in the early stages and proved difficult to settle. Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 8: CANADIAN CLUB OPEN Handicap 1000 metres
 
REMLAPS GEM – Raced wide throughout.
 
SIMPLY FLY – Shifted in after the start and bumped JE SUIS BELLE
 
JE SUIS BELLE – Hampered shortly after the start and lost ground. Steadied from heels approaching the home turn.
 
KING KLAUS – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
LE PALMIER – Began awkwardly. Held up in the early stages of the home straight until approaching the 200m.
 
MAJESTIC SHOT – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority.
 
SIR WARWICK – Raced in restricted room approaching the home turn. Held for clear running in the home straight and was obliged to alter course approaching the 150m.
 
KISUKANO – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room approaching the home turn and had to be steadied. Had difficulty securing clear running in the home straight and improved onto heels at the 200m and had to be steadied.
 
ARCHER'S PARADOX – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 9: Road to Magic Millions BM65 Handicap 1600 metres
 
GREEN REIGN – Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early and middle stages and shifted wider at the 800m.
 
GREEN FLASH – Hampered shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
LOOKS LIKE (NZ) – Rider R Maloney was harmlessly dislodged leaving the enclosure and quickly remounted the gelding, proceeding to the barriers without further incident.
 
A BIG CHANCE – Began awkwardly, shifted outwards and bumped SALSONIC.
 
CALCAREOUS – Bumped after the start and shifted outwards.
 
COODARADY – Over-raced when leading. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Connections were advised a veterinary clearance would be require prior the gelding being permitted to race again.
 
DAULAT TAI PANAZIZ – Bumped after the start.
 
 
SALSONIC – Bumped after the start and shifted outwards.
 
HADOUKEN – Slipped on jumping and became unbalanced.
