GENERAL
 
 
Race 1: RACECOURSE VILLAGE Maiden Plate 1840 metres
 
The start of this event was delayed when DESTINATION SYDNEY had to be resaddled behind the barriers.
 
Chicago Field – Slow to begin. Hung out when rounding the home turn.
 
Destination Sydney – Over-raced in the lead during the middle stages.
 
Katdeel – Obliged to race in restricted room near the 700m. M Cahill was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
Red Hot Rubix – L Allen was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of her whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
Bliss – R Maloney was replaced as the rider of this mare by S Collett, as R Maloney was to be overweight. It was established that trainer C Waller and R Maloney had agreed to apply to have R Maloney ride overweight, however no application had been provided to stewards and therefore no action was taken against R Maloney. S Collett reported that in her opinion the step up in distance from the mares most recent start had a detrimental affect on the horses performance. C Waller stable representative advised stewards that the horse would now be sent for a spell. Post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Caoimhe (NZ) – Slow to begin. Raced wide from the 800m. J Huxtable was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
Cristalino (NZ) – A Mallyon was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
Race 2: SKY RACING Class 5 Plate 1300 metres
 
Morethannumberone – Began awkwardly. Over-raced during the early and middle stages. Obliged to alter course during the early stages of the home straight in order to secure clear running.
 
Ventura Ocean (IRE) – A Mallyon reported that his mount raced very flat. K Lees stable representative indicated that the horse would now be sent for a spell.
 
Race 3: QTIS JEWEL RACEDAY 18 MARCH QTIS Three-Year-Old
Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
Big Sky Country – R Maloney reported that his mount hung out and over-raced throughout the event, which he attributed to the gear change of Blinkers on for the first time. Post-race vet examination revealed a poor recovery.
 
Dominance – Raced wide throughout.
 
Ready Azz Eva – Slow to begin.
 
Shades Of Louvre – Slow to begin.
 
Lisaili – Over-raced when restrained to obtain cover during the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 4: SOUTHS SPORTS CLUB QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
Austral Street – Slow to begin and inconvenienced shortly after the start. Raced greenly near the 800m and made contact with the rail.
 
Canelander – Over-raced and hung out near the 1000m. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
 
O'hokey Pokey – Forced wider near the 800m and raced wide for a short distance.
 
Sha Of Gomer – Began awkwardly. Over-raced during the early stages. Laid in under pressure.
 
Boomsita – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over-raced and checked when the pace slackened near the 800m and shifted wider for a short distance.
 
Rock Lobster – After beginning well and as a result of being caught wide in the early stages, was ridden forward by its rider to obtain the leading position near the 1000m, and as a result settled further forward than anticipated.
 
Race 5: MOUNT FRANKLIN QTIS BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1000 metres
 
Three Stripes – Slow to begin.
 
American Red – Hung in and bumped TOP BIRD near the 500m.
 
Rich Devil – Bumped and forced wider after passing the 500m.
 
Warrioress – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running when rounding the home turn.
 
Controlocracy – Shifted out to improve near the 500m and made heavy contact with RICH DEVIL forcing that horse wider.
 
Nashira – Returned to scale with a laceration to the nearside shoulder. Raced greenly under pressure.
 
Top Bird – Bumped and became unbalanced when AMERICAN RED shifted in near the 500m.
 
 
Race 6: GIRLS DAY OUT 4 MARCH Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
Robber Baron – Raced in restricted room near the 100m.
 
Rocky Rogue – Raced wide during the early stages and ridden forward to a position outside the lead passing the 900m. R Maloney reported that his mount travelled well until passing the 400m and weakened badly. Trainer D Vandyke was advised that the gelding must trial prior to racing again. Post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Naval Trader – Slow to begin.
 
Parues – Bumped heavily at the start and lost ground.
 
Time To Testify – Began awkwardly and bumped heavily on jumping. Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
Whatta Whitt – Shied and shifted out abruptly when rounding the home turn, almost dislodging C Bayliss. Trainer P Busuttin was advised that the gelding would be required to trial prior to racing again.
 
I Am Takingthelot – Over-raced during the early and middle stages.
 
Nothin' But Looks – Bumped heavily on jumping.
 
Double Oh Seven – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
Jackson On Time – Change of tactics, to be ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Raced greenly under pressure.
 
Sukiche – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Raced in restricted room near the 100m.
 
Race 7: LADBROKES MARKET CONTROL BENCHMARK 68 Handicap1840 metres
 
Two Smokin Barrels – Over-raced during the middle stages.
 
Sir William Bruce (IRE)- Jockey J Orman could offer no tangible explanation in relation to the below market expectation performance.
 
Peekays Legacy – Improved onto heels and was held up for clear running from the 250m until the 200m.
 
Vyner – App J Lloyd advised that in his opinion over racing during the early and middle stages was the major contributing factor in relation to the below market expectation performance. App Lloyd added in his opinion the gelding may be better suited when able to be ridden with cover. Post-race vet examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Kopangi (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
Naughty Harry (NZ) – Held up for clear running from the 500m until leaving the 400m and again from the 300m until the 150m.
 
I Ponder – Slow to begin.
 
Race 8: XXXX DRY BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1400 metres
 
Royal Performance – W Peel was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of her whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
Saint Martin – Raced wide throughout.
 
Flying Joy – Began awkwardly. Over-raced during the middle stages.
 
Sequana – Near the 1200m was bumped on the hindquarters, shifted out and as a result was steadied from heels.
 
Mista Omega – Held up for clear running during the early stages of the home straight.
 
The Rampant – Post-race vet examination found the horse to be suffering from heat stress.
 
Sounds Divine – Over-raced during the early stages, shifted out near the 800m and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
Virtuosity – Began awkwardly. Steadied from heels shortly after the start and over-raced during the early stages.
 
 
Race 9: BRC MEMBERSHIP Class 1 Handicap 1200 metres
 
Derry Grove – Over-raced during the early and middle stages. Had difficulty securing clear running during the early stages of the home straight.
 
Jimmy's Dream – Began awkwardly.
 
Zoocupola – Obliged to race in restricted room near the 1100m. Whilst over-racing was checked when awkwardly placed at heels near the 1000m.
 
Huss On First – Obliged to race in restricted room near the 1100m. B Thompson reported that he had attempted to hold his position to the outside of BORN A WARRIOR when that horse shifted out to improve near the 450m, however his mount was not travelling well enough at this point. He also added that his mount would benefit with a step up in distance.
 
Mexican Star – Tightened for room near the 1000m.
 
Epauvescent – Inconvenienced on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
 
Crazy Eyed Fred ­– Blundered on jumping. Tightened for room near the 1000m. T Marshall was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m.
